I looked for this song for 40 years and when I found it on here...I knew i wanted freedom...I quit my job 6 months later and retired...thank God it was the best decision I ever made. This all went down in December 2012....

El Camino del Rey, the great road that the Spanish Empire created in Mexico. Amazing song, it sad that the US have a negative view of Spanish culture there where was a key part in their development.

My folks and I would go to Jason's Resturant in the San Fernando Valley to see him every chance we could. I was just a young kid, but I thought he was GREAT. He would always come off stage to say hi to my parents and everyone that came. What a guy. My mom in her late 70s still asks about him once in while. I dont have the heart to tell her he is gone. WHAT A GREAT GUY HE WAS...

@@leeetchells609 it's a weird one, lots of the Californian folk blues of the 60's has been adopted by the rockabilly scene, imo great records but not rockabilly, but yet bizarrely there's rockabilly records that are frequently quoted as 50's tunes that were released in the 60's

Travelling down this highway, Highway 101 Wishing that my lonesome trip was over and done Counting off those miles, listening to that whine I Got a California woman on my mind El Camino Real take me home, back to Monterey 'Cause I didn't have much luck down in L.A. Well, I sang my songs in Montery And build up quite a name Then I went down to L.A. For fortune and fame But no one cared about me there So, now I'm coming home Travelling north on Highway 101 El Camino Real take me home, back to Monterey 'Cause I didn't have much luck down in L.A. Well, soon I'll be in Monterey And then I'll feel so fine 'Cause I'll be back with the girl That I left so far behind I'll stay right there and sing my songs Happy as can be And if L.A. wants, they can come to me El Camino Real take me home, back to Monterey 'Cause I didn't have much luck down in L.A. El Camino Real take me home, back to Monterey 'Cause I didn't have much luck down in L.A. Well, I didn't have much luck down in L.A. No no no, you know I didn't have much luck down in L.A.

Yeaah secret agent man Johmny Rivers AND ofcourse the instr.of the Ventures I'll gues "It is better to steal something good then to invent something bad". I still think Lee Dressers song is the best,,"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"
