+Prorogon - Lord of the Jags At least from my point of view, it helps that he isn't "pushy" about his opinion...if that makes sense. So many reviewers out there seem to push their opinions as facts and basically go out of their way to insult and/or talk down to anyone who doesn't view things the same way as them. Arkada doesn't seem to really do that to me. He gives his opinion, explains his reasoning behind them so that others can understand (regardless if they agree or disagree), but doesn't do it in a way that jams it into the viewer's faces.

Actually inori didn't die. Remember the red wire that Shu can cut from inside people using that scissor void, that represents their soul, that's why they die but their body remains unharmed when Shu cuts the wire. At the end, Inori gives Shu a red wire, which is her soul, and he takes it, which means her soul is transferred into him. (Cuz her body's gone) You can see this at the end where Inori is seen with Shu when he closes his eyes and supposedly interacts with Inori's soul inside him, or something like that

I'll say now, I really enjoyed Guilty Crown, and in fact I hold it as one of my dearest ;) animes. It has an emotional impact on my first time watching it that few anime can offer, and it stuck with me for years. I'll address the elephant in the room and the most common complaint, the ending. While the ending was indeed rushed and Shu's live doesn't seem like one worth living, you have to embrace the meaning behind it aswell as the emotion to understand it. It's a life that Inori gave Shu when she gave him the Guilty Crown, so he could live on and not have to be the lonely king. TL;DR The ending has a deeper impact and I can learn to accept it when I view it differently. *cough Code Geass cough* And the music...oh....oh the music. Hiroyuki Sawano is a god that cannot be bested. I cri evertiem I listen to the OST.

тнe мad ĸιng ツ actually can you explain what you mean by Inori giving Shu the Guilty Crown...?
@mehmango35108 жыл бұрын
тнe мad ĸιng ツ And also, Inori didn't technically die. (Thank god this saved me so much heart ache) Her soul was transferred into Shu's body, represented when Shu took the red wire (which represents her soul) from Inori. The red wire also represents a person's soul when Shu uses that scissor void to cut the red wire inside someone, cutting their soul and killing them, but not harming the body. Also, at the end you can see Shu and Inori together in Shu's spiritual mind, or something like that.

Personally, I think the characters (Mainly Shu) have extremely realistic emotions. The thing is... Real emotion is way more underwhelming than the emotion of anime characters. Shu is a boy suffering from social anxiety, and they demonstrate this in a very realistic way. The only part of this video which i totally disagree with was when he said that Shu's character doesn't change much. Shu is almost a completely different person who believes in completely different things at the end of the anime.
@beniporag8 жыл бұрын
They do have realistic responses which I kinda like, but hate because of shu becoming a bigot in the second half. But yeah the realistic responses makes you feel more into the characters as a person not just a animation and this anime got me crying plenty of times so yeah that was kinda cool.

Just a spoiler for all those fans that were sad about the ending. Inori is alive, but without a body. When Inori gave the string to Shu he took Inori's soul into his own body, 2 souls in 1 body. Ending should have been explained better. But still, I'm sad that she's "physically" dead.
@mehmango35108 жыл бұрын
Half Bow actually there's still hope that she MAY be revived, because this IS the future and as we know Mana's soul was tranported into inori's body (which was her vessel, I know, but it's still a soul transport.). Not to mention Inori's soul transporting into Shu's body. So maybe they could transport Inori's soul into another "vessel". But hey, that's a job for the fanfics😂

He's really stereotypical, yet he does go through all the hardships much like a normal person would. He, if no one else, was quite relatable (ignoring the powers). I don't really know why but Guilty Crown is still my favourite anime. I watched stuff people like better like Code Geass, Death Note, Steins;Gate, and probably more you can name. Guilty Crown still is my favourite. I don't know why really. Maybe it just made me feel really sad, and was one of the first anime to do so. The about 23 anime I watched b4 guilty crown were mostly happy, and the ones that were sad were too short. Also the soundtrack in guilty crown is one of my favourites, probably another reason I like it so much. Like I see all the judgments against guilty crown, and for most anime I'd agree. But when it comes to Guilty Crown I feel this unnatural bias that makes me not care about any flaws people point out... maybe I just love Inori too much (ik a lot of people don't like her, but for some odd reason I really did).
@sevenyoun56718 жыл бұрын
yeah, describing the anime feelings to a person as "sad" or "happy" is just dumb. We're looking at the concept of the story and the romantic relationship, which the music and animations is the only considerable thing in the anime.
@you741sings8 жыл бұрын
seven youn I understand people are just being critical, and that's normal. To me though, I think I have this very weird bias for GC, and I'm not really sure why. Perhaps when I watched it I was feeling a way in that it would affect me more. Idk man. But I'm not making arguments that GC was good. I mean I could easily tell the writing was sloppy just by watching it. The reason I like it is a bit unknown to me, as well as why I like Inori. Eh I guess there are always things people like for no real reason. :/

