For me the Health Anxiety often leads me into depression, which on top of the anxiety makes things even worse. All the more reason to try to look at HA as an "opponent" as Part 1 talks about and recognizing the lies etc. at the source

Hearing this helps, but as I listen to this video, my anxiety is through the roof at the moment. I don’t check/google anymore. I talk to and tell my anxiety “okay do what you need to do and hurry up” I tell myself I’m fine. BUT it’s still here. I’ve been fighting anxiety for over 11 years. I’ve had so many tests done and I know I’m okay. But I do have some health issues and when I feel the symptoms related to those issues my anxiety is triggered then immediately I go straight to thinking I’m dying. With that I head straight to go use the bathroom. Never fails. Breathing techniques make me lightheaded most of the time. What helps me calm down is typing my thoughts in a forum or comment here to help feel better. Sometime I get better but then I fall back into the anxiety loop. The techniques I’ve learned through therapy helps but I’m still fighting. I can’t even take my prescribed medication as I feel the medication does more harm to my organs than calms my anxiety. And YES I can’t stand taking my BP. I purchased a home one and I hate looking at it. It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one who has these crazy thoughts, behaviors and extreme worries. Ugh.

What might help is journaling, writing your thoughts out on paper physically can help with relieving some of that mental blockage, and give you a new insight. kind of like having an idea in your head, vs explaining it to someone. it gives you a new angle to look at.

Im here again. This is the worst. This anxiety has pretty much ruined my life. I’ve had therapist and my doctor check for all my symptoms. Most things I thought I had I didn’t. Thankfully. BUT I did find out I had fatty liver, a gallstone and a kidney stone. I have GERD and I have a slight issue with my thyroid. I don’t google much anymore unless it’s a new symptom. Mostly I talk to my Dr right away. Also my anxiety is worst at night. Causes me insomnia, like right now. I’m still overly hyper aware. I feel the tightness in my chest. I feel the tightness in my throat. I feel palpitations. I feel faint and sick to my stomach. And I’m back at step one. I doze off and my body won’t let me sleep. Affirmations and breathing techniques haven’t helped. I’m lost and feeling hopeless. I know my actual health issues and it still causes me to spiral into fight or flight, or panic attacks. This is horrible. And you speak on everything I deal with.! My Dr had me buy a blood pressure machine so I’d get comfortable with it. But noooo my BP is high then comes down at my visits. This has been the roughest few years. Ever.

I had my first panic attack in Dec 2021. I am experiencing all kind of physical symptoms now (acid reflux , indigestion , bad skin , shortness of breath , bloating chest tightness , light headedness). Whenever I hear the news or read the word heart attack or cardiac arrest I get very anxious. To make the case worst I hear the news of heart attacks daily among young people as well and then there is vaccine conspiracy . I am 25 and do not want to live like this man . slowly I have accepted the fact that Death is the only truth about life . Cardiophobia sucks man as no amount of tests can guarantee about heart health.

How do we know if we REALLY health anxiety? 1. Check your heartbeat, it will be high 2. You will have hard time to sleep and stay asleep, and 3. Muscle pains. These are the three main symptoms for those who really have severe health anxiety. From this stage, it will get worse. You will have gut problem, then skin problem, GERD, etc. Unless, you are able to extinguish your fear, you will never get out from this situation. It took me about 2 years to finally get out.

Here is a great example of health anxiety. My sister-in-law was diagnosed with ALS when she was 58. I became terrified and convinced that I had it. I was having all kinds of muscle twitches in my legs. It is amazing what the creative mind can conjure up! Naturally it was a terrible time for us all, but I certainly did not help the situation with my fears (which I shared only with my husband who reassure me - now we know better about that!) Thanks so much for this wonderful presentation.

Great word activity. Makes me feel better about doing these myself. One reason why I never considered it was because I always was conditioned to believe and I should feel bad when I read stories with those words there, I would feel major guilt. However, I'm now realizing that I could be compassionate for the person who has it, but not for the thing itself. Removing the power from the word/illness does not remove the compassion for the person who has it. Thank you!

