thanks guys, always learning and your info is very useful, as always. Great also to learn any new sources for free tech specs; so hard to pay everyone when you're got 25 different makes potentially coming in.

Thanks Alex! I'm great to hear you are finding our classes useful! I totally agree, finding new free tech specs is like Christmas for a tech. The more info we can get the happier we are! Mike Becker, Technical Services Instructor

Loved this vid. I was ESPECIALLY interested in Fritz explaining that Mode1 cannot infer other info to make a broken component seem to have a good signal. Brilliant! Would you guys be able to do a series on each mode? A good (with examples) length of class. And if what you say about Mode6 could take hours, then how about a two or three parter? The main thing for me is "real life" examples to highlight proper use of the scope/scan tool. Loved the class! Fox. N/W Scotland.
@GoTechTraining6 жыл бұрын
Hey Fox, sure, we may be able to do that at some point. I definitely feel like there is a need for a further understanding of the "modes" out there. I'll look into doing something. Thanks! Mike Becker, Senior Technical Instructor

Thanks Scott! Glad you enjoyed it. That is really interesting about mode 10 and a 400 day memory. I guess it makes sense. You are right too with the preset values. I've seen too many guys going and chasing down the wrong path because of those preset values. Thanks for watching my friend! MIke Becker, Technical Services Instructor

Can you clarify how the current drive cycle misfire count can be higher than the 10-drive cycle count? I would think the 10-cycle count would have to be at least equal to, or higher than the current drive cycle.
@GoTechTraining6 жыл бұрын
Hey, I believe that the current cycle is not added to the 10 cycle count until after the cycle is complete. Mike Becker, Senior Technical Services Instructor

I have a question about mode6 , if I cleared the codes and the vehicle hasn't run the monitors ,any readings at that monitor that isn't ready are accurate ? or the monitor has to ran in order to have accurate reading? thank you I hope I can make myself clear.
@GoTechTraining8 жыл бұрын
Hi David, in order for you to get decent accurate information the monitor does need to run, or at least attempt to run. If you clear the codes, and then look at mode $06, you won't see anything worthwhile. That is a great point to bring up, thank you. I'll be mentioning this comment in the next TechConnect video. Thanks again! Mike Becker, Technical Services Instructor
@JuanFernandez-zv2oz8 жыл бұрын
Could be neither. Tools and interfaces differ, not all misfires throw codes (although it should on most modern ecus).
@GoTechTraining8 жыл бұрын
You're completely right. Neither tech is correct in that question. Unfortunately I am only able to give away t-shirts if you answer the question live. December 1st is our next class. At 11 and 2 PM central time. Hopefully you can join us! Mike Becker, Technical Services Instructor

I thought OBDII global did NOT substitute information in vehicle data? Am I wrong?
@GoTechTraining7 жыл бұрын
Bart, That is correct. MODE$1 can NOT infer or substitute data. Live data, on the other side of the scanner can. Global/generic data found in MODE$1 can not! Sorry if this was not made clear in the video. Mike Becker, Technical Services Instructor
@bartscave7 жыл бұрын
You were clear, that's why I asked. I was always under the impression that enhanced factory data could have substituted values but generic OBDII data wouldn't. I must be wrong there.
@peteraazar94427 жыл бұрын
hey mike is tech b correct?
@GoTechTraining7 жыл бұрын
Hey Peter, sorry no, Tech B is not correct. Many vehicles can misfire and not store a code. It all depends on the misfire counter threshold. Ford's are super common to miss and not set a code! Mike Becker, Technical Services Instructor

would rather buy a Autel and spend the money on a Pico scope $10 grand for a snap on scan tool/scope(verus) an autel with the j2534 box is like 3900 at most and you can get a pico for like 2K there you go.. $5900 and the autel updates are a lot cheaper..
@70corwin7 жыл бұрын
Autel sucks, half the shit listed doesn't even work when you click on it. it graphs data pids horribly unlike the versus that graphs awesome.. I guess that's what you get from a reversed engineered stolen software and law suits. The verus edge and the Zeus hands down the best for a aftermarket shop. Pico scopes are awesome but the ones ive been looking at are 4 channel with all the automotive leads are over 5k. Verus scope is very easy to use and has all the pin-outs and specs which always makes it the first grab anyway. Pico needs to come out with a handheld model thats not a cluster to use with a laptop under the hood.

@GoTechTraining7 жыл бұрын
8power0, what do you mean? This is a class covering mode diagnostics....not scan tools. What does Snap-On have to do with any of it? Almost all full function scan tools can pull the 10 different modes of generic data. Mike Becker, Technical Services Instructor
