Yeah I actually enjoy seeing uncommon openings. Gotham should have just sacrificed his knight after he f’d up. He kept complaining about how he shouldn’t have moved his knight there but that was literally his only open square, and should have realized that. His knight became useless. But I guess that speaks to his ability since he was essentially playing down an entire piece the rest of the match.

I’ve found that AI chess programs have a difficult time throwing games, especially in endgames. In the middle game, they’ll play perfectly for a bit and then blunder a heavy piece. It feels fake, like you’re playing your dad and then he does something stupid to let you win.

There's no real way to "blunder by accident" for them, please remember that chess engines reached an unbeatable standard for humans many years ago, the only way to even get a chance of winning against them is to program them to do exactly that: To act "like your dad doing something stupid to let you win". Most moves humans play are probably inaccurate for AI standards, because it could always calculate a way to punish any given move 32 turns in the future, whenever it doesn't do that it's because we programmed it to act stupid to not hurt our feelings.

In the second game Nd5 was a horrible brilliancy, bots are often programmed to blunder but then they compensate by finding really obscure moves.