I’ve been stressing out _heavily_ about that brain eating amoeba (I live in AZ). I haven’t been to a waterpark or a lake within the last week, but I have gotten water in my nose somehow like a few times within the last week. First in my chlorinated swimming pool, second in a chlorinated shower, third I had a feeling the warm (i prefer cold) water I was drinking went up the connection tube and into my nose somehow. Fourth one that might’ve been imaginary went the same as the last but with ice cold water. My anxiety has gotten better within the last 2 days as I finally could be excited and genuinely happy (it was THAT bad.) I’m convinced that maybe the eating isn’t the parasite in my tissue, but my anxiety just eating me alive at this point

Thank you, very helpful. Another good way to reduce the power of thoughts is through awareness / meditation. Watching them, like they are on a movie screen or placards on parade, helps us not get caught up with them (dont need to be actually meditating to do this...but it does take practice). Re-wiring also happens this way, so a bit of extra bonus. :)

These videos about health anxiety have been very helpful and enlightening. I’m almost thirty and had a back injury a few months ago that have left me with bad pain and numbness in my fingers on my left hand. I have been out of work and under a lot of stress not knowing when I will be pain free or if I ever will be. Since then I’ve had bouts of other symptoms like feeling dizzy and more tingling in my hands and feet and I now realized that it’s anxiety, which has been hard for me to understand since I’ve never had anxiety before. But thanks to these videos it’s helping me get a grip on what these other symptoms are and in turn not stressing myself out even more.

my health anxiety is anxious obsession about having Gen. anxiety disorder and fearing the symptoms mean i am "crazy" and that the anxiety will never go away. I focus on my feelings of hyper vigilance and can't seem to accept those hyped up feelings. I have rushes of adrenaline, cortisol, etc many times a day and these are the symptoms I fear. That’s part of acceptance work a bit at a time learning to not control uncertainty and accept that we can’t control everything is a good starting point if it makes your anxiety bad it’s your anxiety lying to you think back to been a kid certain problems didn’t bother you it’s only what we created in our minds anxiety is a lie the more you tell yourself that the less fire you put on the fuel my stomachs bad at the min and my anxiety said don’t eat that sandwich it will make it worse so I jumped straight in made the sandwich and I was fine my anxiety took a while to calm down but then later when I reached for bad food it was nowhere near as bad you will be fine just keep showing your brain there’s no danger and you will get there the greatest things in life are on the other side of fear

It's okay, man. Half the battle, or more like 80% of the battle, is doing the work by yourself to resolve the anxiety. It's okay that it won't happen overnight. It's okay when you take 3 steps forward, two steps back. You're going to be okay. Uncertainty is part of life. And it always has been up to this point. You will find what helps you win this battle with anxiety. You know just yesterday, I watched a Ghibli movie, and it actually really helped my mindset in that moment. Then, of course, the movie ends, and I'm back to being hyper vigilant of my symptoms. But it'll get better. I know that because I can still have good days.

Other great videos in “” Anxiety Guy” ( his first name is Dennis)...... he is Amazing........( I need all the tools I can get too!!)....... one thing that helps me w/ those or any body sensations is......... God ( or if you don’t relate to that......just say my body...... ) is just reminding me I am ALIVE, just say out loud or in your mind, it’s ok..... this is a false alarm...... thanks for protecting me........( breathing exercises SOUND Useless, but THEY ARE NOT......... YOU HAVE the power to send message to your brain to become CALM..........They even have you do this in an ER situation.....because it WORKS.......(everyday is a new day to have a better day!!!!)..........also think of a Person(s) you admire who seem Confident & fearless....... and try & say to yourself....... what or how would they handle THIS THOUGHT??...... what pisses me OFF is this FEAR/ ANXIETY is JUST a THOUGHT.....& we LISTEN to them!!!! Health anxiety is not different from reg anxiety .... It’s ALL treated same........I’ve found the TRUE ANSWER ( For Me) to this Anxiety @ THIS time is FEAR of NOT being able to handle a NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE......... @ TODAY / this Moment, RGHT this second......... FEAR= Fake Evdence APPEARING Real......... I have really Nothing , to be Anxious abt.........but yet .... here I am......lol....... NOT funny, but then AGAIN it is......... because we are All fearing something that is NOT REAL...... ( like a child being afraid of the monster under his or her bed)......... until we LOOK & face it...... it will persist!!!!......... ( what we RESIST will PERSIST.......) accept the thought 💭 r fear...... & say “” F “ it!!! I’m Living my life..........If/ when I absolutely need to Deal w/ it....... I WILL............. you have to realize no matter what thoughts run through your head today no matter what , when you go to bed you WILL wake up the next morning and the sun will rise. I know how bad you want this feeling to go away we ALL do and it will. .......this too shall pass!.......Mine come & go........ MONTHS! but, you could be much better @ changing your perception of your thoughts.......*****( If you do FIND something or Someone that changes your life & “” cures”” you) .... PLEASE SHARE with other sufferers!!!! We ALL appreciate support, kindness. (* Also, find something that brings you joy, a hobby , a great book, ect........ what we feed our brain is how our lives form- TURN OFF NEWS! lol........).......... I’m sending positive thoughts & hoping you have an Ohhhhh haaaaa moment!!!! It sometimes triggers your brain to perceive a WHOLE different way....... 🙂🌿🌻

