You made every point right except for only one, and it's also one of my favorites besides the soundtrack: The Lore; this anime's lore is DEEP and thought provoking, specially the attention to the diverse flora and fauna inside the abyss and the relations between living organisms that need to adapt and cooperate in order to survive. Its like NatGeo meets anime and that is soooo cool to me, i love nature. Add to that the mysterious physic-bending artifacts that fill the abyss and the ancient civilization that sets the background.

@Kinben696 жыл бұрын
I feel like if they rushed the pacing in episodes 4-9 it would``ve been a mess because this is more about exploration, I actually liked the pacing and the episodes because they are more informative and it gives space for the dramatic episodes like episode 10 to go full feels, i feel this isn`t a show in which to combine information and action in an episode

The reason it's so tragic is that you know from the beginning of the descent that it's a suicide mission. Typically in a story using the hero's journey archetype you go through the hardships, learn something and then return with growth and knowledge. This sets itself up as a hero's journey in flavor and theme but removes all possibility of that last important resolution. She's never coming back, no matter what. She will either die or find something down there. But she is never returning either way.

And I will probably cry again when I show the anime to my sister.

Not exactly a second season. They confirmed a continuation. People say the material of the manga yet finished would be ideal for a movie as it's one rather long arc, so MiA movie could be possible. Though they could sill do something like what was done with Fullmetalalchemist where the studio continued their own story when they reached the point the manga covered.
@twisterboy669tv6 жыл бұрын

I guess it is different for everyone. For me after episode 1, I was impressed but not really hooked on the series yet. After episode 2 however, I got really into it, I really wanted to know what is in the Abyss, the mysteries, the curse and the people that dive in it. It such a weird feeling but the sense of adventure is very similar to playing Breath of the Wild or Xenoblade Chronicles. It such a breath of fresh air (pun intended) for adventure/fantasy series that we have been longing and isekai doesn't cut it. I mean I enjoy Isekai trash sometimes but Made in Abyss and Mahoutsukai no Yome really brought back the golden age of fantasy anime.

Wow that's a rough rating dude but that is your own opinion and I can't prove it wrong. I did find it strange that they introduce the two boys and then she leaves without them. On the other hand it is sort of heartwarming when they receive the occasional balloon letter. It's like receiving mail from a soldier stuck in the middle of a war. The boys are on the uneventful homeland while she's traversing in the dangerous fields full of enemies. If she didn't have any emotional connection to them then the cuts back to top earth wouldn't feel... anything at all really.

This was a great video, and was a highlight to why I love your channel. The way you really sell it in the beginning, sounding more like you're reading the synopsis of a grand story, rather than just offering us a review. The way you really put the characters to light without spoiling too much to leave those who haven't viewed it, a desire to do so. And finally, the way you covered more than just the anime, but also the music, the studio, the people behind it, and even comparing to other animes. This my friend is why I like your channel. It's more than a review. It's "An experience before the experience" really getting me hyped to watch. Now, I already have watched this, and amusingly enough I even plan to run a D&D/Pathfinder campaign based off this series, so I can safely say you have done this anime some true justice with this video. As a matter of fact, anyone who I know who hasn't seen this among friends, I will now recommend them to this video first before watching it, since you've put this all so well into words and really sold it in a matter of 10 entertaining minutes. Quite frankly, I've been watching anime for over 20 years now, every season, every release, every movie that comes out. The only conditions for me to complete the series is that you have to catch my attention in the first 5 episodes. My ultimate point is... Made in Abyss starts slow... but god, don't let that be a deterrent. This series is in a class of it's own. Consider that the movie just came out recently and even further pushed the to new heights... yeah, I agree with this video. Watch it. There is some foreshadowing that was directed at Riko in S1, and in the movie, it is confirmed. Darkness is all consuming.

It's the massive amount of "deep" depression that makes the "high" moments feel so warm and amazing. I filled a bucket of tears for the first 12 episodes, but that final 13th episode, I was dehydrated for weeks. The world building alone in MiA deserves a Masterpiece award, even if the curse is still very confusing.

Just started watching anime about a month ago and this was one of the first shows I binged. Probably one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Did you see that the short version of Mad in Abyss is (MiA = quite cunning if inteded)

It's about time! Made in Abyss was definitely the highlight of an already incredible year in anime. It has stolen the #1 spot on my list of favorite shows with ease! And great suggestion for Girls Last Tour, which was also one of my favorite new shows. It has the comfy, dark adventure of Made in Abyss, but without the despair. Both excellent shows, and easily shows that I recommend that everyone gives a chance! Now you just need to get around to watching and reviewing 3-gatsu no Lion.

Bondrewd is one of my favourite characters tbh. I love when villains have a scientific motivation, makes it feel like they actually believe in what they're doing.

Ruisu oh boy I don’t recommend watching season 2 when it releases that will make depressed more than what happen to Mitty... trust me I can’t still get over for that specific cute character (Bondrew fault) ugh if only she could’ve gone with Riko and reg and nanachi...

This anime didn’t just leave a impression on me, this was an anime that left a permanent mental scar that rivals all of my other personal favorites. This is a anime on the same level as the greats, and I can’t wait to see how far the story goes.

I feel like most of people push the gas pedal (And not without reason) on how much horrifying and scary the Abyss is, forgetting that it's also, in a good amount of its parts and in different ways, magnificent and unsettingly beautiful. Of course it's super dangerous, has a curse, harsh rules and vicious fauna, but that could be said for nowadays Amazon Forest, and even way more for the same place in a XVI century conquistador's point of view (when there wasn't even knowledge of the habitat). The people in MiA's world see the Abyss in the same way we accept that the Amazon Forest (and similar extreme places) is equally beautiful and scary. I wanted to point this out because I feel it's a little help to understand that longing the people of Orth has, that may seem incredibly crazy, but in terms of feeling is very realistic, and existed and keeps existing in the real world too. After all, it's not very different for people who dives in the Cenotes or goes to Poles or braves say the Nanga Parbat, maybe sometimes even without oxygen's help. (I still believe in the Abyss's case, there is something else too, some ineffable malignant magnetic force... but I think believing that's all the cause of the chasm's emotional gravitational field is a big misunderstanding of the series, its world and its themes.

Totally agree. While the stuff happening to our main cast is dark, the overall setting and interactions are beautiful/happy. I really had a good time watching it and i love to immerse myself into this interesting world.
