For the people complaining about the "face grabbing", its mimicking a natural canine behavior called "mouthing". Mouthing (in which a dog/wolf/fox/coyote/dingo/et cetera grabs the muzzle of a packmate with their own mouth) is an bonding behavior/affection display comparable to a hug between humans. For obvious reasons, four-legged animals lack the ability to hug, so the next best thing is the use of the mouth and jaws. Mouthing is uncommonly seen among dogs due to humans in general breeding and training dogs to not do it, but it is a very common and strong instinct in wolves, wolf-dogs, foxes, and other wild canines.

It conveys many things. Yes, it is a hug when done as a hug, but it can also project discipline. It's just the amount of pressure they use. Domestic dogs almost always submit or go to play mode when a human they know does this. We have no sharps in our grip, so it is often seen as a prelude to affection. I think it's pretty clear that dogs enjoy the human touch, much like other animals once they are accustomed to it.
@ardenharan22016 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's both affectionate/playful and mild dominance behaviour. That he invites you to grasp his face his both a gesture of trust and of submissiveness. He's signaling that he still accepts your superior standing in the pack and that he's okay with his place. It's mutually reassuring.
@Abba-dabba-doo6 ай бұрын
That's SO cute! I've always done this with one of my mutts. She'll wrap her mouth around my hand and just sit there holding it and lightly gnawing on it while we snuggle. She doesn't do it with most people. It seems like a very affectionate and trusting gesture.

The thing I love the most about Harvey and Kane's dynamic is that Harvey gives off some serious "older brother who is not taking the play fighting seriously, but if he did, he'd absolutely wreck his younger sibling" energy and Kane gives off equally strong "I pretend to be the strong stoic type who doesn't like anything ever, but inside I am soft as a marshmallow and crave all the affection all the time"energy.
