@SmellWhatTheRockIsCookin That's a weird way to look at it. It's his job to make content. He puts a roof over his head by making content people want to see. By that logic, simply going to work every day is also a "money grab". He's probably recognizing that he's making enough money with everything he has going on, so he can afford to just play good chess for himself. Not everything is an act and not everybody is only thinking about maximising profits for everything all the time

I've been following your videos for a few years now. Tbh I don't really care whether or not you make it to GM (although I'd be very happy if you did). You are a very skilled player regardless, and maybe it's enough. There are many GMs in the world, but personally, I feel the impact of your videos is far greater than having the title. You inspire people to either play or follow chess, bring attention to the game. For me, your videos help me get through depression, being a big part of my coping mechanisms, knowing that I will probably have a Gotham video to watch before going to sleep. You are a great content creator and you know how to appeal to people. Also, I think it takes a lot of courage to be this transparent and expose yourself in your weaker moments. Keep at it Levy, you are at the top in your own thing, which probably for many people is more meaningful than the game itself

Man, you're so eloquent. The way you are able to express these concerns even though they are issues that reach pretty deep sometimes. You are always able to just turn on the camera and talk about it. And when someone calls you toxic (which I see where they get the idea from), you just tell them they are plain wrong. And I dont know if that confidence is real or not, but at least youre just saying things the way you see them. And the way you speak up against Hans Niemann, Kramnik and the bozos in your comments, that is admirable. The videos you put up yesterday on Gotham Games were perhaps my favorites. Not bc of the chess, but because you were mad and started venting. But that made you feel real. And maybe to some people you are toxic, but to me you are funny, confident and real. And the fact that you can tell someone off one moment and be more humble like this video in another shows the character of a great person. The pin of shame was kinda funny at times, but maybe it is time for it to go. Now you can pin other types of comments. Good luck on the remaining games. You got this

Silent subscriber since covid, I never post comments or anything but watch almost all of your videos. I think it can be hard for people who work a normal job to understand how much you have to manage yourself when you freelance or work for yourself. When you put so much effort into something, negative comments can make it feel like your soul is being stomped on - sometimes the more dumb they are, the worse it feels. Your ability to create so much content every day, getting new content out to people, is genuinely inspiring. It takes so much mental strength to get up and go, day after day, with no one telling you what to do and no repercussions if you stay in bed all day eating ice cream. But every day, you grind and give the world a little bit more. If you ever read this, I just hope you know that if you were to walk away from the game today you'll have had a more lasting impact on chess and the world as a whole than almost any GM in the history of chess. I hope you get the GM title, and I don't doubt that you will, but GM or IM, you're Levy. I'm really grateful for everything that you've done and super excited for whatever the next few years have in store. All the best, Levy.

aspiring psychologist here, you probably innately understand this at a degree but anonymity on social platforms lends promotes a bias to negative comments/interactions, and as a large content creator that inherits an attraction to gain more attention from these negative comments poking at you, just a natural phenomenon. i hope you can feel more resilient and at ease knowing that even if its not for attention, many of those comments don't actually reflect their feelings towards you or their character in general, comments are always reactionary. i have been wasting away in college for the past few weeks following a major depression and watching you has been helpful and insightful, this specific video has helped me gain a greater compassion for myself and others as well. thankfully i don't see an onslaught of negativity on this video and i think it highlights the overwhelming inpact you have considering the negativity bias mentioned before. your resilience and growth following your comeback to serious chess is legendary and i hope you have a great rest of the tourney.

Good stuff, Levy! You're on the Road to GM, not on the Road to Make Spectators Happy. As you've always taught us in chess, you have to (usually) objectively play the best move in the position, not play what you WANT the best move to be. So if at this specific point in your journey the best move is to make a draw, then you make the draw, spectators' enjoyment be damned. Also, kudos to you for nixing the pin of shame. Understandably, you did it for engagement, but I think you and your channel have grown well beyond the need for it. Always rooting for your success! - Lurking Old Man

You deserve to feel good and trust yourself Levy - win, lose, or draw. What you are doing with this channel is historic, and you pour so much energy into the community. It would be legendary if you became a GM, and certainly you will at some point in your life - maybe even soon. You know you have the talent, and the psychological game is so tough but you're doing the hard work of thinking about your own individual psychology and how to overcome the boundaries (which is very interesting for viewers still!) . I'm here for the journey man, and so grateful to be able to witness everything that you are doing and will do. Cheers!

Me too. I'd so love for Levy, to have some nice wins against a player like Pia who has accomplished so much. That would be a great accomplishment and probably confidence booster for Levy. But at the same time I just love Pia. So sweet and gentle and I just wish for her to be able to show off how incredible she is and although she is past her peak that she still got it.

