If it's someone else's deployable shield, retrieving it will not detonate, and will return to Goyo, like how opening Castle's Armour panel with crowbar works. Though it has less boom and more fuel, having a sneaky Sledge or an EDD can detonate it like how it did conventionally.

Goyo plus Wamai is a really good combo. If an attacker throws a frag it redirects it to the canister and the attackers have pretty much delayed themselves. This new rework makes Goyo a much more dynamic and flexible operator and I’m loving this change.

Goyo is looking good. They did a good job of keeping the rework strong. I don’t think I’ll miss the shield, I can get that from someone else. I welcome this huge amount of versatility. There’s also now this nice triangle of area control between Tachanka, Goyo, and Smoke. Goyo’s not vulnerable using his and can hold areas longer than Smoke but has to place them well beforehand. Tachanka’s can be spread out more and has the longest duration but has a longer window of vulnerability to use it. With Smoke having a good balance in placability and vulnerability with more potent damage and has vision denial, paying for it with a low duration. Also, the two users vulnerable during their use of their gadget get the deployable shields. It’s pretty perfect.

Which they explain away as them using rubber bullets & the whole thing just being ‘training’ Since Y1S1, we’ve had car batteries electrifying MASSIVE metal reinforcement panels that these operators pull out of their pockets - & projectile needles that revive people from mortal wounds... The “realism” trope is played out, dude.

I think this is going to be strongest on maps with bombsites like armoury lockers on Border, where its common for attackers to plant extremely close to their entry point. Goyo can't be as dynamic with these as Smoke but anybody on the team can shoot these so you aren't reliant on Goyo to be alive/in the right place at the right time for these to be effective.

Does the canister stop lasers from activating when placed on the bottom of the doorway? Cause if so you could create a situation where when an attacker walks over the canister, you could detonate it activating the lasers and trapping the attacker in the room as well as spilling fire all over the room. Forcing the attacker to either retreat into a non fire-affected part of the room for maybe a nice wallbang or force them to run through the lasers and fire taking a nice chunk of hp away.

to add to this, macie jay had a pretty good strategy with his canisters on kafe where if you place them on the bar near default the canister will actually breach the wood of the bar and spew fire onto the other side on default plant, I thought that was pretty cool

Hear me out, Thorn plus Goyo, delayed explosion that will keep the enemy (who most likely ran into the room after hearing thorns gadget) in a specific area of the room cause the fire keeps them cornered (if the room is small enough they'll panic trying to get out)

Wait I thought the Wamai MAG-NET would always detonate after catching any projectile? No matter if it's an explosive or something like a stun. The MAG-NET would self combust right before the captured projectile detonates, destroying other nearby gadgets or nearby MAG-NETs and that's why you can't stack Wamai's gadget too close to each other. Wouldn't the self destruction still affect the Goyo canister's even if it's a flash or Trax?

Here is an idea for a unique interaction and a way for attack to have a counter for Goyo. Ace's breachers use water pressure to break through the surfaces. So why not use SELMA breachers to counter an ongoing fire? The SELMA charge when thrown into the fire on the floor, can explode and create a small rectangular area where the fire is extinguished. Use multiple SELMAs to create a corridor through the fire. Useful in last minutes of the round, when everyone remaining has low health, but facilitate attackers to somehow go through the fire with no/lesser damage.
