Government Pledges to Crack Down on Mobile Phone Thefts

The government says it will crack down on mobile phone 'snatch thefts' after an estimated 78,000 people had phones or bags grabbed from them in the last year. Now the Home Office wants tech companies and manufacturers to take part in a summit to tackle the problem.

I will only deal with hand me down mobile phones, and don't put much data on them. There isn't anyone I know who hasn't had their mobile phone stolen. Recently I know someone who was mugged on a bus, was pick pocketed and phone was traced to a migrant hotel near Old Street, and someone recently had a grab and dash. It is awful. The police don't care, locating it isn't worth their limited time or resources. There needs to be a tracing device that can't be switched off, unless by the owner and Apple agreement, and there needs to be some sort of hub task force in every borough that tracks the phone down.

insteas of targeting pensioners they should target the tax dodging companies. if i company thet would pay £10million in tax on profits they make in the UK but base themselves in liechtenstein to pat £0 at 0% they should pay the £10million tax difference in the UK. if they are based somewhere else and pay say £3million tax they should have to pay the difference of £7million in the UK (for profits made in the UK) why on earth do all politicians seem happy with most of the largest companies making billions in profits in the UK not paying a penny of tax? 90% of UK income/profits are made by the richest 1% of people/companies. these are the ones that can most easilly afford to pay their way in tax but they pay barely anything. also no company should be eligible for any governmen contract unless they (and their parent company if any) pay the standard tax rate on all profits they make in the UK

Really dont understand why people steal mobile phones,Once its been stolen,The Victim then reports it to there phone network company,Not only do the simcard gets blocked,Also the handset also gets blocked as well,If the criminals put another simcard in the stolen mobile,Also blocks of other simcards,So they no point in it really,Can't really do much with stolen mobile phones,Also use tracking to find out where the stolen mobile phones also gone as well
