God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. Praise the Lord for His mercy on us and may we all humbly say, “oops,” repent, and mend our way as he draws us closer to himself.

@@loverslanenyc While we see in Scripture that Paul went into the synagogues, it does not say that he worshipped there. It says that he went there to reason with them. Why do that on the seventh day in that place? Because that is when and where the people were for Paul to meet and try to evangelize. To say that Paul continued to worship on the seventh day, or that he did not, from the Scriptures are arguments from silence. However, Acts 20:17 makes it clear that Paul preached on the first day. Paul’s mission to men included Jew and Gentile, and he met with them when and where they were. Do you follow all of the commandments given to Israel that are a lasting ordinance? Are the sons of Aaron eating the sacrifice made on the altar? Are you celebrating all of the festivals, such as Passover, which were commanded to be observed forever, even though Paul rebukes this in Galatians 4:10-11 and Colossians 2:16-17? Did not God say He will put an end to such things long before Paul? (Hosea 2:11) Jesus did not come to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it. The shadows were of the things to come. Now that Christ came, the former things are fulfilled in Him, and we follow the New Covenant in His blood, which does not annul the former commandments but are forever executed on our behalf by Him. He is the Lamb of sacrifice. He is our Sabbath. He sits on the highest throne exalted above all. We follow His commandment, kneel at His feet, and worship as He permits. I do not consider Easter or Christmas as holidays of the church. Every day is the time to remember that God sent His Son to die for our sins and that Jesus lives in glory and power.

The story I'd been told some years ago was that during Armstrong's lifetime, that church has basically followed him as their source for truth, but when he died, they didn't really know what to believe since he wasn't around to tell them, so they had to figure out what to believe about the Bible for themselves--and they ended up consulting some more-or-less mainstream Christian theologians to teach them. (I didn't hear this story from them, but from someone who says--credibly, to me--that he knew some of the theologians who were consulted. He also said that at least some of those theologians--if not all of them--were Lutheran, which would explain some things such as the change of position on infant baptism.)

I was 6 or 7 when my mom started taking my sister, brother and me to WCG. It was the Mid seventies and as a young child I mostly remember all the End time preaching. As a kid I would have nightmares and always worry about my family. Sometime in the late 80s my mom stopped taking us there without any real explanation, but I still always felt like I had to be a member so that I could avoid damnation! I didn't feel like there was any other way. I got involved with drugs and alcohol during this time and never felt like it mattered. In my late 20s my mom began attending again, it was one of the off shots of WCG. One weekend while home from college I went with her and I remember being pleasantly surprised of the different tone at this newer version. After graduating college I found the church for my location and I began attending once again from 1998 to 2002. It was a good church with a great pastor who helped us during this transition. He told us we had some things right, but we also had a lot wrong and it was his attitude regarding this that made me appreciate the new direction. I eventually quit attending again and moved to another state so it was kind of like ripping off a band-aid and for about 10 years I didn't attend any church but kept my relationship with God just one to one and He healed me during that time. Lots of pain and darkness, and at the end he put me with a wife, a child and a new church that I needed. In 2013 I joined the Methodist church and I felt peace.

@loverslanenyc I'm guessing you don't understand what I'm talking about. The Hebrew Israelites are a cult group that teach that African Americans are the true Israel and that salvation is only available to black people. How am I racist for pointing that out? It's simply what they teach. I don't know what your statements about the 7th day Sabbath has to do with what I was saying. Maybe you should educate yourself on the Hebrew Israelites instead of trying to "educate" someone that you clearly don't understand.

You definetly provide the best source of most unbiased and compressed information on christian denominations that i know of! Great job! I was in touch with the worldwide Church of God 30 years ago when Herbert W. Armstrong was still leading the Church. I also remember the change when he died to Mr. Tkach. I wasn't aware that they had undergone such radical change! But i think its better to admit to own mistakes - once you recognize them - than deniying the obvious mistakes. I raised in a SDA family and they have some weird teachings about 1844 and changed their mind but still sticking on that date. They once thought that Jesus would come back to earth 1844 (first in spring, later in autumn) and than 'found' that Jesus entered the Holy of holies in the heavenly sanctuary doing a special service for us. So nobody can check on that, obviously ;-). They have some problems admitting their historical mistakes.

