Wow Jay!!! That was right on!!! Got a Match was originally how I found you many years ago. This new recording is amazing! I have been listening to this tune since I was a kid, So I know every phase, This is best drum cover by far! No 2 drummers can ever sound alike, but this capture Dave Weckl's Approach amazingly close. I have said this before, Jay has a way of teaching and demonstrating tunes and licks from some of the best drummers in the world, and in some ways better than the original. Bravo!!!!

i love your channel Jay! Been following your content for years! Great technique and solid hits... im still stucked in the "you suck at soloing" video. Working up my skills until i can execute it :( I dont know how to develop more speed in my left hand for more hard and defined hits. Any advise?

way under flamboyant to be weckl brother.. too like not flamboyant .. weckl hits way harde rin that era
@Thedrummersalmanac5 ай бұрын
There's only one Weckl, my friend lol... I think of of a tune like this as a standard, so you just play that chart in your own voice. But you're right, Weckl did hit hard on that recording... It was the 80's and in the studio, you kinda had to dig in a bit to get that clarity.

No 2 drummers can ever sound alike, Based on early years of training, and thoughts, Just like no 2 singers can sound alike, but this capture Dave Weckl's Approach amazingly close. I have said this before, Jay has a way of teaching and demonstrating tunes and licks from some of the best drummers in the world, and in some ways better than the original as far as clarity in understanding. I don’t know what is more impressive… your drumming or the way you handle these really, REALLY dumb comments. I think the latter. It takes more skill😂@@Thedrummersalmanac

I really can't find the point when someone shares his drum cover without sharing the drum tab of the song.Sorry,but I don't want to feed the Ego of anyone

Omg this is the stupidest comment I ever read in the last century…it’s art, just enjoy it or leave it .
@Thedrummersalmanac5 ай бұрын
I don’t have a tab for this tune… it’s a Jazz standard so it’s all improve… you’ll never do it the same way twice… you can certainly find with the form and roadmap, but the actually playing is up to you.
@ObscuraDeCapra13 күн бұрын
I still don't believe Weckl actually like... wrote this. I think it's a joke. Just him playing some random crap and everyone's like "Yeah man, that's totally sick!" And he's just, luckily, been playing it the exact same for like 35 years. Total fluke every time. I have to believe this because the alternative is that he composed this intentionally. And that... that's the kind of terror people scribble on cave walls about.
