Just put mine together and the way the control arm is attached is a little screwy. I have a little play and it doesnt fully open maybe 99% open. But i can do it by hand..No matter how i try to caibrate it it seems there is a problem somewhere else. I read one review on Amazon and somebody was having the exact same problem.

I just got one too! I just laid down some 10-10-10 and my gripe is i have no idea how much fert/material i'm throwing or how to gauge how much to throw. Any tips?

Awesome! Congrats on the new addition! Make sure you have the right amount of product you're trying to put down of course for your application as far as Square Footage and LBs of fert etc. I would always recommend checking the bag label to see what spreader settings are on there first. Now I know some bags only have settings for certain spreader brands. In that case what I always try to do is let the fertilizer and spreader tell me what to do. Sounds crazy but it's true from my experience. For instance if you have the setting too far open you'll feel like you're running around trying to keep up and empty the fertilizer faster because of the rate it's dumping out. Ideally you don't want that of course. Now if you don't have it open enough you'll notice the spread pattern seems weak or isn't consistent. Which also isn't ideal. You want to try to find that happy medium point to where it's spreading out evenly, getting good coverage and you can maintain a comfortable walking pace for yourself. Also the fertilizer prill size is good to be aware of. Smaller prill size indicates to a lower setting being more ideal Since it doesn't need much of an opening to get through. Bigger prill size indicates to a higher setting being more ideal since it needs a wider opening to get through. Also I would just recommend starting out on a lower setting first if you're unsure. Then gradually work your way up. That way you're not wasting a lot of fertilizer or have a lot going in one spot which could potentially burn the lawn. Hopefully that helps!
