Your enthusiasm for instruments that you like is contagious. loud and bright I think that would be perfect for lead playing or fingerpicking. great review as always!

I’m glad you go on about instruments that get you excited ! It shows your passion for the instrument. It is bright ! But the slightly selfish player in me would love to standout in a group of players ! Lol. Keep up the high standards your channel is known and loved for ! Cheers from sunny San Diego California.

This is am amazing ukulele for the price! It is super bright, but I bet a low G would sound fabulous on it. I am a sucker for a slotted headstock, too! I love it! Thanks, Baz!

i love instruments like this one that look super simple but have amazing sound. they look so unassuming but are far better than so many instruments that look fancy but don’t live up to it in their sound. wonderful review!! :)

Handsome uke, but I do wonder about the color choice for the headstock veneer. I agree that it cries out for linear tuning.

Thanks for reviewing and introducing to me, a brand I was aware of but had never checked out. It looks like an excellent instrument and value proposition. I believe it has as thin a laminate top as I've seen. It sounds great to me. My guess is that a string change warms up the tone a bit.

I got that long neck soprano and it's one of my favorite ukes. I almost bought this tenor too but I'm considering one of their all solid mahogany ukes...

I have a Famous FS-1G (Famous is the in-Japan brand of Kiwaya) that I really like. I've been thinking of getting a second ukulele; a tenor to put low-G on. I'm still a beginner so this might be just the ticket.

I Like the color and don’t mind the brightness. I like the neat plain looks of this ukulele but I don’t like the slot style head on ukuleles. I do on guitars. I think I would put new Nygut strings on it. I like DD fluorocarbon on most of mine with the exception of my Saprano which has the New Nygut . This is so bright that the Aquila strings may bring it down a peg. Excellent instrument though. Great review as always….DOC .. Go 🏴
You got me to buy a laminate Kiwaya a few years back when you reviewed their long neck soprano, I didn't buy that one specifically but the concert version instead - I really like that uke! This one seems great too.

Love the headstock and the black edging along the neck. Nice and tidy looking. It is very jangly sounding. But like you say clear and loud. Perhaps owing to its super thin top. Yeah I think this would be one I’d choose to have a low G. :)

Like all Kiwaya I have seen - unbelievably thin and precise in the build.

I have a question on the top laminate thickness. How thin is it in millimeters? Trying to get an idea on what to look for in laminate tops for future reference since their thickness plays an important role in sound quality. Thank you.
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
I couldn't tell you i'm afraid, as it was only with me on loan. No longer here to check it. As laminates go though, Kiwaya make some of the thinnest I have seen
@jakealthouse120 Жыл бұрын
@@GotAUkulele Alright thanks anyway. Any idea on a good estimate in what thickness to look out for, or do you have any other ukuleles that have a good thin top you can measure?
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
@@jakealthouse120 Couple of mm as I recall - but it's not such an exact science - it's also about how the laminate is made - pro grade ply is pressed very strongly together which adds to quality. Thin ply loosely put together with a soft wood core is not going to be as good no matter how thin you make it.

Off topic question but, can you install strap buttons on a uke that doesn't have any? One music store told me you can't drill a hole in a uke but another one said you can.
@GotAUkulele3 жыл бұрын
yes you can - though you need to ensure there is a tail block inside. I installed one live on camera once - see - kzbin.info/www/bejne/moWmkKaXjLZrerc

@GotAUkulele3 жыл бұрын
What on earth is a 'low G video'? A low G is just a string change. You could put a low G on this instrument. It's not only certain instruments that can use them
