Gosh, this was the first year the investment was offered instead. There were a lot of really likable candidates and some of the best made it to the final. Jim was the ultimate sweet-talker, Susan was savvy, Helen could do almost anything (and had it been the old system would have undoubtedly won), and the winner Tom had more tenacity than I'd ever seen in a candidate and managed to stay energetic and full of ideas the whole time. I think S7 is still the highest rated ever and deservedly so.

I think you are right, this season, season 2 and the season with the “sandlewood” ( I think season 5) disaster are always the ones I think of with this show. Jedi Jim was one of the strongest personalities ever in the show, I genuinely think he’s probably the most dominant contestant ever and would have been the strongest personality in any season but Tom has to be the most likeable winner. Probably the most successful (although I understand Susan Ma, who didn’t win, is the most successful candidate ever).

S7 was good, but I think in terms of sheer calibre, S9 was strongest. There were some exceptionally talented people that year.

I liked series 7 and it had its disasters too but generally there were people who were strong and it wasn't guaranteed to be a disaster. I think now in the the apprentice its more or less guaranteed it will work out badly.

Cool season but the tasks were ultimately pointless because it just came down to their business ideas. Tom was useless as a businessman and lost almost every task but had some great ideas

its an interesting joke. I think the oh damn line comes prematurely and you miss it, expecting a punchline next. But when you realise you missed the joke it causes a much bigger relief and laughs.

It’s a play on words: a dam is a barrier constructed to hold back water and raise its level. So the fish bumping its head on something is likely to be a dam “oh damn”