Does illness anxiety also manifest itself through worrying about your loved ones' health, as well as your own? I spend a lot of sleepless nights worrying about my kids. Most recently they went swimming in a lake and I lay awake all night googling about brain-eating amoebas and other organisms that my kids could have picked up. The fear was real! I felt sick myself while I realized through the night that my kids were undoubtedly going to suffer from this. (They are fine, btw.) I know my thoughts are irrational, but I can't seem to stop them! I don't want to pass this on to my kids. I want to overcome this unhealthy thought process.

Hoping everyone a GREAT DAY , GREAT LIFE .............. We CONTROL OUR EMOTION........ WE are the ONLY ones !!!!! N O B O D Y is RESPONSIBLE to MAKE us HAPPY............. That kind of SUCKS, lol....... but Eckhart Tolle says.......... “” we create our own suffering until we realize suffering is not necessary......... urghhhhhh ( Mind over Matter!!!! Ive been dealing with health anxiety lately. For 3 or 4 months now. I spun in my chair and was extremely nauseas. For the rest of the day. Then after the nausea left i was left with a woozy feeling in my head, im still dealing with it. But the thoughts have been racing ( do i have a lession, a tumor? An heart disorder, blood clots or poisoning? Am i having a aneurysm? Ect) i have been fighting tooth and nail, but ill have bouts of extreme panic attacks. Ill feel like im dying, and once it starts it lasts hours. I just got back from a appointment at tge cardiologist, and my heart is healthy, they took echos and ekgs. So no longer dealing eith the anxiety with heart problems. But since the woozy is still here i get hyperfocused. I have tried so many things but my cardiologist says its probably in my ears because i spun around. I keep trying to tell myself this but ill get intrusive thoughts. Please send prayers.. I need it.

I’ve had panic disorder and GAD since 4. I had a proper diagnosis at 21. At that time I was so bad I also experienced tachycardia often. I was diagnosed with tachycardia also but they thought it was tied to the panic. I’ve been on a beta blocker since 21 and I’m 56. At 49 I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and last year PTSD. How does a person like me with true heart issues including high blood pressure make peace with that to heal health anxiety? I have sexual assaults, molestation and a near fatal car accident traumas that have repeatedly resurfaced among other things. I keep fighting but I’d love to be at peace and enjoy my life. I tried EMDR therapy over a year ago and it made things much worse.

