The song "We are" was composed, inspired by these young people. That’s why performing it with them brings a sense of unity and delivers something far beyond just music-something truly powerful. It’s also my favorite live performance by ONE OK ROCK. The first time I saw One Ok Rock was in NY. I drove 5 hours to see them because I wasn’t sure how frequently they play in the US. When I got there, a nice Japanese guy and his wife saw me looking for a spot to stand, and offered a spot next to them. I thanked them and we talked after the show, apparently their daughter was apart of this performance, and the dad said it made him cry every time he watched it. I thought that was so sweet. He said they came over to the US and felt at home, and said if I ever went to Japan, maybe it would feel the same way. I definitely felt it when I took my trip there last year. Such a sweet couple, I won’t forget that moment and this amazing performance

This was a project for a Japanese TV program. The program was about 2 hours long, and this video is the last clipping. The contents are explained below. At that time in Japan, the turning point of 18 years old was attracting attention, such as the right to vote being given from 18 years old instead of 20 years old. Amidst this, a TV station came up with a project to have ONE OK ROCK collaborate with 18-year-olds. It had not yet been decided whether they would sing a song. The conditions for participation were to be 18 years old and to have a strong passion. Many videos were collected from all over Japan, including videos of people beating drums, videos of people riding long distances on bicycles, and videos of people talking about their past failures. There is actually a whole documentary even on KZbin somewhere how this performance came together, but subtitles are a must. In actuality this is how the song was born itself - written for entirety for this moment and message, this is the very first official We Are performance from what I've seen in the documentary. Dozens of people submitting their videos to OOR while the band reviewing them about their struggles and reacting to them. It was a long process, but created such amazing performance.

I wish people would request this version more than the other and link the version with the whole video. Seeing them go through every video to select the 1000 people makes this performance even more incredible. You learn more about this song and why Taka wrote it. Seeing 1000 18 year olds sing this song that Taka wrote for them and the emotion is truly incredible. Only OOR could do something like this. This version makes the 2018 Ambitions version so much more powerful because you understand how much it means to teens in Japan. You really have to check out "Nobody's Home" live at Yokohama arena 2013 next. This is the most emotional performance Taka has ever given. We've seen Taka get emotional a lot, but he's never broken down like he does on this performance. He wrote this song for his parents to apologize for all of the trouble he caused them over the years, which led to him running away and his parents disowning him. This was the first concert his parents went to, which is why he's so emotional. At the end he yells out that he loves them. After the reaction you really should look up the lyrics. It'll help you understand why it's so personal. The more you learn about Taka and everything he's gone through you see why he's so special and the most emotional vocalist. ONE OK ROCK have been my favorite band for over 13 years now. I love them so much. This song makes me cry every time I listen to it. Their messages are so beautiful and Taka's voice is the most beautiful in the whole world imho. And I absolutely LOVE your reaction videos to them!