But what pissed me off is that he was basically a Bitch who let everyone manipulate him into doing what was best, we never really got to see him think for himself. He flips out at her death, and then just accepts the plan made by others instead of actually thinking of a different way. It annoyed the hell out of me that even when he was the leader he was basically a stupid puppet whos only defining aspect was his interest and relationship with Inori.

I'll admit, this show is pretty significant to me in a number of conflicting ways, and I can largely understand a lot of the different view points of others who have watched it because of this. The first time I watched through this series, I hated it. Like, reeeally hated it. Watching it made me angry, largely because of the points that GR brings up here, about the characters constantly manipulating Shu and treating him like garbage. I hated all of them, and I hated Shu for letting it happen. Then watching it through a second and third time, it somehow managed to become one of my personal favourite anime of all time. A pretty drastic shift, I know, but it makes at least some sense. Since I already knew what was going on with all the characters, I started to look at the series my second time through in other areas, and that's where I saw its strengths. The art is beautiful, the directing is often phenomenal, and it has probably my favourite soundtrack in anything I've ever seen. That, and, I realised that the way the characters acted - vindictive and manipulating - the reason that was able to invoke such a strong emotional response in me the first time through is because those things are real. People aren't the ideal paragons of justice and companionship that so many other anime portray them as. Real people are indeed cruel and selfish, and will manipulate others to get their way. All too often, people DO only care about others only for what they can get out of them. Not everyone, obviously, but it's still just one more harsh reality of the world we live in. The individuals portrayed in this anime are not necessarily bad characters, they're just bad people. And that, ironically, is what I like about them. Of course, this is all just my own interpretation and opinion, and I know there are definitely far better anime out there than this one. Despite all of that, Guilty Crown just holds a special place in my mind.

Duskpixie I have to agree with you and I think you make a beautiful point
@killemwifkindness3 жыл бұрын
Same. I hated the characters and Shu when I first watched it, but recently after watching it again, I can sorta understand their motives and their actions. I guess I'm watching it with a mindset like watching Train to Busan, where people are just so afraid of dying but was so helpless with it. And yeah, Shu did said in an episode that these people who were manipulating him were just very scared. And he was too I think, 'cause alike his void, he take everything in, and he's just human either. He wanted to help them but he was helpless too and was afraid he couldn't do better. I'm sure there are flaws in these reasons behind their action(i.e overexaggerating), yet maybe that's how it is, maybe when in the most extreme situation, people are really just selfish and awful to do whatever to live. (Not gonna comment on the story plot haha, I know it's a mess, but everyone has their own pov, and from mine, I can accept it, so this anime has a special place in me)

Then the awful character motives; Suzaku is framed as the righteous one (in comparison to Lelouch at least) when in reality he is the worst character in the show, a traitor, coward, father killer, just an all round scumbag, I despised him. Lelouch was an angel in comparison to that awful human being. Giving a small section of an occupied nation to it's rightful owners who are foeced into ghettos is somehow framed as good and a foil to the "terrorists"... I could go on forever about the nonsense in this show... I guess I kinda have already. And the character designs are some of the ugliest I've ever seen, who in their right mind thought that they looked good?

I actually enjoyed this anime, but one of the main reasons I did was because it was relatively free from typical anime cliches. Yeah, there were some, like the dopey main character stumbling upon an unbelievable power, but this anime went into a dark direction that many others don't go. I disagree with you in that Shu doesn't change, because he clearly does. The traumatic experiences that he goes through put a huge burden on him, and yes, he is easily manipulated into becoming an asshole because of this, but that burden is his own. When he loses a specific person, he realizes then how much he was taking them for granted and it hurts him. At the end, you see him still burdened with this. It's pretty clear (at least it was to me) that he's never going to be the same that he was. He will always carry that pain with him.

