Also the help of a licensed mental health professional. Anxiety and depression are actual conditions. Just like we don't simply pray away cancer or a broken bone, many can't simply pray away anxiety and depression. Perpetuating the myth that someone who is anxious or depressed simply needs to pray better or more often leads to deepening depression and anxiety.

My dog is presently suffering with distemper now, and this video pops up! What a blessing! I pray like crazy since last night, but even though I pray and should put my trust in the Lord, I still worry. I forgot that tha Lord is in control, and whatever His it will be done. Thanks for this video! It really helps a lot!

Truthfully, I think it’s VERY natural to worry or fear the unknown, like a worldwide pandemic. These “fear not” messages are good, but enough already!!

You should start with a disclaimer that you are talking about simple, temporary worry and not clinical anxiety or depression. Clinical anxiety is a real thing and should be treated with THERAPY. There are good Christian therapists out there who can treat more serious "worry" or anxiety from a biblical and Catholic perspective.
@moreflint3 жыл бұрын
could you recc one?
@MsCharlie20073 жыл бұрын
@@moreflint that would depend on your locality. I would recommend asking your pastor or diocese. It can also be helpful to ask friends or family if they know of anyone they can recommend.
@cathyharrell95293 жыл бұрын
@mag lo You can also search for Christian and specifically Catholic therapists.
@isabeauvollhardt4303 жыл бұрын
this absolutely needs a disclaimer. it disrespects the spiritual healing path of many of us with mental illness; it also discounts that animals (domestic) just like human beings, can have anxiety and depression due to abuse and trauma at the hands of others. To have no disclaimer is irresponsible and can contribute further to the suffering of those who live with mental illness daily and are discounted, ignored, or disparaged by those within their own spiritual community who think prayer is the only answer. sometimes, the answer to the prayer is: help yourself -- by finding the appropriate counselor and keeping close to you only those people who support you mentally, emotionally, and spiritually on your healing journey, which is part of your spiritual journey.

Worried about the flame juggling in this video, as I am a fire and burn survival. The analogy to juggling is good but the flame throwing causes me lots of worry which defeats the purpose of the video...

sCan we please be more charitable here and not so "judgy"? I am a Catholic priest, and I am someone who has an extremely painful history of anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. I have sought both medical, psychological, and spiritual help, and I'm a fan of all three. I don't see or hear anything in this video that would suggest that medical and psychological help are not necessary or helpful. In fact, I welcome all of what he said a "A PART" of the "whole shebang". I don't see how saying something is "unnatural" or even "disordered" (Chris did NOT use this word ) is tantamount to saying that something is "bad" or "wrong". I mean, Catholics are NOT anti-medicine, anti-doctor, or anti-science AT ALL, and i don't believe Chris is either...after all he is a "Real Life Catholic". haha. Seriously, do you think God ordered from the very beginning a "natural worry" or "natural anxiety" for the human race? Absolutely not! In the beginning there was perfect harmony amongst all things! It's only after THE FALL/Original Sin when things started to become "dis-ordered" and "un-natural". So, while I will not speak for anyone else in my next statement, I will say that MY clinical anxiety, panic, and/or depression IS "unnatural"...IS "dis-ordered". Why else would they give us medication? Isn't one of the roles of medicine to help allow something in the body or brain that is not functional "normally" to do just that? If i lack enough serotonin in my brain, to me, that's "unnatural/dis-ordered". That doesn't mean there is "something wrong with me in the sense that i don't have enough faith in God", and I don't believe that is what Chris is saying here.
