Well as i am an asian, i guess the comment is saying being asian itself cannot be generalized to be smart. If someone (or Sungha) is asian or not is just his or her race, not meaning the one is smart 'because' his skin color is yellow. Worshipping is also the kind of discrimination.

Amazing work. What a talent. I have a doubt, hope somebody clears it for me. I am unfamiliar with this type of music that's why. Along with what he plays, there is another rhythm that plays along with it, if you listen closely. Is somebody in the background also playing along with him? Or did he prerecord all the background stuff and in this take he is playing with that recording?

Gokul Kumar, it's poly-rhythmic, the trick is in his right hand strumming pattern. Strumming while plucking gives him the ability to sustain a chord behind melody, it's a common (albeit hard to manage) technique

Sungha - The first Korean name I have ever taken the time to memorize! In his book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell theorizes that people who show truly amazing skill have usually put 10,000 hours or more towards the development of that skill. My guess is that Sungha Jung has had a guitar or ukulele in hands for at least 20,000 hours. Amazing only begins to describe this.

Something that annoys me is "Talent". He's is not talented. He is extremely dedicated and hard working. The word talent is demeaning. It implies he was born with this skill that he's clearly invested thousands of hours into. Cue the Asian comments..... Nobody is born talented.
@Hotdogguy1410 жыл бұрын
Actually he is talented... You must not have ever put together a tab of any sort, it takes a very good ear, and yes true a lot of practice, but also talent. You can't just say I wanna play the flute or in this case a guitar and learn how to play it in a couple of years. I am 16 and he is better than I can ever be, it is talent no matter how you look at it. Even if I practiced for 100 years and say I did get as good as he did, he still did it faster than me, so he technically has a talent for learning or understanding.
@GreySaltGaming10 жыл бұрын
Hotdogguy14 he stayed playing guitar when he was 2-4, I can't be sure exactly. There are videos of him at an extremely young age playing elaborate pieces of music. At such a young age, your learning rate is accelerated exponentially so he was able to grasp difficult techniques easier as he grew up with a lot of practice and a strong grounding in guitar. People use the word talent as an excuse for their lack of effort. Many people that watch him play will say he is talented and things like "I wish I was as good as he is". You can be. When I watch people like sungha jung, Tommy emmanuel, zakk wylde and many other incredible guitarists, I don't see an impossible piece to play, jealousy plays only a small role but I see what you can achieve. It's done through a hell of a lot of hard work though. Of course he is talented but talent plays such a miniscule role in the amount of time he has invested into playing guitar. It's demeaning to the work he has done.

What are tabs?
@itssnicoladsa10 жыл бұрын
They are a form of musical notation that tells you what place to press your fingers on the frets instead of musical notes that tell you what pitch/note to play. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?) Hope that helped in some sort of way xD

This young man makes me want to cry. It's a beautiful song, beautifully arranged & performed. Even if I practiced my uke 10 hours per day for the next 20 years, I doubt whether I could attain this level of proficiency. I'm getting better, but not like this! WOW!
