Sorry that my commentary is in Swedish if you don't speak it. But here's a sort of summary:
It's wet and quite slippery, the winter tires are optimised for ice and lots of snow so they are completely out of their depth here. But I got the option to try the car's balance and took it anyway 😊 With proper tires the car will surely not understeer as it did today.
The main question I had for the day was will the car happily rotate into the corner or will it be more boringly on rails. And the answer is that with some trailbraking it is very eager to rotate. Very nice! With today's tires and greasy track it tended to understeer at turn-in without trail braking. And also, as you can see, when in the very long open right hander it understeered under steady state and slight acceleration.
This will probably not be a problem with proper tires, but we will see. Maybe some more camber, less toe-in or possibly rake needs to be slightly adjusted.
Out of the corners you have a lovely fun power oversteer. And you can easily choose how much you want by using Sport mode and your choice of ESP on, half off or fully off. And in Track mode the oversteer is reduced and replaced by a cracy efficient drive out of the corners. No understeer, it just goes!

Half is real and half is fake through the speakers. Still very good, they did a good job on the fake part. But I tested turning the fake sounds of today, and I'll keep it off. Info gr-yaris.co.uk/forum/threads/coding-carista-app.222/

I'm so happy to see someone with the GR Yaris in Sweden :) I didn't know there was a track in Arlanda, do they have track days in summer time?

what about the bliking indicators when you hard breaking/or breaking. There is any option to switch that annoying fuction off?

Looks amazing fun! Some mid corner understeer in those conditions is obvious but you were pushing a lot!! Pilot PS4? And power oversteer out of corners seems lovely controlled Sadly in Italy this car cost a lot (40k) so I'm going to settle for a fiesta st mk8

Winter tires optimized for ice and lots of snow. But I got the possibility to test the balance and took it even though the tires were way way wrong for some track use. It was still fun and interesting 😁

I had a Fiesta ST mk7 a few years ago, it is FUN!!! My guess is the Fiesta mk8 is more playful on the road then the GRY. The Yaris is playful too but a bit more focused IMHO.

@@rejsa-nu thanks. Here in Italy we get snow on the roads only 1 month every year so 4wd is not mandatory. I will get the st but also wait for the i20n, looks promising The GrY will remain a dream for now ahah

@@freshjuice9801 It's Continental Viking 7, non studded winter tires for lots of ice and snow here in Sweden :-) A friend recommended them.

Great test! It appears Toyota is learning much about chassis electronics only recently. The half-off mode you show at 70% rear looks wonderful and seems another step above the corresponding mode in my current GT86, which itself is vastly superior to the previous generation. Can you recall how it was intervening when you provoked it exiting corners?

It is very subtle 👍 With all systems on the tail just doesn't kick out and you do feel it is a bit held back. But you still have great acceleration thanks to the 4wd. Half off is impressive in balance between letting you go sideways but still limiting the crazyniess. I haven't done any really stupid provocations so what and how it'll interfere then I dont know though.

Kul att se bilen, blev ju jäkligt läcker i orange, ska bli spännande att se den prestera på bana i sommar med ps4s däck. Många som har slagit till på en GR, men jag behåller min Type R ett tag till även om jag gillar GR.en riktigt mycket.

Hi, so what is your verdict? No subtitles possible on this video somehow. I am not sure if i should put a deposit and finance it for 4 years, if this is worth it. I would have it as my second fun car and would sell my motorcycle (KTM 790 Duke) for it, since i am more comfortable driving fast in a car in general.

I sold my tuned M2 and got this. This will be super fun on track, autocross and as a daily. Obviously the M2 is a faster car. And "more" of a car. But I love small agile cars. Okay, the GR is a bit over hyped at this very moment but if you are looking for a sub-Golf sized hot hatch it is a fantastic choice. A Fiesta ST will be more playful at really low speeds around roundabouts. The GR will handle better and will need more speed to unstick. But the GR Yaris is still playful at far lower speeds than a Golf R, or not to mention the M2 that is hard to drive at 10/10 anywhere but on track.

@@rejsa-nu Nice to see someone coming from am M2. Also thought of switching from my heavily tuned M140i to a M2 Comp or a Yaris. Some would call me crazy to cross shop these, but the Yaris seems just so much fun and involving. Remembers me of my gone Clio 200 kust with more punch and additional grip and drift fun. :-)

On track definitely 50/50 and all off. For fooling around and not bothering getting around the track fast, 70/30 and all off. Or 70/30 and half off if I want to feel a little safer testing more stupid moves :-D

Do you feel there is any point in the normal front bias mode?..if not software to change normal to 50/50, track to 70/30 and sport to 90/10 (or drift mode) 😉.... I’m having my final test drive Thursday and still can’t decide pearl white or scarlet red? Nice colour wrap

De första 1000km så ska man ta det lite lugnt enligt manualen. Och inte ligga länge på samma varvtal. Men jag har passerat 2000km 😁

In i kurvorna funkade vanlig trail brake kanon. Men som den låååånga flacka högern kunde det definitivt vara nåt att prova. Men lite camber kanske hjälper och justera toe också kanske. Blir jätteintressant att se hur det lirar med bättre lämpade däck 👍

Nu kanske(?) vi menar samma sak. Men det jag avser är alltså blixtsnabba jabbar med vänsterfoten samtidigt som högerfoten ger gaspådrag. Rallyteknik vid felhjulsdrift typ. 🤓

Det kommer säkerligen funka men jag har inte erfarenheten för att sätta rallyvarianten. I slalom krävs ibland justeringar med extremt korta duttar på bromsen för att få till spåret mellan konerna, det är ju en liknande grej. Men den har ju handbroms också om man vill go crazy 😁😁😁

I would say USA is the biggest dick in automotive history. For them self. No Yaris no Hilux. So Toyota just skipped USA stupid test and did the norm for rest of the world. So it could sell everywhere but north America.
