I think what we saw from ...Qc8 to ...Qf2# was Magnus adapting to the situation and playing super-dynamic chess. Hans couldn't adapt as quickly, as seen in no Qd2 Bxh6 or similar. That ability to adjust in a blitz game with Carlsen won't be the same in an OTB game, but one develops the skills more often in blitz and then transfers them to OTB. So, Hans has some work to do. But first, Giri.

Magnus gets revenge for what? Magnus potentially destroyed Niemann's career over a false accusation of cheating. I'm not exactly a Hans fan myself, dude's kind of an egotistical asshat, but "The Procedure" (the one that FIDE uses, not Kramnik) says that there was nothing wrong with Han's game against Magnus. Magnus, after potentially ruining Hans' career (since everyone loves and trust magnus and takes him at his word), went off claimed that he's going to be "moving on" from the cheating scandal. You don't get to just decide that you're moving on when you're the one who potentially ruined someone's professional career.

Alpha Zero was nowhere near the first engine to utilize a neural network. It was the first to employ a very specific implementation of a certain type of neural network. It was the first time high level deep learning was applied in the chess context, at least in public facing research. An early example of a single neuron being used was Texel and and early example of multiple neurons and proper machine learning being used was Stoofvlees.
