@@jroweincfrom your experience. I have a garage I want to do also. Going to use a 100 foot pro kit which is only going to use about 88 feet of it. Will be using 5 of the strands and only a few of the lights on the 6th stand. How many lights are required before app doesn’t see remaining strand? Thx

Max amount of lights on any one power supply/ controller is 120.

Great job. Im curious where you put the booster on the back with the y splits.
@jroweincАй бұрын
On this specific install, I believe we placed it on the upper level near what would be considered the “5th strand” when you y split you kinda have to use best judgement. I would recommend putting it in line with the run containing the most strands.
@SKOLXRPАй бұрын
Why did you spray the tracks after install and not before?
@jroweincАй бұрын
Moving the tracks around during install/ up and down the ladder etc can make it easy to scratch them up. Also, painting after will create the best blended seamless look with the home in the end IMO.
@dennisparker9566Ай бұрын
Awesome information. I am in the middle of install and need to make 2 y jumps, both with a immediate light run on one end and 20 ft extensions on the other side of the Y. Assuming i splice an extension midway on each 20 ft run to get the booster, should this work
@jroweincАй бұрын
Should, although I reccomend using the exension up stream toward the power in full then adding as short of splice wire as possible that way. There is more than one way to skin a cat, the important thing is not to damage the square driver and in the case of the 12ft extension I believe you need both.

@jroweinc thanks, I utilized your video to make the y splice, and it works great. How would you assemble a 20-foot extension?

Two questions. My house has soft fascia, the material is thin but not too flimsy. Are there any problems installing the Govee lights on soft fascia? Also where do you buy the tracks for the lights? Your install is very clean.
@jroweincАй бұрын
Might need to test your Brad nail gun settings a few times to dial it in for the right depth, or select the proper screw. However, no, I don’t see any issue. Tracks can be ordered at www.govpermtrack.com or purchased right from the KZbin shop link on my channel. Thank you for the kind words!

Govee pro- what’s the max length for an extension? Govee extension cords have those square blocks on the wire. Is that a data booster? What’s the max length with just 18 awg only before it needs a data booster? If using the Govee extension cord that has the data booster what’s the max length of that? Can multiple Govee extension cord be connected together?
@jroweinc2 ай бұрын
You can get about 20' with splice wire only between strands. The little square blocks are essentially data boosters/ drivers, helping to clean the signal and keep in operating range. I imagine 18 guage will work just as well, however, I use 20awg. If using splice wire in conjunction with a govee extension cable for longer runs...it is best to have the extension cable come first in the run and can generally get up to 60' when combining the two. Yes you can use multiple govee extension cables together, especially out of convenience. However, it really isn't helping you much later in the run. For homes with lots of extension needs, it is best to combine both a govee extension and splice wire together more evenly throughout.

You mentioned that you shorted (4:00 min) at the peak on each side, can you elaborate on what you did. Just cutting the distance in half or did you actually cut the wire.
@jroweinc2 ай бұрын
Cut the track shorter equally on both sides. The wire doesn't need to be cut as it can hide inside the track. Hope that helps!

Would it be more beneficial to actually plan ahead for a light to be at the peak rather than doing your shorted method? Also how do you mount a light at the peak do you have a transition piece?
@jroweinc4 күн бұрын
@@kennagel3989 yes beginning at the peak is ideal. Video up this weekend on how to do them with the track. You don’t need anything special. Just proper spacing, cut a slight angle in the track wall and put the lids and puck mount cover on.

Can the length of the wire from the power supply/ controller to the first led be altered? If so that’s the max length? In your video you have the power in the garage, it goes up and outside under the soffit and then to the first led.
@jroweinc2 ай бұрын
This was accomplished by adding a govee extension cable after the controller cable to reach start of the run at the soffit. Yes, I believe it is possible to alter both the power cable and controller cable. However, I don't recommend it. Start your extension with govee or otherwise after the controller cable.

When splicing, do you have to cut between lights, or can you simply use the supplied connectors and create, essentially, a wire segment between two Govee segments? I’m not having any luck with this approach. I used 18g wire (about 25’) and attached the supplied connectors at each end. When I put this section in between the full Govee sections, the sections on the other side of the new wire does not work correctly. I thought this would be better than actually cutting between the lights, but apparently I’m mistaken.
@jroweincАй бұрын
You need to incorporate a govee extension with driver "box" in it for that length extension likely. Also, that is correct....as the lights themselves act as a booster/ driver/ regulator to help cary the signal....there is too much voltage loss otherwise.

Question, when you Y-split, both segments do the same patterns right? So if you have a chasing effect, they would be going opposite directions (if you did the split at a corner with one going left and the other right)?
@jroweinc2 ай бұрын
Correct, in the video above the splits (upper and lower) are headed the same direction across the back. Hence the cohesiveness. Just like Y in a roadway, where you split the flow will follow

As in use romex to extend in a splice? I wouldn’t recommend it, for any govee application. Especially for direct connection to high voltage source

Looks good, just don't like how you changed the spacing on the one peak. Would rather see it land wherever it lands and have even spacing
@jroweinc3 ай бұрын
Thank you ! Sure, understandable viewpoint. Many customers want the peak light. So, it’s perhaps better to begin there when that’s the case, so even spacing can follow from there.
@lmSteveo2 ай бұрын
How different would it be to keep the spacing at it’s original length at the peak but adjust the spacing at the bottoms on the left and right peaks? It could be a perfect fit or might stop short? I guess it all depends on the length of the peaks.
