please post temperatures at the same benchmarks of different GPD WIN 4 models. Like stress the CPU of each device by the same benchmark and show temps at 28W TDP.

If I remember right we did do a quick check of the temperatures for the Win 4, but the video looked a bit confusing due to how the thermal camera has a kind of overlay of the thermal colours, when there was four devices in shot it looked really confusing. I will check the temperature's from the footage when back in the office on Monday and reply back here.

@@DroiX_Store Thermal camera can only show casing temperatures... What I'm essentially asking for is to show CPU temperatures at the same stress test of a different models of the same device. GPD WIN 4 of: 6400U, 7840U, 8840U, HX370

OK, I got what you mean. I will keep this in mind for future reviews if we can include it. Sometimes software has not caught up with processors and does not have support for the temperature sensors, fan speeds etc.

It is of my interest to have those results though: since cooling system in every model wasn't modified much, it is fair to be interested in how same cooling system would meet new CPU. TDP is not the only thing that can indicate if cooling is capable enough for the device.

I got the one from Indiegogo that shipped in 2023 before they installed the oculink port. I really don't know what I have and I haven't been able to use it for a while because the screen so small and I need a new glasses. Now that I have new glasses and my steam deck has developed stick drift. I find myself looking back to it. I struggled to see the small text when playing games, 2 years ago but I'm looking into getting a small monitor something I could set up on a tablet stand while I'm sitting in my La-Z-Boy. I think that'd be pretty cool. But I don't know what modern titles I could play with some of the nicer things like rate tracing. I got Hogwarts Legacy when it first came out but it's the one I really had trouble reading the text. I've got Forza 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, eventually those games aren't brand new, but I just don't know how to figure out the specs. I can't go asking my local Computer repair stores They're not even willing to fix the stick drift on my Steam deck If they don't sell it Or work on it They say they can't Help you. I really don't know if I'd buy this again The screen's just so small And I just turned 42 And so my Visions Changing apparently. And all of the modern Today date handhelds Are way cheaper and I don't know if that means less powerful I think it does Then the Then the latest win 4. I know those little things are powerful, I suppose I could be wrong about that too. I have back problems so I can't exactly set it a computer desk I have to sit in a recliner so I feel that it might be a bit much to have a small graphics card then the handheld then I need a controller and the screen I'd be better off getting a computer Tower at that point😂 in case you couldn't tell I'm overwhelmed. When the steam deck Oleg came out I jumped on it because it was just like an Xbox console, just plug and play.

I was hoping to see more 10 watt tdp performance metrics, with this battery size the 10 watt tdp is really the sweet spot on the go and other devices with this igpu do very well at lower tdp u should put more of a focus on that and less of a focus on full blast 28 watts which is less relevant on an on the go device like this

Tokyo extreme racer and path of exile 2. I just got the 2024 8840u win 4 cuz amazon had it for next day delivery and im a here and now kinda guy. Aside the chip the 2024 device is same as 2025 right? Also the most latest windows update bricked my win4 yesterday only had it 1 day. I tried for hours and couldnt get it to boot. I ended up installing bazzite and im up and running again. Aside from now having a useless fingerprint reader its a better device with bazzite. ​@@DroiX_Store

I wish they would've went with a oled at 90hz refresh rate like the steam deck oled i always been a fan of the psp/ps vita build I'm glad ayn had inspiration by making the odin 2 mini look like a modern ps vita i have the steam deck oled if valve releases a steam deck mini that would definitely sell

That's a decision only GPD know. We would have liked to have seen a white version as well. They do have a white model for the WIN MINI 2025 though.

I play many different handhelds, use different monitors and I am kind of used to differences in latency. The Win 4 series has had this small screen latency since the first 2022 model. Some people will notice it, and most people wont as they are used to various delays with their PC's for example.

I have the 8840u model. What stops me from using it is the 60 hz non refresh rate display. It needs to be at least 120 hz and similar to ROG screens for me to buy another one

@ I have it ordered the 2025 model. I have the 2024 model and it is great. Just wished I had the win 4 form factor with the same display as the win mini. Then it would be hard to beat in this space. Same request for the win max 2 display.

You can use 120Hz Xreal One AR glasses with your 60Hz Win 4. They use even less battery power than the built-in display.

why need a gpd win 5! this is the perfect form factor. only improvement needed is a retro version with the joysticks at the bottom. or do the aya neo thing where the buttons and joysticks are interchangeable

Yeah the AYANEO 3's modular controls are interesting. It will depend how much these modules cost whether or not it will be popular. We hope to get our hands on one after the Chinese New Year to review.

I got the 7640u model an its crazy that i haven't used it due to black screen issue i know its probably soft bricked how is gpd customer service if i wanted to bring my model in to be fixed?

If you purchased from GPD directly then you would need to go through them, they have a one year warranty. they are on Chinese New Year holiday at the moment so you may not get a reply for a while.

@@DroiX_Store I didn't get it from gpd I got it from eBay paying 800 just for the drivers not to be updated an it going completely black on me maybe it's soft bricked I got in June an haven't used it since I ended up getting a steam deck oled for the time period cause I wanted a windows handheld and a non one so I can have the best of both worlds an my birthday in June so it was a birthday gift to myself and my son being born i always been looking at the gpd win 4 just to finally have it in my hands an it not worked I'm still sad about it I even try reaching to the guy I brought it from an he wouldn't answer nothing i think dude was just trying to make a buck an I got finessed it's still in great condition tho

From our experience Intels are not great for gaming, the GPU are not great. We haven't any tried Lunar Lake processors yet though.

It’s certainly not. If you have any device with a 7,000 or 8,000 series chip & if you have 32 gigs of RAM everything is already going to run well even without fluid Motion frames 2.0 or Lossless scaling, which can boost performance even more, especially lossless, which performs crazy feats of performance with 32 gigs of RAM. The average price is $1,300 for any device featuring this excessive overpriced chip. Forget about it. frame gen tech is the future of pc gaming. Native performance doesn’t even matter as much as it did before anyway.

Technology such as FSR does make a big difference with older processors. I was using a mini PC over the weekend which had a Ryzen 7 6800H and was getting some great results with using it.

also these devices are not powerful for a pc only for a portable pc & they are stuck on integrated memory. Shared memory. So the difference in raw performance is significant, a gaming laptop vs this handheld. So now paying $1,400 for the portable seems nutty. They are pushing to try to get these handhelds to match other types of pcs anyway & even if they don’t get there it still means constant refinements & endless refreshes of the tech. In 6 months or a year there could easily be something better than what you just paid $1,400. & you didn’t need to do it anyway. lool. It’s like buying a new iPhone every year, the most expensive model, which probably costs around the same price. A discerning consumer skips generations.

I also saw 2 different GPD handhelds on eBay that had 7,000 or 8,000 series chips & 64 gigs of RAM for $800 or less. It’s crazy that I did not buy them, but 64 gigs of RAM & 4 tb SSDs for well under a $1,000 on the secondary market vs this at that price. Yeah, this a very poor investment.