The protag is the most boring wussy piece of shit character in anything I've seen before, his love interest is just another failed rei clone. The story makes absolutely zero sense, nothing is explained, the plot twists are worse than a shyamalan movie, and they just occur more and more as the series goes on. pardon my english but its like swordart online, the plot got a great start and then it just gets worst and worst, and because of the great parts like the settng and supercell's songs they keep getting your hopes up and then the actual shitty ass story contrasts from what you had in mind also the main character is unbareable, he's over the top fragile, inconsistent, stupid and unrelatable, he started as an average kid and then he turns into this shallow ass goody two shoe, then he get surprised that people gets killed in wars(what???) and losses his ways right after a girl tell him how she loves the way he is with her dying breath. near the end the main charcter got better???maybe? he still have moral problems? and its been years since i seen the show but i remember it ends with a scene of him in a wheelchair looking like a normal kid and i was sitting there thinking "kid you are not normal go see a therapist"

*Guilty Crown* is a cacophonous wreck of ill-conceived script writing decisions stacked on top of poorly realized ideas. It's a how-to manual on what not to do in a story that's glossed over by above average audiovisuals. It's a show that embodies "style over substance" in its most rudimentary form.

Harry Huy Nguyen believe it or not in my MAL account I said that in my tag description section, so not that far from the mark if you ask me. Shyamalan level is the best parallel to make to any movie power-player in the same way Tetsuro Araki can be compared to Michael Bay in terms of scale and animated bombardments.
@zeadsi9 жыл бұрын
Dewayne C "Style" only found impressive to those with inept understanding of animation on a broader sense. It's all slight of hand gimmicks and confetti to those keen to what to look for. Notice I said "above average" audiovisuals and not "good". It certainly tries more to be a grandiose spectacle in comparison to most shows made within the same time period (in no small part thanks to Araki's directing style) but at the same time it's just a step above the fundamentals expected from a well-oiled animated feature.

Harry Huy Nguyen GC is one of those shows I was close to dropping to be honest (which is rare since I've only officially dropped 6 anime out of 500+ anime titles so far). I can't understand how anyone that pays attention to the shows they watch can possibly think this show is even remotely good (let alone decent). It's just painfully bad from beginning to end and since you haven't finished it I'm warning you now that it gets worse (no I'm not kidding). In a way GC is an amalgamation of everything that can be wrong in a anime, so in that sense I guess it accomplishes the rare feat of being bad on every aspect imaginable.

Because the show has sorta added more via music videos. Like some of them have sorta viewed Mana and Inoris connection I guess? Idk I just like Inori and wish she developed more as a character because I'm a sucker for pinky heads.

You know re watching this 8 years later, their is a new prospective to the character aspect I want to bring up. I honestly felt the purpose of this story was to be one big lesson to Shu alone, about how his will won't be in his control when he listens or fights for others. Every character except Hare and glasses girl was legitimately awful and personifies what's going to happen to Shu if he keeps following them, especially since majority of them are kids with PTSD by the middle. From that prospective to me, even if the character development seemed to have been lost randomly, it wasn't done that way. These kids were not prepared at all for the second half, and a traumatic experience like that affects brain chemistry especially in developing children. It's a kind of a tragedy in a way, because if the 2nd half quarantine didn't happen they could have been very like able people (not just characters), but now they were stunted and changed for the worse. The characters are awful, but are meant as an overall lesson. Not excusing Shu though, he is genuinely awful with no redeeming qualities after hurting some of the actually nice people in the story

I don't agree that at least shu isn't relatable. He is a normal kid at first and he's shy and has self esteem issues like any other teenager and that really impacts his character after he is thrown into his situation. He is scared and doesn't know what to do and all of a sudden he has to become a leader and feels responsible for all of his friends and peers lives. Imagine what you would do in that situation. Probably try to please everyone as much as possible bc you're 17 and immature and have no fucking idea what you're doing. Then something terrible happens to someone you were close to and someone that helped you believe in yourself when God knows you really didn't and you get angry and scared and once again don't know what to do so you change everything and it was bad but he's human and 17 and immature, this show shows how human and imperfect shu is . Just my opinion

