Good question. It really depends on your establishment and what your priorities are for your POS. You can't go wrong with either one.

Hi Dave, love your videos! When my bartenders change shifts & ask the customers if they would like to cash out. I lose half of my customers. How can i avoid that issue? Thanks!

This is a great question. What we used to do is the day bartenders would print out all the tabs still open so the night crew could tip them out on those amounts at the end of the night (just put the tips in little envelopes with their name on it). For example, if there were four tabs still open and the total of those four tabs was $150, assuming that the tips were average, between 15 - 120%, the night bartenders would leave $25 - $30 in an envelope for the day crew. This way the guests could keep going without being interrupted. That's what we did. Not sure if it works for you. If anyone else has any methods they use, I'd love to hear it. Cheers.

Zones: what stops them from ordering outside discounted drink and then just walk right back in a bar with that drink for warmth?

This is an honor system thing. I doubt you would have too many people trying to "cheat" Crappy Hour. And if they do, who cares? The point of the promotion is to get them into your bar/restaurant during winter time when you might otherwise be slow. As an owner, I could give a shit where you drink, as long as you come in. Does that make sense?

I would give square a go because they are so affordable. The problem POS systems have with food trucks is them being mobile and going offline, but they are getting much better at it. Best of luck. Let us know what you end up choosing and if it was a good choice. Cheers.
