So, some clarification: - Ains isn't part of the whole invade Nazarick group. He's just there to guard the camp. -This whole thing is a result of Demiurges suggestion to make Nazarick go public. Before that happens they want to test their defenses against intruders. This is for example why the Pleiades weren't allowed to interfere. They were just there to observer how the Old Guarders would perform against a bunch of intruders. -The chains you see the Lizard people wearing is an item from Yggradsil that, if I recall, reduces a characters strength but increases their XP gain. This is to measure that items effectiveness. -As for the gold offered at the very start, it's Ains mercy so to speak. The Workers came for the offer of money, as he confirmed. So if it is money they care about, he'll give them money. Anything beyond that is their greed to defile Nazarick and where he no longer needs to show any consideration for what happens afterwards. -The elves Eyza Uryuth (or however one pronounces his name) brought along are slaves and as you guessed he's an asshole who just mistreats them. I believe he even had them cut their ears. But don't worry. Nazarick realized they were there against their will and didn't harm them. I believe they currently work for Aura and Mare as their maids/caretakers. -The aforementioned collars are also the reason Ains is fighting. (Among other reasons.) But it's a test to see if he could potentially break past level 100 in the new world.

the gold in the entrance was actually something the guild ppl had to setup as a stipulation for them to make their guild base work. had limitations by the game engine how to build not allowed to make unfair layouts - needed to have a valid way to the core, traps loot for other player etc if didnt fulfilled all the settings would get massive penalties on the base.

They actually enjoyed living in Nazarick and beg not to be go back when Ainz offered it. The only one who got a sort of happy ending in this raid. Escape Slavery and now eating goods in Nazarick.

16:50 The reason they were concerned is because the guy who destroyed the undead is a cleric. Overlord is heavily inspired by D&D. In D&D clerics have an ability called Channel Divinity which lets them "turn" undead, (essentially making the undead terrified of them) and at higher levels they have Destroy Undead, which is self-explanatory. The latter is what you saw. The downside? It can only be used once per "long rest" (essentially once per day). He took a calculated risk using it, hoping that it wouldn't become necessary later.

Great intuition with the crypt full of gold being "way too convenient", it was one final subtle test to see if they were driven solely by greed or not. That gold was more than enough to set them for life, but they chose to continue looking for more riches deep below which sealed their fate. edit: Ainz asked them why they wanted to go before the mission and they said money, so he gave them a chance by giving them said money before needing to step into the tomb :)

Answering Questions: 16:40 skills like this normally have a limited number of uses per day 21:40 those are elder lich’s like the one that was leading the attack against the lizardmen. It took all of the lizards best warriors working together to beat 1 of them, now the working team is running from a horde. 22:07 This is the first floor of Nazarick(the floor closest to the surface). Floors 1-3 are catacombs with patrolling undead and are the Domain of Shaltear. However, the teleporter transported that worker team a bit deeper to floor 2 or 3. Another teleporter seems to have transported the main worker group to the colosseum on floor 6. 23:40 Kyouhukou’s room is also where the leaders of the 8-fingers were taken at the end of season 2 apparently where they spent some time being eaten alive, healed, and eaten again before being released. 25:27 “tentacle dude” That’s a girl, she runs a fancy Torture chamber and is jealous of Albedo. 30:12 yeah notice that they are elves with their ears cut off, and shabbily dressed they are slaves being forced to obey him out of fear. This is also why they are happy when the asshoel leading them is defeated. The elves do end up getting lucky and become caretaker servants for Aura and Mare because they didn’t enter the tomb by their own choice. 37:50 oh there is a central storyline this season, its just still cooking.

Just in case you missed it during the Lizard Arc. Nazarick has a "professional" skeleton army that is based in the tomb. After it became real, they can be deployed outside Nazarick just like the other NPCs as seen when Ainz showed himself to the Lizards. They are the Nazarick Old Guarders - 3000 strong, Elder Guarders- 2000 strong (Silver armor) and Master Guarders - 1000 strong (Gold armor). They are also still POP monsters so they have unlimited respawns after a period of time. And they ALL have magical weapons/armor. In the LN, when the Lizards saw them, they were basically going holy crap, what kind of mythical army were they seeing. So then, the Elder (Him saying that they were the strongest to the maids was truly confusing for them) and his party were trashed by the lowest ranked of them. Yeah, Nazarick don't need their Lvl 100 NPCs to do anything, the tomb's normal spawn can take over the world on their own.

(I'm avoiding spoiling anything jic, so here's the best argument I can give) Remember in season 1, Ninya (the adventurer from Swords of Darkness) mentioned that there are dragon's in this world, and at the start of season 2, we get to see the "old" woman talk to a dragon and Ainz mentioned a nation north of the Re-Estize Kingdom ruled by dragons. And remember, undead are weak against both holy and fire.

