So happy with the choice to stick with DI. All the low speed drivability really makes a difference. Super keen to see a GRY with ~400bhp (crank). Will be a ridiculous little weapon then!

@woznaldo

@@laundrieshanging9077 The standard car makes 200kW crank, or as you say about 270hp crank. So yeah, I’m asking for an extra 130hp crank or 93kW. Not huge but it will make a huge difference on such a light car with the traction to use it! I’m guessing that will be within the capacity of the drivetrain?
@Desideratus21
@Desideratus21 3 жыл бұрын
@@laundrieshanging9077 spot on mate! 210kw = 282hp ( multiply HP by 0.7457 to get KW ) But considering this is a brand new car and front engined and they are testing in only front wheel drive the drivetrain loss factor should be roughly around 12% So keeping that in mind the engine would be roughly 321bhp now if making 210fwkw.
@Zesserie
@Zesserie 3 жыл бұрын
@@Desideratus21 And about 325hp crank is where the stock turbo falls off, so i'd say it's inline with what you can expect out of it, personally it's a good region to be in. You still have the responsiveness of the stock turbo with a little bit more punch than stock. E85 helps with keeping the turbo happy running a bit less boost :)

It is interesting! That's a very low margin, especially by Toyota standards. I have seen people breaking the engines with over-revs on downshifts already, almost definitely caused by the springs, and at much lower rpms than you might expect. Awesome that kelford has a solution already.
@AmirPomen

because modern engine have been pushed towards efficiency... then use barely enough spring rate/preload, then there is rocker arm as opposed to direct acting shim-bucket type of valve operation...and probably hydraulic lifter in the mix as well for nvh of the engine... unlike older engine gen where simple stuff makes them reliable..also not bound to so many rules and restriction like nowadays... *edit: addition: i bet the piston ring used also have quite low tension type of ring (waiting for oil consumption and oil dilution issue on long run)

port inj. on d4s is used most likely at low-mid rpm usage to sort out particles. :) btw this relatively low cyl pressure float is nasty, we are quite far from AGEs :/ perhaps Toyotas last performance orientated engine and its quite obvious that its weaker than 2zz. :/
@Sci-flyer

not really. The ZZs made all their performance from high rpm so needed to work in the 7000+ range. Turbo engines don’t need to be constantly right at the redline for performance so overly-stiff valve springs weren’t necessary. This does not mean the engine is somehow weaker.

Andrew, I believe this has been raised before, but you haven't addressed it thus far. Your microphone audio sounds incredibly thin, as iff it's cutting all mid-low range frequencies resulting in a "over the phone" sounding voice. It's really unnatural, distracting and degrades your normally excellent production quality overall. It's very easy to correct in post...

@@MotiveVideo surely there's a fix in post? It just requires a mid and low frequency bump. Your voice-over recordings sound perfect, probably because you're recording that through a different mic on desk. Maybe it doesn't make a big difference to users watching on a phone, but I watch youtube on my tv with a decent sound system and the switch from voiceover sound to lapel recorded voice is a shock. you need to go to a Vf series turbo with a G25 inconel shaft, they can be found on ebay for 500 usd and 128 usd respectively. increases to over 20 psi, then drop in a HKS VF actuator and get .8 more bar. your welcome. i did the research running a similar setup but im not telling which series because its Top Secret. ¬ >is yaris expert and responsible for this entire thing coming about :>