Hey Julie. I'll try to keep this short but a similar concept of heart issues/anxiety and other things. Heart speeding up since I was a kid and remember wearing holter monitors, being rushed to hospital thinking heart attack a few times growing up before 20. Tons of heart tests as a kid but never "caught" anything. I remember early 20's and started having panic attacks. Didn't realize what anxiety even was and started having panic attacks of having the next panic attacks. Got worse and massive dizziness, then phases of shortness of breath, more hearg palps/speeding up then other symptoms- was always changing. Became nervous in certain situations/waiting rooms, doctors offices, anywhere I felt trapped - big fear and feelings I would faint - actually did faint a few times. Anyways in early 30's heart speed ups got worse (faster) ie: couldn't breathe, soaked in sweat. Finally caught it one day when it didn't slow down and it was 248 bpm and diagnosed with SVT. Had ablation 2012 in London, On. Was good for years and 2018 palps started again but not fhe same so I wasn't sure if it a new arrhythmia was here (they warned me it could). Anxiety skyrocketed faster and harder than 20's and went down road of heart tests ALL over again. Each negative result and anxiety getting debilitating fast and trying meds; therapy, natural items, hypnosis, acupuncture, massage, aromqtherapies, teas, supplements, multivitamins, and many other things. Eventually diagnosed with GAD. Then 2019 was tons of physical chest pain, getting worse ajd worse. Then more heart tests coming back negative but I was truly fearing dying of heart attack. Cardiologist saying its anxiery. My psychologist finally said I was a hypochondriac and also seeing a psychiatrist trying mood stabilizers because at same time I literally felt like I was losing mind. That sent me down a road of worrying about bipolar, and possibly that I was going into mild psychosis. Now here's the scary part - I started developing a specific fear that I was developing schizophrenia. I have a brother with it so the idea of a genetic component terrified me. So I spent all of 2019 thinking I was going to die of a heart attack and/or end up in psych ward becsuse I'd feel these physical sensations that my mind was going to lose control/snap/lose it. Life was unbearable. Then, Feb 5 2020 (yes, just passed the 1 year mark) - I dropped dead of massive cardiac arrest on front lawn at night. Brought to hospital no vitals, had massive seisure, went into coma, balloon pump, stents etc. So this whole year has been cardiac rehab.. however the anxiety has gotten worse and im also diagnosed with major depressive disorder. BUT 2020 was mostly about new symptoms. Most prevalent has been dizziness/lightheadedness. I've literally felt im going to faint non stop. When im talking to people I feel like I'm shutting down. Its a horrifying feeljng. New psychologist believes there is trauma goingn on. Still feel feelings my mind going tp lose it and I cycle between bipolar, psychosis, then that goea away and I get tremors, vibrations, feeling I'm losing control of mind and body. Recently diagnosed with somatic symptom disorder. So long story long, like you Ive had major health anxiety, and actual medical issues so ifs so hard not to feel nervous when I have chest sensations or other symtoms. Oh another thing, I'm an electrician and I was electrocuted early 20's which terrified me. Also had something blow up in my face ag work around 30 years old.. so new psychologist thinks I'm experiencing trauma from almost dying, also seeing my schizophrenic brother at his worst in psychotic states. If yoy wanted to somehow chat sometime, maybe we can share stories. Not sure your thoughts.... oh and I started this YT channel to help others with meditating as it has helped me in the past. Ps im 42 , male in good shape. Was active, no high blood pressure, no high cholesterol, non smoker/drinker. And sorry message is all over the place- typing from phone and find it hard to organize thoughts after typing from little screen.

@@MeditationInspiration I want to wish you well in your journey to getting better. My mom (70) has GAD and a few years back went to emerg for heartbeat over 250. They got it down and diagnosed her with SVT. They gave her a name for a cardiologist, had the surgery and now she’s fine. As for my own life, I’ve had GAD and OCD all my life (Im female 43). Along with non-stop cuticle ripping (excoriation disorder). Developed Health Anxiety in late teens. Phases started with fearing I had a brain tumor, and then two years worth of constantly thinking of blood clots. I was horrified of them. When the virus hit, I was absolutely terrified and had to take time off work. I won’t use Ativan or Trazodone, although I have them in my bathroom cabinet if I change my mind. I believe I suffer from Panic Disorder, not GAD. I function through my panic attacks, because I have no choice. Have you tried magnesium, melatonin or GABA pills before bed? You can find them in health food stores. Also if you have any trouble sleeping, try a Manta face mask. I use nasal dilators at night. They open your nostrils so you can breathe a whole lot easier. Allows you to breathe through your nose, as opposed to your mouth - and therefore eliminates snoring. What also helps is putting new special yellow lightbulbs into your bedside lamp and bathroom nightlight. Get the yellow coloured lightbulbs because they don’t have the evil blue light in them. Make sure there’s nothing wrong with your thyroid. See a “functional medical doctor” and have them run the seven thyroid blood tests on you instead of the single one the regular GP would run. Having thyroid issues (man or woman) can have effects on brain chemistry, feelings and emotions. Contact me and I can help you with this. (Or anyone else reading this, feel free to ask me about the thyroid aspect of this). Have you run a CRP? There are ways to decrease it. Read about apple cider vinegar, it thins the blood which in turn won’t allow clots to form so you lessen the chance of heart attack. Don’t sleep with your cellphone in your room. Turn it to airplane mode and put it outside your room somewhere. When you begin incorporating all of these things, do them one step at a time so you don’t overwhelm yourself. If I was mentally stronger, I would own dogs to keep my mental health up, but I don’t think pets are the answer. When my chihuahua died, I went into deep depression and could barely function. The heartbreak was unbearable. It was so bad that now I won’t allow myself to own anymore dogs. Instead, I put on my compression socks and take long walks. The other things that have helped me ….1 - Not having kids. Cuts down potential lifelong stress and I don’t want to pass down my anxiety/panic gene. 2 - Getting a job which you can easily do when having a panic attack (more labour-intensive and less need to socialize/converse with people or customers).

