You were in my "back yard". FWIW, Hillsboro is in Virginia - you will play tag with the state lines many times in this area. Re: heated grips. I rented a bike early in the season (late May) in 2004. It got chilly in Austria and I only survived because the bike had heated grips. When I got back home, I put them on my bike and every bike since has had them.

Lea, thank you for another excellent video and history lesson. I have ridden on many of the same roads in that area of the country and have enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The day I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway there was dense fog just as you had in Virginia. I would like to recommend that you buy a heated vest. A vest is a wonderful item when you are riding in the cold rain. When our bodies are getting cold most of our blood is kept in the trunk of our body to keep the vital organs warm and less blood goes to the arms and legs. A heated vest keeps the body warm and more blood is allowed to go to our arms and legs, keeping them warm. It really works. Safe travels and we have not seen the red dress in quite a while.
@Got2Go2 жыл бұрын
To be honest on a trip like the USA trip where it was mostly very acceptable temperatures besides of maybe 3 days or so I would not carry a heated vest, I just have a lot of luggage in general with all my video and filming equipment and every additional piece matters. So if I don’t need things every day or to survive I rather leave them at home.

Heated grips are a must. Even my summer gloves are waterproof. I don’t like riding in the rain. You see a lot less and my glasses fog up. Then you have to open the visor which means your glasses het wet and you see even less. It looks a lot better without rain; nice and green. Green often means a lot of rain.

Hi!... There are many ways to encourage and recognize the good work some people have done for the society so far, it's my personal and honest opinion. I hope my few words have given the strength they need to continue doing this work. How the World is changing dramatically and perversely, in last few years... It's time to reverse these dark days of interests... You are part of this and gather some of the necessary means and tools, to be able to counteract and make real difference. Changing the way of seeing and thinking of many citizens around the world. Traveling through several countries, it allows you to understand and build bridges between different cultures and communicate between them... Autumn has arrived... Many days have passed, inform of silence... without sweating to much, I'm writing, again a few words, not many from the journey 😀, but today is also time to break that silence... Behind the windows, a shadow looking out..., it is raining heavily, on the window glass a few drops of water are slowly running down the windowsill, the same thing happens on the helmet, the discomfort is remarkable... In the background noise, that of mechanical clock stands out... suddenly the gaze is projected onto a tree lined road, the reflections off the water are mirrored along the path, small particles are released from the treads of tires. They mix with the final result of combustion in the engine, a cloud of smoke is projected far behind the direction of travel... Finally... after miles and miles the oasis is in sight. The permanent engine rumble ceases to be heard, a ceiling, a confort treat, the rest of a long journey...,from the anxiety to joy, mission accomplished, until next time... Got2go!

And an warm meal... I was thinking about riding motorcycles in the rain. I did not have the proper rain suits. Which means I got soaking wet and stayed that way until the end. Speaking of the shape of the Mountain State, there is a comedian from here that talks about the shape of W.V. He holds up his left hand and extends his middle finger. He then says my state is shaped like this. And it is!!! I hope you are not offended by that statement. Once again, I want to Thank YOU for your excellent video and kind words! Hi Lea, enjoyed the video, the two Virginias are certainly beautiful, especially when the fog clears. One thing puzzled me why you didn't whilst at that motorcycle shop get some aftermarket heated grips fitted. Also, when I get a wet helmet lining, I use the Hotels hairdryer, works really well, hope that little tip helps in the future. Thanks Lea loving this east United States tour.
@Got2Go2 жыл бұрын
I know all these tricks - but I didn’t even realize how wet the helmet was (due to everything being so damp after the fog and rain) until I put it in next day. And I didn’t get any grips fitted because you need to preorder them and they didn’t have any in stock, and for that my travels are too spontaneous and in the USA as well to short to do that. If I don’t sell the tenere and continue with it another time I will order them before I arrive close to the place the tenere now parks.