@@loverslanenyc you are a SDA follower, I take it, by your sectarian rhetoric attempting to delegitimate orthodoxy. Sunday is NOT the Sabbath. It’s the Resurrection, which is the primary day of the worship of God in Trinity. Sabbath is still Sabbath (witness Catholic and Orthodox countries’ name for it) and observed as sabbath, but the book of Acts makes it abundantly clear that gentiles don’t have to keep the Mosaic law to follow Christ, because that law is for Jews alone. After a few centuries of Jewish Christians maintaining it in a christianizing world, they eventually gave up on it. If you knew much history you’d soon give up on your heresy.

It says something about the cultishness of people in organizations that people stick with them when they clearly have no idea what they are talking about. I find this incredibly interesting when it is an organization that believes the end times will come on a certain day, and that day comes and goes, but people stick with them. I find this interesting with the Millerites, the Jehovah's witnesses, and other groups.

Many of the splinter / fringe churches are personality-driven. There's a scandal and the preacher leaves - and the church falls apart. It begs the question: were you there to be charmed by the eloquent preacher, or were you there to learn and worship? Will you leave your congregation if you don't like the preacher? I've seen that happen time and time again in both mainstream and fringe churches. When you get into family (a son) taking over the "family business" , that's distressing, too... 🥀

His faith and understainding of God, the Bible will need major overhaul. Mine needed to be rebuilt from the ground up. My sincere prayer was 1/ be lead to truth and only truth, 2/ be lead to righteous teachers who speak no lies 3/ give me the discernment to separate the gold from the garbage. That was my prayer with a sincere heart and the Holy Spirit responded. First a roadblock needed removing before even starting. So once the KJV-only propaganda was wiped away, the Bible started opening up. From there I just followed where the Holy Spirit took me. I didn't interfere by making my own decisions on reading or listening to someone other than I was lead to. The process can only be described as Absolute Perfection. So if omniscience God the Holy Spirit doesn't know the day or hour and omniscience God the Son doesn't know the day or hour, then only omniscience God the Father is God who is the Holy Spirit as revealed in Matthew 1:18 and 20. Mary was made pregnant by the Holy Spirit and fathered Jesus making him God the Father. That is why there is no mention of the omniscience Holy Spirit not knowing the day or hour. Gospel of John? If God the Father is the vine keeper and Jesus is the vine and we are the branches in the vine, then Jesus is the Son of God not God the Son. Simple. Why no mention about the Holy Spirit being the vine keeper, co equal? Really? You people are decieved. 😎❤👍😍

I think what you are doing is called an argument from silence. "If X is true, why doesn't Y say X explicitly?" This isn't logically valid, as a combination of verses could lead you to believe that something is true when put together, a process you just attempted in your other half of the argument.

@@Joker22593 You comment makes no sense. If only God the Father knows the day and hour, omniscience God the Holy Spirit is a figment of your imagination. Martha told Jesus about Lazarus being dead, if he asked God to raise him from the dead, God the Father will raise Lazarus. Jesus said it is not me that doeth the works, my God the Father in me doeth the works. Well brainiac? Is the Holy Spirit in Jesus? Yes. Matthew 1:18and and 20, explain how the Holy Spirit made Mary pregnant and fathered Jesus but contradictory God the Father is the Father of Jesus. Dude if I was full of BS like you, I would liken myself to a caveman committed to a mental institution as a moron and given a lobotomy. Your handle is right, your a joke. Peace out non-pacifist decieved devil child. ❤😎👍😍

It never says God the Son. Jesus doesnt know the hour, because he is not GOD. GOD knows, Jesus doesnt. These things were written to show that.

@@astutik8909 Good you understand their is only one God the Father the Holy Spirit, period. Oneness Pentecostal is wrong, the say Father and Son and Holy Spirit are one person. It is not possible for a Father having a Son to be one person, they are to distinct persons, period.
