As for the accent its not accurate but growing up with white ppl im used to a really offensive imitation sounding more like bunty gunty bunty gunty, so apu was a breath of fresh air. @@vikramdhillon6023 i know what the climate of PC was in the 90s. I'm 48. Political Correctness was around then, too but people made fun of it. If there is nothing wrong with Apu he shouldn't have to "evolve". As far as I'm concerned that's your admission that the character is out of step. Besides, cartoon archetypes don't evolve. Bugs Bunny, Homer and Fred Flintstone aren't made to evolove. Cartoon characters are either good and stay classics or bad and go away. Apu only stayed in the pop culture on the back of the Simpsons universe as a whole. And there is no need to campaign against Simpsons characters like Willy. Most people know that show is past its prime and usefulness and has nothing new to say. Nice that you got offended based on my one sentence comment, though.

It sounds weird but Apu was one of my first experience to Indian people, and it was a positive one. Everyone loves Apu. He is a hard worker, a friend to Homer, and extremely funny. I never looked down on him, i never thought "oh he just runs the Qwiky-Mart". I never thought he was stupid or anything negative. He was a real person. Sure he had his faults but everyone in the Simpsons did. I hope Hank does not retire Apu nor the Simpsons re-write Apu in any way.
@jessicarecklay17886 жыл бұрын
Exactly! And when people say ‘oh all his kids is stereotype that he has so many’ when there was a whole episode on how he and his wife want to have a family and how everyone banded together to create this big beautiful family. People just like to hate things nowadays

My cousin used to imitate Apu all the time when we were young and then I started doing it, which lead to my love of doing voices
@c-gcoconutgun25776 жыл бұрын
I don’t really think apu is offensive as a character but a white guy imitating an Indian accent is bound to set off some red flags. Also I’m pretty sure that the backlash has made him retire the role.
@FabiJenneke6 жыл бұрын
Solo the Dodongo So how about Bart being voiced by a woman? Where is the outrage for that? Or Mr.Burns obviously not voiced by an elderly person? Or Chief wiggum not voiced by an obese cop? Does the voice actor have to match the chracter 100%? Gender, race, nationality, age, fitness, religion? Where do you draw the line? Because then you should be outraged about pretty much all chracters.
@c-gcoconutgun25776 жыл бұрын
Jenneke All I’m saying is that a Caucasian man portraying a stereotypical Indian convenience store employee angered some people. Not me particularly, but some people.

When ppl are offended over an exaggerated number and opinion that is obviously not there opinion but.. y’all are like ‘must post comment stating how stupid someone’s opinion is..if I don’t comment I’ll explode’ lol.. you guys have way to much sadness and literalism in your life if you can’t laugh off the stupid stuff.
@SarahJadeLeann6 жыл бұрын
Wes 76 lol you’re ridiculous. You hate all ppl.. am I right? Because someone that spelt one word wrong? Do you just seek out things that annoy you or does that come easily? Come on.. move on.. you are part of the problem. You comment on people’s stupid comments without leaving any positive ones? Yeah. You’re transparent af just like a majority of our country.
@SarahJadeLeann6 жыл бұрын
quinnsane I apologize that I offended you, in no way was I speaking about you or downsizing your condition but in an INTERNET world, we don’t know each others lives.. so for some random person like Wes76 to talk down to me about my education fired me up a bit because I worked hard to get passed my conditions. So I apologize that a comment I made you feel a certain type of way. In trying to defend myself I offended someone else which was not my intention.

Working as a main cast member on The Simpsons is a real sweet gig. Since 2011, the six main cast members have earned $300,000 per episode. So with 220 episodes between September 2011 and May 2021, that's $66 million each over the last 10 seasons, or an average of $6.6 million per season.
