I met John Cusack back in the late 90s. He was at a NY Ranger game with sheryl Crow, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. I went right up to him and asked him to sign my ticket. I told him I loved him. He smiled, was very shy and signed my ticket. I kept the pen for years. I wanted to quote Say Anything, but I was shaking I was so nervous and couldn’t get any out.

I think he just did that 1 to pay the bills) But then I wasn't hugely into High Fidelity either But you're right, he is quite charming. In a quiet way. Eh, I’m not sure about High Fidelity. It’s hard for a lot of younger audiences to connect to it, honestly. Hyping you’re self up to talk to your partner, figuring things out. Buying records in person, actually having to talk to knowledge people to get solid recommendations. I personally am living in a country where record stores & movie rental places still are quite popular. But reaching out to friends & family in the west, hearing “ why didn’t he text her?” “ You can buy CDs at a store? Not just the library?” Broke my heart a bit.

No “Better off Dead?” And even weirder, no “Say Anything?” Lloyd Dobbler had one of the best quotes in movie history: “I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed.”

This is one of the best of these interviews I've seen. I always loved John - did not know how involved he'd been in several projects, though - let alone how informed and intelligent he is. Have to say, however - I ADORE Joan. Her performance in the second Addams Family film is one of my favourite comedic performances ever. :-)
