@mike78bassmanify2 жыл бұрын
@@1pac882 yes, I am very happy with it, for the price. I came from the GTX1070, and the RTX3060 is maybe 25-50% faster. Depending on the game. I chose the 3060 because of the 12gb vram, as I saw the 1070's 8gb being almost 100% utilised in some games. So only the 3060 gave me more than 8gb, other than 3080's and up. Didn't wanna pay that much for just a gpu. So the 3060 12gb gave me a nice bump in performance, and I got RT and DLSS. And yes, I did get the most overkill version of the 3060; MSI Gaming Z with 3 fans. But, price was ok, its huge and overclocks like crazy, cool and quiet. So, yes am very happy with it, both for gaming and Davinci Resolve. Seems well utilised, and does most of the work compared to the cpu. Got the 10600k, a 6 core 12 thread cpu like your Ryzen 3600.

BIG REQUEST. How about a “Price Point” workstation video? What I mean is maybe show a few good builds for creators/gamers within specific price points, $1,000, $1,500, $2,000 (what I’m hoping for) and up. I think this would be a popular video for newcomers. Excellent video for the non-professional creator. It's worth noting that the 3060 and 3060ti are in fact more different than their simple numbering suggests. The 3060 uses the 106 SKU whilst the 3060ti uses the faster 104 SKU which is the same as in the higher 3070 series, making it more like a downgraded 3070 rather than an upgraded 3060. This also allows the 3060ti to run at a faster memory bus speed (256 bit) whilst the 3060 is only (192-bit)... hence the reason why the 8GB 3060ti outperforms the 12GB 3060. Thanks Nvidia for making things so confusing! Update I've seen various comments that Davinci Resolve would run better on the 3060 because it it able to utilise more VRAM than the 3060ti. This of course is true, but only if the project needs that extra V-RAM. Also, in order to get the best out of Davinci, you need the full Studio version as the Free version has some behind the scenes limitations with how it limits the graphics acceleration. I assume that all the testing done here by Tech Notice is done using the Studio version and this would of course explain why it performs so well compared to PremierPro.

The most important number is VRAM/dollar. GPUs have become so powerful that performance does not matter too much. What matters is whether you can do certain things at all, be it CAD / computational physics models / video editing, and there you want as much VRAM as possible. Large memory capacity also makes a GPU future-proof, because model size will only increase over time.

How has this changed for photographers after the latest update to Lightroom 12.3 with AI Denoise? No one has tested it yet. From my small comparison of i7 9700K/32GB RAM/SSD drives with internal GPU only: AI Denoise takes about 12 minutes, exporting 100 edited images (42Mpx RAW) takes over 160 seconds, and AI masking (2 masks - subject and background) takes about 80 seconds. After adding just the "cheap" RTX 3060 12GB - Denoise takes 22 seconds, exporting 100 images takes less than 60 seconds and AI masking takes 47 seconds. It's a huge upgrade! But is the newer generation with say RTX 4070 much better, or is it just a slight difference? And how well are AMD cards doing with these AI tasks? The older generation GPUs (GTX) are much slower than the cheaper newer ones...

With a 6600XT being much cheaper than even a RTX 3050 it would be nice to see how well the cards compare in video editing Hell even a 6700XT is only about $100 more here. So my question is. If you're doing only like 1-5 projects a week is it still worth going with Nvidia? I watched your other videos on AMD, but benchmarks don't really tell the whole story. Yes Nvidia is much better, but scrubbing and exports or my 10400f and and gtx 1060 3GB have been not great, but not horrible either. Would AMD really be that bad? Saying something is like 5% or 30% better doesn't really matter if you can't notice it. I'd love to see a real world comparison of AMD vs Nvidia so we could have a definitive answer. For example like if we are only seeing a difference of 1 min in export times or there's no difference really in scrubbing and playback. Maybe AMD isn't so bad. Lol I just want to know because I really would like to get a 12700, but then I have to get a lower end Nvidia GPU where I could get a 6700XT with it. Or I can get a 12600 and then get like a 3060ti.

@@th-redattack That could be true, but it's still nice to visually see the difference. I probably searched badly, but I didn't find some real tests of NVIDIA and AMD in 3D packages on the Internet to see how cool CUDA and RTX are, as they say.

@@panAlexS Yep I haven't found any channels on this either. It's like use Nvidia because it's better, but how much better? Especially with all these detailed stuff on Nvidia cards it would just be nice to see how AMD cards fare. I don't have unlimited budget. So I usually have to wait a generation behind to get Nvidia cards while AMD cards are generally cheap.I saw a 6700XT for $280 and I'm kicking myself for not buying it now. Lol.

Different models also differ by their noise, which is relevant for creators.

True, but also not as much as you think. :)
@NoName-zf6nr2 жыл бұрын
@@theTechNotice There is enough variation so that I have considered for buying only 4 of the hundreds of RTX 3080 10GB models. Those with maximum noise smaller than 37 dB: MSI Suprim X, MSI Gaming X Trio (not Z Trio), Asus TUF (not OC), Noctua (but this is too expensive by far). Other 3080 models reach various maximum noise levels up to 43 dB, if not more - a great difference for subjectively experienced noise! For lower end cards, noise differences tend to be smaller (for 130W, every two fans card should do) but there are still some bad models with fewer fans than necessary for low noise. For highest end cards, differences can be larger. Not every noise pattern is the same. Some cards sound worse than other cards with the same noise level. Of course, this is partly subjective. E.g., Gigabyte Eagle also has comparatively low noise but I dislike its noise pattern. Not to mention prices, which let me wait for the next GPU generation.

I bought rtx 3060 12gb vram and not 3060ti 8vram, because the puget benchmarks have been better for premiere pro :-)
@kovafilms2 жыл бұрын
Same here. i also bought the 12gb version for not just 6k resolution but im positive the more vfx you and color grading that extra vram can help as well. From what i heard get a 3070 or 3060ti if you create and game. And if you are a pure creator get the 3060 12gb unless you have the budget for a 3080

I am not a "GPU guru" but as a professional photographer I can say that for photo issues you definitely don't need a super powerful and super expensive GPU. Until this year I worked on my old 2008 video card with only 2Gb of VRAM and the latest versions of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom (and even Adobe Premiere) worked just fine. May be slightly slower than they could but fine. I believe photo software rely much more on CPU and RAM rather than on video memory.

Very good video and really appreciate it. It really help me a lot BUT these are really expensive If I have to upgrade then it not only the GPU but my CPU, Motherboard and RAM as well else it will limit the potential of the GPU. Buses, Standard, hardware compliances really sucks! Nowadays if you change something, you probably have to change the whole system. Ok, enough complaining and really thanks for the guidance. I think I will stick with my system till it die.

What would be a good graphics card for video editing with an i4790 CPU? Don't hate me, I'm poor.
@SharmaMatic4 ай бұрын
Don't worry you can get Rtx 3050 in the used market for 150 or something but I will recommend you to go with 3060 even if your processor will bottleneck during gaming still it will increase your editing experience and in future you can upgrade to something like i3 10th which will be a good combo with 3060

You said if we’re only doing 4K video editing, we don’t need more than 8GB of VRAM. What if the 4K is 12 bit uncompressed RAW Cine DNG codec?
@theTechNotice2 жыл бұрын
Still fine, unless you're in davinci coz davinci uses VRAM more than RAM ;)
