I jumped off my damn sofa when Jon swung his sword down and beheaded him. When he pleads for Mercy and Jon hesitates for a moment, I thought for a second that D&D were honestly gonna try to save this prick and keep him around, but then soon after the camera pan's to Jon, with his face scowling in utter disgust of this man's shame and cowardice, and he drops the metaphorical hammer on his ass. There is some small element of pity that can be felt for Slynt, in that many of his more deplorable actions came about because he was forced into it, and he was too much of a coward to stand up for what's right. However, that small pity is easily washed away when you realize that he feels no regret for what he did, and he never even tried to find a third way out, like Varys often did in order to carry out the LETTER of the orders given to him, while still keeping the SPIRIT of what's right intact. Worst part to consider is that even if his life hadn't been at stake for what he did, he still probably would've done it anyway. Fuck him, he got off light considering.

He killed babies without remorse and grew impatient with his men when they struggled to stomach doing such an awful deed. He went out of his way to make Jon’s life miserable, and betrayed the entire realm by killing Ned Starks men and arresting him after taking a bribe from Cersei so Joffrey could take power. Janos deserves a hefty chunk of blame for the war starting in the first place because he was a key piece in what set the pieces into motion.

Probably because Ser Alison Thorne was important. He was a knight during the Rebellion for the Targaryans. Somehow he was able to become important at The Wall. Since Thorne was left at Castle Black while the rest of the brothers were away in the North he would be the highest ranking member at Castle Black. So when Slynt arrived he got promoted because he was the leader of the Gold Cloaks. He wasn't good at his job but Throne only saw someone who was once the leader of the Gold Cloaks now at Castle Black. A person given charge of the Gold Cloaks must be good at his job.

Janos was humbled at the end. I feel that such a man that tries to redemption himself by confessing his sins at the end should be given a chance. It might have been the fear of death that made him repent, but still. It was genuine, he confessed being weak and afraid. He stripped himself bare, he would have been gratefull and more humble afterwards.
@dgray37715 ай бұрын
He instantly became utterly useless, no man at the wall would trust him. And his character is that of someone who plots behind peoples backs. You don't want him in charge of anything or even lurking around. Even cleaning the privy would be too much. And since he already committed the crime. Refusing orders of the Lord commander is death. He knew, everyone knew. Also Jon would lose all respect if he backed down now. It was really the end for Janos.

Dominic Carter. Thankless role. Hated Janos Slynt because he was so well portrayed by Dominic Carter. Have re-watched this confrontation and aftermath several times on several channels, and today, decided I needed to acknowledge the actor who played such a memorable bully. "I've always been afraid!" is the dirty secret all bullies try to hide, including Lucifer who became our enemy. Because they're infected with fear, bullies become fear-mongers, striving to spread their misery and capitalize on it. I wish children could see this portrayal, but G. O. T. ain't for children. Hopefully, many adults who have been intimidated by "grown-up bullies" will consider this depiction. Do bullies have power? Yes, often they do? Can bullies inflict pain? Sure, many have bark and bite. Can bullies kill? Yes. Does knowing that fear-mongering bullies are themselves controlled by fear help a person being persecuted by a bully? I don't know, but it helps me. What goes around comes around. Thanks, Kevin, for this offering. Thanks, Dominic Carter, for Janos Slynt, and for exposing the dirty, little secret....