I started watching you, because it was fun. Then I was impressed from your way of commenting the Hans-Magnus story, later I was impressed how you were dealing with Hans and now with Magnus, from expressing yourself occasionally in statements like here, and all this just gives me hope and joy. It's just nice to watch someone enjoying himself, being goofy for fun, but has and shows a passion and sincerity about what he is doing and overall finds it important to be a good a decent person.

Hello, Sir. I just wanted to say thank you for all what you have done for the chess community. I am following your channel since 2021 and it is not a coincidence that I started playing chess actively since 2021. You are one of the people who inspires me to play chess. I have never thought that chess will become one of my favourite hobbies. By watching your videos, not only I have improved the way I play chess, but also learned how to deal with pressure, insecurities (a lot of them), and how to enjoy the game regardless of the result. A lot of your fans and I believe in you. We know that you can play well and you are working hard to achieve your goals. Sometimes you have bad games, sure, but don't let them to seal your potential, please. The games you played so far are great. Keep up and don't focus too much on the future, but pay attention to the present. Thanks again for being our Chess Teacher, Sir. Enjoy your evening!

Levy you help people in ways I'm sure you do not even realize. Chess and your channel came into my life at the same time as my sobriety, before the pandemic. Chess has become a coping skill and you have become a constant, authentic entertainer, educator but most of all communicator. I would not have rediscovered chess with the same intensity if it wasn't for your passion, story telling skills and effective communication style. Thank you.

You are one of the best chess communicators on KZbin. Il love your candour. I struggle to understand people who are so toxic and you are far from that. Keep up the great work. You are only stupid if you don't learn from your mistakes and you are most definitely not on the road to stupid, you are on the road to learning and self discovery.
@davidk484823 күн бұрын
some people are just pricks - you have far far more people who respect and support you than detractors. you're an IM - and for someone who's just getting back into the game (thanks to you and your book BTW) i can't imagine the level you play at. it's easy for others to snipe from the protection of their computers - what level are they playing at? i'll bet it's nowhere near you, yet they feel they can talk you down. *everyone* loses games - you're playing a GM who, as you said, has been a GM longer than you've been alive - that's one of the most powerful sentences i've read in a while. to show your losses as well as your wins takes guts - but it helps us all to further learn something about the game. i'm sure i'll never be your level, but it's a beautiful, elegant and difficult game, but it is fun learning. so, in short, thank you and i think you're amazing.

Levy, hi! First of all - I really like how you just speaking about different things on the camera. It makes me feel like I have conversations with you and it is very relaxing and good thing about your content. I'd personally like to see more of the "talk videos" like this. Secondly - I really appreciate all your effort and work you putting in this channel. I truly wish you happiness and success on your life way. There is always people to hurt you emotionaly, but they all are just some rude guys who don't think about others. Thank you and good luck!
@DrTFW126 күн бұрын
It's actually really important you say these kinds of messages at the end. It so easy to "idolize" people like Levy, and forget that he's human. Levy - You're doing amazing, you have, literally, millions of people rooting for you in every area of your life (Gm title, relationship, business etc.). The haters will always hate...beat them by continuing to be your awesome self. Much love from the UK.

Levy I have never commented before, but I watched your videos for years, just because they make me feel good in difficult times - and they are engaging, fun, educational, and easy to digest. Almost every single comment here is not a comment on you as a person, but a comment on profile on KZbin that dehumanizing aspect brings forth the worst in some people acting like they were just roasting ChatGPT. It is unforgiving to make content - it is just easier for people to leave rude comments than good ones. And since KZbin comments are so easily accessible and anonymous it enhances the issue.

It's refreshing to see a KZbinr like yourself open up so candidly about this topic. As a viewer of 3 years I can tell how much you love the game of chess and the passion is felt through the screen. You make a conscious effort to connect to your audience through streams and updates and I'm sure a lot of people take for granted how much work that is. To the people complaing that he's rich or other stupid comments, remember that this stuff takes so much work. He should be paid for everything he does to better the chess community, and it's really none of our business to begin with. Thank you Levy for all that you do. Levy, you got me into chess 3 years ago. You keep me in chess when I'm not motivated to play myself. Thanks to you, I know so much more about the history and culture of chess as well as the contemporary scene and streaming boom. 3 years isn't that much when you probably have loads of day-ones from the Crew64 days, but for me, it's the stage in my life from an insanely turbulent winter as a lost 17yo to now a genuinely happy and healthy 20yo. It just feels like your content has always been there, "been through it" alongside me. I think I'll stay a viewer and subscriber for as long as you decide to keep making this impactful and inspiring content, regardless of whether chess stays in my hobbies, regardless of whether you go 1.5/11 or 11/11, of whether you have a kid and retire before 2030 or become a GM and are just getting into your true peak. We love you, наш лев! 🦁