In episode 10 he leaves the Funeral Parlor, In episode 11 they are all like, OMG SHU WHY U SUCH A USELESS BITCH, ITS ALL YOUR FAULT THAT WE NEVER FIGURED OUT HOW TO DO THINGS WITHOUT YOU. You see I went into it expecting to hate it, and I didn't. Its not good..I don't think, but its not bad. The plot is obviously less than half baked and the first half is marred by fanservice and other bullshit. But it did manage to have some genuinely effective and shocking moments(Yahiro's story, the whole president Shu arc, Inori's farewell etc.) Part of it might be that its phenomenally well directed, the music kicks ass and the dub is really good. The actual substance beneath isn't anything special and we've seen it before, but its dressed up in just the right way to where it does manage to be somewhat effective. Overall i'd say its a 7/10, I probably wouldn't rewatch it, but its really not that bad, its at worst mediocre. There are MUCH worse shows of this kind you could watch.

I like your perspective but, I have to say this is on my top 10 list because of the type of character shu is. I like to see a character who is not the superhero that knows everything and a relationship that is built around the alignment of fate.

You know, while on 2:40, during you're intro, Lelouch was the first thing that popped into my mind, and I was waiting for you mention the Knightmares and such. Then you snapped me back when you showed Shou. I forgot I was watching a Guilty Crown review, not Code Geasse.

Shu is relatable IMO, he's one of those guys who take everything upon themselves and really don't fit into society because of it. But anyways, great music, is the main pulling factor in the anime. Its story and characters are similar to that or the original gurren laggan but with a less outrageous plot and a more simple power scheme. Even the endings were almost identical. The romance at times felt real but for the most part really doesn't make sense. I guess with enough time and honesty people grow towards each other. I watched it thinking it'd be a great anime, but it feels likes its been done before, again, with the example of gurren laggan. The characters were interesting I'll give it that. Gai, Shu, iniori, even some side characters were well developed and had their own set of ideals. Its not bad what's been done with the series as a whole, considering how short it was. not bad at all, I didn't hate it, I kind of enjoyed some parts since they did feel real. I rate it a 6 or 7 out of 10.

My biggest problem with it was the tyrant episode and how all oh shus friends were so eager to leave him for dead. It ruined all those characters for me, and then the one character that actually stayed with shu fucking died. She was legit like the only character I actually liked after the tyrant episode. Still a good show I just wish his friends showed at least a little more remorse
@incelmagnet17374 жыл бұрын
Especially that they were the ones that fucked him up in the first place and all.

HOLY SHIT!!! A review of Guilty Crown that seems unbiased, well balanced, and not absolutely love it or hate it. I've been trying to get thoughts from my friends about this show because I watched it and virtually every single thought I had with this show was "Is it just me or..." So, Arkada... THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, I can only give this video one like.

Wait so guilty crown = Sao is basically just pretty, sounds nice, and failed potential.
@shubhod95698 жыл бұрын
+Kain Liason at least sao made sense. Guilty Crown just pulled plot twist after plot twist out of its ass on top a clusterf*ck of a story.
@kain17998 жыл бұрын
I'd rather ass pull plot twists than dozens of time jumps and an invincible main character with 0 personality.

+Kain Liason idk I prefer sao's plot
@kain17998 жыл бұрын
shubhankar das if you can call it a plot I know it has one but the plot for part one: Were all gonna die so we better win, oh wait we are the strongest characters in game let's just do bad harem comedy and have him choose best grill. Then they adopted a strange entity oh wait it's gone but with lord kirito's powers they saved her. Then lol back on the front lines to hey that was weird you're the bad guy right. Then fine I'll kill you right her to giant plot armor somehow doesn't die and in the end. Lol why did I create a serial murder game? Part 2: I need to save Asuna. Also cousin is in love with kirito. I would do more for season two or guilty crown but I haven't finished those yet.

Your final verdict is spot on! Beautiful animation and soundtrack! Wish they didn’t turn all the characters into selfish, mean characters. You couldn’t really root for anyone.. the second half of the story could’ve done a lot better. A lot of potential wasted :/ BUT I would still watch it for the audio and visuals. I can rewatch the ending of episode 4 over and over!

Please don't ever compare Shu to Simon. That's just disrespectful to Gurren Lagann. Nice review btw.
@KylonLoL7 жыл бұрын
I just saw this series, I agreed with what he said completely....but still enjoyed watching the show. It would be great if they could do a remake at some point in time and take their time with the story so there aren't so many plot holes. But we all know that won't happen, even with the void concept being pretty cool.
