Wow ! This gouache study is just gorgeous, I literally adore it ! 😍 The thing that I really like is that I can see that is the work of a very good draft man (draft woman ? Sorry I’m French, I’m not sure of the proper word). I can feel it in the stylisation which is so good. And it reminds me of Leyendecker’s art for this particular approach. Again, so beautiful.

I really like your thought process when it comes to studies! I always feel a little less motivated to do them because I don't have a super realistic style

You can still do them in a way. Put your own spin and style on them and do something closely inspired, rather than a direct study. It can be very relaxing to not have to worry about a concept that takes multiple references, and fun too! It's a challenge in its own right of course, though.

Why do youtubers keep calling their art pieces "studies"? That's a finished work ffs stop making novice artists bad about their studies.

It's called a study because it is a stylized copy of a photo - that's what a study is lol. Also it's very small and took a short amount of time. As a novice artist you shouldn't compare yourself to others, especially if it makes you feel bad!