You have some real issues. If you stop worrying you will get better. Your issues will not benefit in any way. with health anxiety. Stress will only bring more symptoms. Anxiety makes heart beat fast. Do not tell people to stop googling! Do not stop googling. I had cancer a stage 3b level breast cancer with a very high chance of recurrence triple negative. I had a pain in my hip last week 😮and I got very scared thinking it was bone cancer - I could feel something moving - it was a mass. I googled and found out it is actually a common thing that can happen known as bursa tronchanterica - but I wasn’t in any pain. So I diagnosed myself before I went for the X-ray to confirm it. So Doc Google saved me from days of anxiety. 😅

Hey! I have a question. I am currently also suffering from a health anxiety, specifically regarding ALS. Would a good type of exposure be to watch the moive about Stephen Hawking? or perhaps videos by him? Because the though of watching such videos or movies make me afraid at the moment? Please answer if this is a type of exposure you would recommend, or whether it would be "to strong of an exposure"? ... Best wishes, Meradj.

I also struggle with the thought of having als or ms. I’ve had multiple MRIs on my back and neck. I’ve even had an issue swallowing lately. I try to stay positive as much as I can and keep my mind off it. Really is tough.

@@polishsnipez7_593 lol, I also have the thing where it feels thought swallowing sometimes. But my "symtoms" move. One day it is the throat, the next the hands, next the feet. - - I feel, however, that the exposure therapy stuff work. Why did you do mris on your neck?

I watch NDE podcast. ( can’t remember his last name.... first name - Jeff)......... for UNKNOWN REASON??? Many ppl have them lately ( near death experiences)......... OFCOURSE........ MOST ppl are not in a rush to get their, but these ppl LOSE ALLLLLL fear of ANYTHING!! I can not imagine living like that...... I mostly watch them because they are always full of pure love joy and bliss. ❤️🙏🙏🌿.........Is this is simple but I also say........ is that something that is vital that I need to worry about today??? I’ll think about it tomorrow. And I do this every day, lol until I forget about it for a week or two...........worrying is a HOBBY, we get VERY GOOD @ it!!!......... our primal brain THINKS it is doing a GREAT JOB protecting us...... It’s not!!! ( ANXIETY GUY. Is also an AMAZING PODCAST to listen to.........I can bing watch all day, lol....... but we have a joyful life to live! Think of our blessings. Matter how shitty or fearful you feel, continue on with your day. It’ll make you stronger and make your primitive brain weaker..... sharing your successes, little as they may seem...... SHARE THEM, like I’m doing..... all these things help me ....... & I HOPE I can help at least one person have a better day, maybe LIFE....... ❤️❤️❤️spread LOVE COMPASSION & support....... it s FREE to give!!

Because thinking of death can cause panic attacks. It can cause disassociation, and phantom symptoms. Knowing your body is functioning correctly, and isnt failing is a very reassuring feeling. Those fears of death can cause you to hyperfocus and its health. Yes you can consider but try to stay in reality, dont let yourself fixate.

I feel like this seminar can be summed up with you saying health anxiety can only be cured when you say F it, and just get over it.
