The Springboks started as amature rugby. It is and still is property of the South African public. SARU may be reprensenting the springbok symbol but it does not own it, the SA public does. If you want to own it, create your own brand, symbols etc just know that SA public won't support it. Very Well done Gayton!

Greed will be the deciding factor here, eventually!! Whose palms get greased to make it happen?Corruption is part of the culture so why not with a national sporting asset?Ticket prices, TV rights( pay per view),merchandising, branding etc, etc, etc all controlled by a private entity who control all commercial pricing?Never mind the squad we just won’t be able to afford to watch and support OUR OWN DAMN TEAM!!🤔😱

A win for South African rugby long term....sellling 20% in perpetuity for a pittance is crazy. At the very most, it should be $75 mil over 5 years and then open to others to bid for a further renewable contract.

Dallas Cowboys in the USA: it's franchise value is 5 Billion Dollars with 5 Championships under it's belt. That is equal to 88.2 Billion Rand today. Also, the request for commercial rights Forever, is unacceptable. (2 to 4 seasons perhaps - no more....see how the partnership manifests)

More or less the same as what happened to our disaterous e toll scam. The fact that this move was considered in the first place, just shows you that money talks. Why can they not grow themselves " organically "...you don't always need outside money .If you run your bizness well and you have a sought after product , you can borrow money to grow ...if not ...get people in who can ....when Dwain takes over from Rassie maybe Rassie can help . Don't sell 20 % SA rugby to an overseas bizness who promises big rewards but deliver nada because they buttered their slice on both sides ...

two countries have done it and it's a disaster, so it doesn't serve as a lesson for the others? only one national championship works really well in the world (Top14 French), so why not do the same?
