One possibility is to take a photo of the screen and show it on the screen. It is so much fun watching you paint along with your commentary, including the dive bombing bug! 🤭 The background noise was entertaining. You rocky out crop and water was great, as was your Mountain View. Thank you for sharing and letting me go with you on your adventure. Fran

I’m new to your channel and I’m so glad I found you! I’ll be more aware of the dates 🫣. I like to go back and catch up what I’ve missed. I’m retired and enjoying what I always wanted to do, be an artist. I did Pen & Ink, on the side and loved it. I’m working with color now, Derwent Inktense, my favorite. And Caran d’Ache neocolor ii, so much fun. Have a great weekend! Fran

So interesting to see this older video. Your painting has developed so much in the last few years. Your brush strokes are more confident and deliberate and your mark making vocabulary has really expanded. Your use of colour is much more individual and experimental and you have really developed your eye for composition. It's also good to see that you didn't emerge from the womb creating gorgeous cinematic videos replete with drone footage and meticulous editing 😂.

Dear Sarah it is interesting to see this video 3 years later. Obviously, at the present time you improve with gouache. But skills were there and you keep on. You encourage me a lot to go on. We have in common loving gouache, nature, forest, falls and river. I am especially fascinating with rocks, I can't really explain how they so much attract me !

Thanks for taking us with you painting at St. Mary's Glacier. Years ago, I visited my friend up there at her summer cabin. On the drive up, I developed the most horrible case of hives, and all I can remember about the trip is how itchy and miserable I felt. I didn't realize that gouache needs to be kept soft. Your tip for squeezing it out on a damp paper towel is great. I really like watching you work with it, but I think you have to be pretty dedicated to carry all those tubes with you. Will you be going out again this month? I'm an avid mushroom hunter, and would love to see you find and paint some mushrooms. That's what I'm hoping to be able to do at the end of this month around Wolf Creek Pass in southern Colorado.
@SarahBurnsStudio7 жыл бұрын
Tussah oh wow that sounds awful! I'm sorry you suffered. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back into the mountains though - this time of year is so busy! Regarding the tubes- yes it was a commitment, and this was definitely overkill haha. You can take a couple tubes and a smaller palette and be fine.

I freakin' love you! The reality of the malicious mosquito and yes it is just one that is going for the jugular 🤣. I'm really surprised that your old videos are quite good quality.. i mean drone shots and the way you're cutting your videos nowadays have improved but i also enjoy the simpler version. Interresting to see how your art style has developed as well. It seems to me that back then your style came more from using water color than gouache. Now you seem to block in the shapes with more opaque colours and come back for details later vs back then doing more details right from the beginning. Aside from mixing colours much different, though. When i watch your older videos they give me more confidence that i can pull off learning gouache, too 😂

I cringe so hard at my old videos lol...but I keep them up so people can see progress happens over time with dedication to your craft. It doesn't happen over night. I hope it continues to inspire people who are new to painting!

@@SarahBurnsStudio it's probably normal to bei critical with yourself more than with others. I think your artistic Skill with painting and filming even then was okay. I most of the time like KZbin for what it was meant to be.. real people showing what they do and telling others their honest opinion. I quite like the unfiltered stuff even if it means it's not always highly polished. And i think what you said about tackeling your drawing still applies today even if your art hast evolved.
@SarahBurnsStudio Жыл бұрын
@@pinsel_und_farbe_nails It's funny now that I think about it, back then I didn't overly edit my videos because I didn't know how. Then for a few years I got super excited about editing. Not that I do any crazy effects or anything, but you can kinda get sucked into that side of things. And more recently, I feel like going back to more raw footage. Just sharing the journey. Keeping things down to earth. I guess we all just have to go through things to know if it will suit us
@pinsel_und_farbe_nails Жыл бұрын
@@SarahBurnsStudio yeah i think the way of cutting and editing also depends on what you have to say and what you want to show and also the audience you're having. I think for art related videos people will accept a more laid back approach as long as you can get something out of it. At least i see it that way.. but maybe it's also because i'm not generation tiktok 😂

What great composure to stop hiking & just put your camera to work (I assume attached to your head) & start painting! May I ask what you used to attach the camera to your head & what version camera or iPhone did you use? That's a beautiful spot you chose. Too bad you couldn't stop the inner dialogue as it would have been more peaceful but then again with all the youths across the lake maybe not.

Do you like the tube gouache over your pan set that you have used in the past on streams?
@SarahBurnsStudio7 жыл бұрын
After trying both, I believe liquid gouache to be far superior to pan gouache. I could never get the pan gouache quite as saturated as I want. It felt more like painting with watercolors that are slightly opaque. But with liquid gouache I can get thick luscious layers!

I get so frustrated when I go to a quiet place to enjoy nature and people are making noise. I understand they have the right to be there, too, but for someone like me who is absolutely desperate to go somewhere peaceful, it’s extremely damaging to my mental health to be unable to find ANYWHERE that is truly quiet anymore. It’s always chainsaws, screaming, dogs barking, cars, motorcycles, children, etc. The people playing music near you brought back all that frustration I feel every time we go to the lake or mountains and people come sit right beside us and start being loud. There’s 500 bazillion miles of woods all around and people just have to choose the spot we choose every time! 😂😢
