The most unfortunate thing about this collection is how it was basically a swan song for the series, as the main producer left SEGA about a year and a half after its release.

@@jamesiewalters2360 Well from what I read on Wikipedia, Sega had discontinued the series after MARZ. And no, A Certain Magical Cyber Trooper doesn't count.

I really appreciate your effort in making this video. I was a huge fan of this game when I was small in the arcade centre and never knew its name. After years I have finally come across this game in the internet and get to play this game again. Thank you brother.

Finally, a recent non-japanese review of this imperfect gem.!!!

I was pretty surprised about that too. It's partially the reason I reviewed it.

Hey man, that was a great overview of the series and I loved the video. I really appreciate that the algorithm pushed this to me because I was just recently trying to look for a physical copy of the game and couldn't find it on eBay. The results kept pulling up that weird crossover game only. It makes sense now that I know it's digital only after watching your video. I might still give it a shot on ps5 and jump through those hoops for it. I'm planning on making a video on CT too one day (but mainly just on the Saturn and PS2 version). It'll be interesting to see how it feels and stacks up against the masterpiece collection.

Thanks! I hadn't played the Saturn version in over 20 years and although it doesn't hold up as well as I remember in the visual department it's still as smooth as butter to play.

Thank you for this. I played this game once in a tiny little arcade at one of my Brother's hockey games as a kid and it had such an impact on me that I remembered it to this day, over 20 years later, despite never having known it's name. I am thrilled to hear it's still being played today and now I'm looking into ways to get back into the game I thought I lost all those years ago.

Awesome! Thank for your hard work on this review. Im sharing it on several media as Reviews of this collection are rare, if theres even any. You think you can make reviews of the other 2 games left? I mean they are kinda bad, but also very unique on themselves.

@@goukigod Hope you can. I own the Japanese MARZ on disc. For the most Hardcore players is garbage, but for me as a Lore enthusiast its a nice addition to the World Building. That said, the USA dub is atrocious... typical early 2000 game dubs LOL Regarding a Toaru Magical V-O... its weird, not exactly bad but weird...

I'm starting to get the feeling Sega has become another Harmony Gold with the Virtual-On series since they're obviously not allowed to release any of their games outside of Japan.
@goukigod7 ай бұрын
I can't imaging it's a licensing thing but who knows. Seems to me like Sega just don't think there's a market for these games in the west.

I'm surprised we didn't get virtual on marz on here. Yes the game is not the best but it is a classic
@goukigod Жыл бұрын
From what I understand it's kind of a pseudo-sequel to VOF. It never came out for the arcade and didn't review particularly well so I understand the reasons for not including it. But I agree, not having this been a complete collection of all the games feels like a missed opportunity

It would have been nice if it was released anywhere outside of Japan/Korea but setting up a Japanese account isn't that hard.

I love the idea of mech games but I'm yet to find one that really clicks. Virtual-on is the closest yet. Actually, Cyberbots is my favourite but arguably isn't a proper mech game.