Ainz kept them alive and tried to get them to be friends with Aura and Mare since those two are also dark elves. That didn't work out well, but they are fine!.. Unlike, you know, everyone else. Oh also Kyouhukou (Giant roach guy) is actually pretty chill. It's just that him and his family aren't given much food so they usually cannibalize eachother. Having humans sent to them is like a feast. In normal conditions he wouldn't kill random humans if he didn't have a good reason.

I don't think it's ever mentioned in the anime, but those elves unironically lucked out in being taken there. People realized they were there against their will, and they end up living happily as maids (or sorta foster mothers since they're the first adult elves Ainz has found) for Aura and Mare. And the reason for the restrictions on defenses was to test whether Nazarick's automatic spawns can handle invaders who are considered pretty capable in this world. The answer is "easily".

Remember what Momonga/Ainz said at the beginning of the series? Many players tried to invade Nazarick, but no one made it ever to the Throne Room. And Nazarick was a dungeon, where many, many guild parties failed to conquer it, long before it became the Guild Base of the Ainz Ooal Gown Guild. And if those Players are only half as addicted to the game, as the Player of Momonga/Ainz, they were all at maximum (100) Level. So, yes. There is a greater Story that's being told here, it may just not be fully apparent yet (but tbh I at least saw Progress back when I watched it for the first Time). Ainz's question last episode was "why are you here" and the answer he got is "we're here for treasures" he was trying to alleviate the burden of guilt by confirming the workers' intention. it's easier to not feel bad if you know that the people you're killing were just greedy graverobbers and not people who has families to support. We know the blonde girl has sisters that are waiting for her, but Ainz doesn't know that, much like how when we play a video game, the random mob we killed probably had a life but since we don't know it, we kill them without guilt.

And in the light novels you see that with the elf girls who are spared. They were slaves who really had no choice about being there and so they hadn't really acted against Nazerick in a way that would justify killing them. Besides, Mother Hen Ainz worries about Mare and Aura being "children" so he liked the idea of keeping some elves around for them to learn from.

Funfact (unironically): the poor lady entourage from the Asshole Guy were slaves and actually end up being caretakers for Aura and Mare, being shown mercy since they were forced to participate against their will and since Momonga was looking for other elves as companions for Aura and Mare anyway. Pretty much the only people who entered Nazarick uninvited and got a sweet gig out of it. Sadly it's not mentioned in the anime (it does have a habit of skipping over a LOT of things, especially fluff).

I couldn't find anyone saying this already, so I will. This whole episode was censored like crazy when adapted from the novel to the anime. My favorite part that we didn't get to see was the funnel trap. It was with the group who ran from the horde of elder litches casting 'fireball'. Basically, when they ran into that room they discovered that the floor was slanted down into a funnel, at the center of which was a hole. At the edges of the room bloated and rotund undead started rolling down the slant. Then when they hit something, they would explode. Most of the party slipped on the slant and/or were hit by the grotesque bombs and fell in the hole. Only two manged to climb back out and were teleported to Kyohuko's(bug guy's) room. You asked why only two guys ended up there, thats why Love your reactions Luke😊❤ take care!

Just to clarify one thing in the beginning: In order to make Nazarick a country, like Demiurge had planned, revealing it to the world was the first step. That's why "new ruins were suddenly discovered". That being said, Ainz knew intruders that he'd have to kill would show up, hence why he asked them what their goal was, and was satisfied learning they were doing it for money and had been paid enough to assume risking their lives.

