MPs have humiliated the Government by voting to hold ministers in contempt of parliament - for the first time in history - for refusing to publish the Attorney General's full legal advice on Brexit.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
lso, an amendment has been passed that gives parliament a greater say on the future direction of Brexit, should the government be defeated on Tuesday. The pound is at a seventeen-month low on all of that news, and MPs have finally started their Brexit deal debate, which is due to go on for five day.

That Duncan Smith fellow it completely delusional. Listen to what he says at 35:02: _If the government loses that vote on Tuesday, they have to go back to the EU. And I believe the EU is already making preparations to make changes because they have to make changes. I don't believe the EU wants the UK to end up having to trouble a no deal and they don't want the chaos that would ensue and so I think there is a genuine desire one way or the other to make some way in which they can resolve this issue, and that's, I think, the issue._ The UK voted to leave. If there is chaos, it is the problem of the British people. The EU did not push the UK out but if the UK wants to leave, the EU is not going to bend over backwards just to accommodate the UK. Why should the EU have "a genuine desire" to "resolve this issue"? It is the UK's problem; the UK needs to resolve "this issue", not the EU.

Canada where I live is not poverty stricken, same for Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan, United States of America, Singapore, China, India I could go on but you get the idea. It is utterly bizarre how UK citizens have been so brainwashed into believing the EU is creator and master of their economy. The EU is protectionist and the UK is has been shackled by it. Yes there will be an adjustment period but people need to get their heads out of their asses and look beyond the day after brexit. The fear mongers have succeeded spectacularly in convincing half a country they are weak, useless and powerless without mother EU.

No, it's not about laziest, attitude or even politics, and not just a matter of 1-2 businesses but rather the simple reality of logistic. For example, say 10% of your doctors and nurse are from EU as a norm, you immediately lose that 10% and you can say just hire Brits because training takes time, and you don't have the right amount of qualify people to fit the roles. And even if you have, they may not live in the right region of the country. This will happen across every sector. Unless you are willing to drop the existing standard of qualification (which they are already talking about in terms of Doctors) you aren't going to cover the sudden shift, And this is just one aspect of the logistical problem. You are looking at a logistic crisis on a national level ahead. That JD Wetherspoon fellow is talking only in terms of what he sees immediately in relations likely to him, without applying it to any negative factors (a lot of which will only hit on march 29th with a crash out). I am not certain whether he is that myopic or he has personal profit stake on this mess. Remainers worst case expectation is not baseless, they are worst case scenario base on practical logistic gaps in the system the Brexiteers seem to completely ignore as a factor. Such as Trade deals are "easy" when such international agreement takes years and require economic leverage, which a lot of it will be gone the moment crash out happens. You cannot wish away logistic problems with belief or rhetoric.

I hear all the time that we rely upon foreigners to fill a wide range of work positions. Everything from strawberry pickers to Doctors and Scientist. Why can we not get British workers? The reason is British company's being unwilling to pay well enough to keep workers. The 3rd world workers have such a poor standard of living in their own country's that they naturally go to the country's that, to their standards, pay a decent wage. Most of them g home when they have made a killing sending most of their wages back to their own country. We work to live, not live to work! I am 71 and have worked all my life from the age of 13 as a paper boy before school to retirement at 65 and in that time never been out of work. A major cause of immigration is business not paying a decent wage; not just a living wage! It is not possible to have a decent standard of living on the governments so called living wage. I hear all the time CEO's saying they would love to employ British people but cannot get them. Have they tried paying a decent wage that people have a decent living on? The answer is no!

I have been doing some research on this and I can only say you are absolutely 100% right. In recent years, let's say last 10 years, the economy in the UK has grown, but the wages on average went down. The UK is the *only* country of the EU where wages went down while the economy grew. That's bad in itself, but the worst part is those wages went down severely. The gap between the poor and the rich are nowhere in the EU as big as in the UK. 9 out of the 10 poorest parts of western-EU are in the UK. The richest part of western-EU is London. The problem being the UK government giving all credits to the companies, bankers and multinationals to get richer at the expense of the working class and blaming that on the EU. In all surrounding countries of the EU wages of the working class more or less went with the economy of the country. It wouldn't be a big problem if it was only for 1 or 2 years, but it went on for at least a decade. Add to that the government is spending the least per capita to healthcare, the NHS, of all the surrounding countries. The UK is the *only* western EU country that scores average on healthcare, all the surrounding countries score good to excellent. You notice I have been researching healthcare as well and it is stunning. The NHS should be re-organised, either to the German model or the dutch model and much more money has to be put into it. To my calculations the NHS needs at least 1,000 million a week extra (52 billion a year) and the (very) rich should be excluded from it. I wouldn't recommend supporting UKIP or Brexit, but you are absolutely right in everything you wrote in your comment. My conclusion is the UK government has been selling out to the companies at the expense of the normal working class people. Brexit will only make things worse.

you're living in cloud cuckoo. When was the last time anyone had a decent wage rise in this country apart from those ceo's who pay themselves crazy bonuses. And foreigners who clean toilets, sweep streets etc, the poorest with no power or influence in this country; make a killing? No offence intended but you are 73 and things are quite different from when your experience was pertinent. There are simply not enough British people studying to be engineers, doctors, etc let alone willing to do the more difficult, manual work.
