It never really gets mentioned in the anime, but Puck HAD to break the contract with Emilia if there was any hope for her to pass the first trial. The reason why is there is so much tragedy and trauma in her past that one of the terms of her contract with Puck was her memories would be sealed. But because the first trial is facing what has happened in your past, and because of the terms of the contract, she had no hope of passing it. But because Puck broke the contract and her memories began coming back to her - AND because of the support Subaru has shown her - she's able to confront her past this time around.

The reason why Regulus is a million and Betelgeuse was 10 is because of their authorities and their compability with it, just like when Subaru used invisible hand in the last episode, the kick from using it was him puking, Subaru isnt slothful, he is dilligent, the opposite of the authority, so hes not good with it, did Betelgeuse in first season look slothful at all? Also all bishop abilities are different, so far we know about Gluttony, which could be described as "debuffs" for now, eating memories etc, Betelgeuse was purely invisible attack or just flying thanks to it, regulus destroyed a carriage and cutted of crush's arm just by... standing... other authorities work totally differently too, theres no bishop with similar abillity, you will see soon and you can speculate yourself :P Also we can see Regulus is very, very greedy, " Me , me, me, my rights, my right to speak", in first episode he cutted of Crush's arm only because she jumped in while he was talking- she trampled on his right to speak, he has RIGHTS, nobody can deny them from him Author said the "safest" archbishop is/was Betelgeuse(he didnt even kill people without reason, for example otto, he left him alive for some time), IMO right after Betelgeuse I would say Regulus is the second "safest" archbishop to meet, as long as you dont trample on his rights...

After Emilia beat him, she started tearing up because she knew Petelgeuse, but she didn't remember him. Also Geuse is a spirit that possesses other people, so he is hundreds of years old. He can only possess other people that have an affinity for spirits, like Subaru, that hasn't made a contract yet. That's why he wouldn't be able to possess people like Emilia or Julius, because they were already contracted with one.

As subaru and his party was fighting against the whale, during that time interval, the big beast wolf dude was also a part of subarus party against the whale. The wolf dude saved otto from betelgeuse in the cave by freeing him, telling him that subaru was the one who saved otto not him because he works under subaru temporarily. So yes otto feels like he owes his life to subaru, also yes otto didn't steal anyone's girlfriend without their permission, its more like he got into a relationship with the rich girl from his village and didn't know she was dating another dude and the other dude found out about it and automatically suspected otto because he's the zodda bug weirdo, and cause the wife's a lying scumbag. He used his animal powers to figure out the truth and revealed to the guy that she cheats on basically every guy she has been with without them knowing. And he gets driven out because she gets mad and hires goons after him, otto used his merchant connections to get that merchant job from his older brother to escape and leave from the bitchs grasps. Oh also about the joke scene between subaru otto and Garfiel at the end there, its about last episode when Garfiel walked in and saw the writings on the wall for Emilia before Garfiel fought with subaru and even before subaru returned to comfort Emilia. The writings on the wall were basically him confessing his love for her, thats why he had to break the promise to stay with her. He was too anxious to be with her in person because of the mansion thing so he thought it'd be best to write it all in text on the wall even confessing his love for her there. The Seven Deadly Sins Bishop's abilities come from the Witch Factor of the Seven Deadly Sins Witch. Their strength depends on their compatibility with the Witch Factor. The author has said that the Greedy Bishop has the power to defeat and even kill some of the weaker of the Seven Deadly Sins Witches. Subaru is relatively weak in this regard. I'm not sure how that compatibility is reflected in Subaru though. He can't use Sloth as well, and it causes him plenty of pain to do so. Petelgeuse had to bite his fingers to activate it, so does it just need pain to work, or do they both just suck with it? When Subaru gets his Greed Witch Factor that he names "Little King", he more or less inverts its power. I wonder if that's because he's compatible with it, so he can direct its purpose, or is that just how the factor is expressed when used by him? Or maybe he's not compatible, because he feels a little of everything that happens to everyone connected to him?

Emilia calling her aunt, mother, reminds me of myself and my siblings as we also call one of our aunts "mom (insert name here)". A BIG point was made not many episodes ago about how Spirits do not have internal organs or blood, but are instead comprised of mana/spiritual energy. We are directly shown this. Ergo, it is *impossible* for him to be a spirit. Many humanoid races can have long lifespans and possession techniques are hardly special to spirits either. No evidence specifically points to him being a spirit with plenty saying he cannot be.

In this Timeline Otto get captured by the cultists and Subaru send out people to clear out the hideouts, there they found otto and rescued him. The little ferals bound oto to a stick for interogation and subaru there again freed otto and told the other people, that he is a trustworthy guy. That is the reason, why otto feels obligated to subaru and build freindly ties with him in this timeline. Also in this timeline otto drove the wagon like crazy to catch up to emilias wagon with the firestones about to explode. Hope that helps to sort out what happened in what timeline.

Personally I think Emilia's parents sacrificed themselves to seal the Witch of Envy and Emilia's mother was just a different kind of witch which is why Emilia is being called a witch and seen as a potential host of the Witch of Envy back in season 1. Although that doesn't explain why she looked like Emilia when joining the tea party since she shouldn't be possessing Emilia at that time, maybe she's just able to change which form she has for Subaru's sake.

When Subaru first meets Minerva, in the light novel, he shouts "boobs". This shows that Subaru is very attracted to Minerva. If Subaru is Flugel, then Flugel is also attracted to Minerva. Satella must have known about this and became Envy, killing all of the witches, because she was jealous that Flugel was attracted to Minerva. (Flugel died because noob, and Subaru borned by Satella who accidentally reincarnated herself as Emilia. The reason Subaru loves Emilia and has shadow gardens is also because Satella (evny) did this to him. Puck is cat because, using the tome of wisdom, Echidna knew Otto is attracted to cats, and he actually stopped talking to Emilia, not because of Roswaal, but because Otto began to get closer to Emilia camp, and he was scared of being assaulted by Otto.)

From what it looks like, the moderate faction was lead by Betelgeuse and wasn't doing anything evil, seems like they were more passively carrying on the wishes of the witch's cult. Meanwhile, Regulus owned the radical faction, which seems to always have been more hostile. there is a reason why you dont see moderate witch's cult members anymore, its directly tied to the fact that betelgeuse lost his mind at some point and the moderate faction wasnt so moderate anymore. * You are right in saying that Puck knows emilia, but if you also remember in season 1, puck at few occasions called emilia his "daughter", and puck is male. i was going to theorize that puck might be emilia's parent turned into a spirit, though im not gonna lie, i went to do some digging about puck to make sure i was right, and it seems i opened a whole can of worms. uhm, all i can say is yeah its still a big mystery but youll probably find out more about puck's relationship with emilia in the coming episodes. In japanese there are multiple ways to referr to people depending on formslity and ststus... You may have already noticed the -chan, -kun, -san, -sama... At the end of names... Thise are called honorifics and denote your own character or relstionship to someone... The honorific can also be added to titles... In this case little emilia says Fortuna Kaa-sama... Meaning she is being formal to her but she is still her "mother" not in a church kind of way... That would still be "Mother/Maassa" using the actual english word but pronounced more japanese like...