Also note, the humans who enslaved the elves cruelly cut the points off of their ears as a sign of their humiliation. Makes you wish they'd meet Frieren... or since this is Overlord, Mare. After all, if Nazarick wanted to gain some reputation, it would certainly be tougher to achieve if people outside knew that Nazarick is a place of suffering where death is a mercy. 36:33 They now want Nazarick to be known to the public. That was part of Demiurge's suggestion to Ainz on episode 2 of the current season. The plan is to rise as a nation, except that they don't actually own any land at the moment, so they will need to seize it from another. The workers will die, yes, but they entered the tomb to rob it, even if Ainz mention that he lured them into Nazarick, though he does not mention how. Ainz could claim self defense, or he may do something else. To recap, Ainz took the job to protect the workers things during the expedition as Momon at the Adventurers Guild in Arwintar, the capital of the Baharuth Empire. Fluder Paradyne, the Empire's Wizard, is the one that Gazef Stronoff mentions to be a freak in terms of strength (and is very wary of) in Season 2 when he was describing Ainz's strength as superiour to Fluder's. While Momon was in the Empire's capital, a knight informs Fluder that a group of adamantite adventurers known as Darkness, which is how Momon and Nabe are collectively known as adventurers, was seeking an audience with him. Though we don't see if they actually talked, afterwards, Ainz, while walking through the Empire's capital as Momon, tells Nabe that Fluder told him of the Emperor's reforms, so we are to understand that they actually talked, though we don't know what. It is after this that the workers were hired by one of the remaining nobles in the Empire to go to Nazarick. This noble appeared to still be very affluent since he was apparently very generous with the pay to the workers, and because he had sleipnir steeds, which are apparently very expensive and are mostly used by the Empire's royalty and a few select nobles. Of course, the fact that the pay was so generous means that this noble, or whomever was behind him, knew to some degree that this job could be extremely dangerous and needed to give a very good incentive. Therefore, very likely Ainz leaked the existence of Nazarick to Fluder so that the Empire would send the workers to investigate with low profile and be killed in the attempt for reasons yet unknown. 37:55 There is a plot to the season, but you will need to see a few more episodes to see the big picture.

Mare asked what Aura did to her, and she said she gave her to Kyouhukou, and his children ate her from the inside out before she was healed again. Now you know what exactly that entails.

They are all soldiers of fortune. If any of them had said for adventure or for knowledge when Ains (as Momon) asked his question, they might have been spared or not tortured at least, but they all answered money, so he is repaying their greed in kind. The scene at the pub where the the four adventurers gather is super important because it establishes that they COULD just stop and live normally, but they lust for that one last score. Even the prodigy girl could just run with her siblings, but instead she thinks getting more money will put her family back together (incorrect.) Taking care of so many notable Workers at once draws out the adventurers and helps Nazarick announce itself as a nation, who will be "retaliating" (even though they set the Workers up) against the overworld.

I already left this as a reply to someone below, but I'll repost this in case some people are still confused by the treasure found by the Workers in the beginning and its significance: If you remember, when Momon/Ainz asked the Workers their goal for entering(invading?) the unknown tomb, the reason they gave was money. So Ainz put out enough treasure for them to take and leave, enjoying the rest of their lives in leisure. And the fact that even despite that they entered the tomb, he judged them and their greed to be beyond saving, having ignored the Great Tomb of Nazarick's ruler's final mercy.

Two clues to help you at least suspect is, anytime Ainz seems to be acting a bit chunii and over the top and if it’s a situation where Ainz could be at danger, it could likely be PA.

those people who entered Nazarick, none of them really died, the two people who were trapped in the cockroach man's place became a food supply for life, they were eaten and then healed and then eaten again over and over again, the same fate also happened to the man caught by that "beautiful lady". So yes, in Nazarick death is a form of forgiveness

He's really horrible to those elf slaves so it's no wonder they are happy when he dies. We see briefly in the anime that he hits them but if I recall in the LN it's implied he's abusing them in all sorts of ways including physically and sexually. He cuts their ears to humiliate them and because he hates elves which makes them fear him more. They finally get the courage to stand up to his orders once they realise what a hopeless fight he's in. His hands being cut off triggered it as that is probably what they feared the most since those hands did all kinds of horrible things to them. Thankfully Ainz shows them mercy as they were forced into the tomb as slaves, he also restores their ears to what they were. They live with Aura and Mare in the big tree as Ainz felt that having other elves to interact with would help their development. Since they live in such a huge tree (trees are houses for elves and theirs looks like a palace to them with tons of rooms inside" they figured that Aura and Mare are royalty and dote on them, not allowing them to do anything for themselves which annoys them lol. We unfortunately don't get to see any of this in the anime that is currently available. We only really saw them again in the most recent arc in the LN when Ainz decides to ask them questions about dark elf villages.

They were mentioned briefly as having taken up residence on the 6th floor which Aura and Mare are in charge of and they have begun almost worshipping the twins. The twins find them annoying but ainz offhandedly said to let them serve them so they are tolerating them.

It's too bad the anime didn't animate all the things that happened in the LN when they invaded. Like the suicide bombers or mimic door trap. Also they didn't really explain the primary reason for the test. In the game, there was a mechanism that drained your treasury if you made your base in a way that didn't let you get to the bottom. They left a line in on that in the anime but they could have internally monologed it to explain it better.

Hio the problem with the ability "turn Undead" if i remember it correctly he can only do it a EXREAM limmited amound of times (around 6 or 8 times a day) so they want to preserve that card as much as possibel. The chain coller is a item that can increas exp gain (i don´t know how mutch) so it is used to incrase the effichancy of the training
