I think the Michael and Polly scene has got to do with Michael not wanting his mother to think of him as fragile/can't take a beating that he needs his mother to save him. Something about Michael getting revealed in later season possibly has got to do with his reaction too
@rTobyy11 күн бұрын
I always just assumed that as the viewer we have the knowledge that what happened between Inspector Campbell and Polly was forced upon her whereas the screws in the prison probably just vaguely told Michael that Polly had slept with Campbell in order to get him freed. In my mind, his reaction was probably a mix of shame and like you said, disappointment she’d go to that extent to protect/baby him.
@ameliacraiig419310 күн бұрын
@@rTobyy Yes, this^^^. I can just imagine how Campbell worded it; more so that Polly instigated their sexual transaction, than him sexually humiliating & assaulting her. He probably knows deep down that what he did was monstrous & the officers wouldn't be on side if he relayed *_exactly_* what he did. In truth, that vile encounter made him look *_so_* weak & he wouldn't want to broadcast his deep-seated insecurities.

These two are always like "Tommy and Grace have a plan" lol. Come on - this show has already shown that Tommy doesn't always have a plan. He was almost killed by Sabini and was saved by Campbell. That was luck.

I understand the Michael/Polly scene I think. Would you want your mom sleeping with a cop to get you out of jail or would you rather just serve the time? I know my answer…
@austejajurkynaite971911 күн бұрын
True, but it also shows strenght, that a mother would go through anything for her child and I think that perspective is needed
@LuchoH83811 күн бұрын
@@austejajurkynaite9719 it shows weakness. That she would degrade herself like that. They are Shelby’s - they would find a way - if she only listened and thought a bit before she acted…
@nashantikeriana782411 күн бұрын
@@LuchoH838it doesn’t show weakness. It shows her determination for her child. Her love for him clouded any other thoughts and judgement. It wasn’t out of weakness but out of love. She couldn’t fathom the thought of him being in there, so she went in on an impulsive decision like most mothers would.
@LuchoH83811 күн бұрын
@@nashantikeriana7824 if she was strong and loved him she would do whats best for both of them and wait to find a proper solution. Sleeping with someone for an ulterior motive is never the solution.
@nashantikeriana782411 күн бұрын
@@LuchoH838 I think the point of the scene was to show how clouded her judgement was. She thought she was doing it out of love, a mothers love. Her son was taken from her before and she didn’t want that to happen again. So she did it because thats what she thought she HAD to do in that moment. It’s understandable. And it’s also understandable how Micheal would view this as weak being who they are. Two things can be true.

You have to remember, when the Police are throwing their weight around in this day and age, that, while Arthur & Michael didn't do anything, in the eyes of the 'law' they did. Arthur's prints are on the gun, and they beat Michael until he confessed to burning the Pub down, whether he did it or not, he is guilty in the eyes of the Law.

17:46 this thought. Aunt Polly as a character aways irked me a bit because she's such a hypocrite. Always ok with the business and it's benefits until it gets a little hairy. That and her loyalty sucks. She points guns and threatens Tommy when she doesn't get her way. No Bueno.
@ladyhotep518911 күн бұрын
I don't remember her loyalty ever not being there. Sure there were times where the audience thought she was sus only to find out it was part of the plan. Her pulling the banger out in Tommy ir talking shit came from love of her son. Talking shit and being extra doesn't diminish her loyalty to her family. In my opinion of course.
@Bigglesman9611 күн бұрын
@@ladyhotep5189 do you own any firearms? If you do I want you to imagine pointing one at a family member because of an argument. If you don't have any guns or know your way around them then you just don't understand how absolutely unhinged that is. To be willing to KILL Tommy when he literally just HELPED her out in the hugest way possible in my eyes is a massive betrayal of the worst kind. you DO NOT point a loaded weapon at anything you are not willing to shoot. I would never talk to her again if that were my aunt 😂. And the other betrayal I can't mention because it's a spoiler. But I'll just say she's always messing things up and is so easy to complain about Tommy without ever taking any accountability for her own actions

I still dont understand how people actually watched peaky blinders, all 6 seasons of it, and ACTUALLY liked grace. Grace is HORRIBLE. Left her "husband" for dead.
@igoonx1511 күн бұрын
Omg i'm glad you said that because people used to hate me when i say that I don’t like Grace at all, like at all. I understand her character but she’s unlikable to me and she’s actually horrible, sure Tommy is certainly not any better but people acknowledge how bad he is or anyone in that matter but when it comes to Grace a lot people will make all kinds of excuses to say she’s a good person or a whatever. I personally love the other girl more “I don’t want to spoil it for them”
@MMAisTHEbestSPORT0811 күн бұрын
@igoonx15 Exactly, they use the excuse of "Almost every character in peaky blinders are bad people including the guy you all love Tommy" but they refuse to accept that Tommy is actually likeable, and has PTSD from the war, Tommy is also very blatantly a bad person with good qualities, we openly accept him as a bad person although likeable, however grace is not seen as a bad person. Same thing with Lizzie, hated her, Esme was MEH, Arthur's girl needed torture. The one girl they did perfectly throughout the series was polly and she wasn't even a love interest 😂
@igoonx1511 күн бұрын
@@MMAisTHEbestSPORT08 everyone is horrible in this story, that’s the beauty of it so it rubs me wrong when some people always try to paint Grace as the victim or a good person because she’s not, they will always compare her to Tommy and say she's not bad, and i'm like just because Tommy as bad doesn’t mean she isn’t... idk her character feels bland and i just don’t like her, I understand her character i really do but meh i don’t find her likable. But i do love Lizzie, her character arc confused me at the beginning but when i got used to her, i find her more likable than Grace or any other love interests for Tommy. Maybe because people are not trying to paint her as perfect because she’s not, but i liked her with Tommy. Just me tho. Either way, i just don’t like Grace 😂 but yeah Polly and Ada are my favorite female characters in PB.

bro think about it, she's a mother whose son was snatched from her when he was little, and now she got him and again lost to the hands of cops, Apparently any mother would be terrified and consider her son over any fooking business, her "obsession" which you say is love for her, for her long lost son whom she just got back.
