4/30/24..Great video Pete, very well lighted, clean/clear organized display surface/area. Excellent speech clarity & understandable speed of spoken delivery. Also minimum human physical body movements/ distractions; camera kept focus/aim on the product subject. When display of liquid discharge, either solid stream or atomized spray (cloud) was shown, you carefully selected either a dark (carpet square) surface target was used or when spray was to be shown, you chose an upward direction clearly showing a distant background of both a dark gray fence & a medium red-orange brick side of structure. So lots of video testing/editing/replay for presentation impact was evident. This was a very easy to watch & understand video on a kinda in-depth subject of changing the drive motor of cordless (battery) Grayco Paint Sprayor. Hi Rick, great to hear from you and share your journey.. I do love to hear from Carpenters, it’s a bit of a passion of mine, watching and learning from my dad growing up (he’s 88 now).. The UQS is a small job sprayer, but could handle trim / woodwork in small amounts, say tackling one room at a time.. if the amount is on the larger side, perhaps look at a GX19 (it’s named a GXFF here, GX19 in North America).. the Cordless version is like a bigger version of the UQS (hopper feed design).. I wish yourself and your wife, a happy, healthy retirement.. have fun tackling your new and exciting project.. please keep in touch, I’d love to hear how it all goes ..and if I can be of any help with some advise, please feel free to reach out 🙏 Thanks for your kind feedback on the video 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯

@PaintHQ9 ай бұрын
@johnthemod71 Hi John, that’s a good question.. Yes, I’ve used a 25cm extension and you do still get a very small spit - that’s virtually undetectable in the finish when spraying ceilings.. logically a spit will occur when using any extension on any gun, because the paint that’s in the extension past the shut off of the needle, is at a lower pressure by the time the paint passes through the tip - so the spit is un-atomised paint 👍 hope this makes sense 😄 regards Pete

I’m still trying to trouble shoot mine. I just got it. Did a quick test on Friday and sprayed a bright green color. It did amazing. Loved it. Cleaned it. Ran like 4 pots of water through it till i got clear water. Came back yesterday and wanted to try a clear coat. Ran some water to make sure it was nice and clean. Glad I did. Little bit of paint came back in the prime. Not much. Cleaned it again really well till everything was nice and clear. Dumped the water and added my clear. Primed. Painted. It did so good. I loved it. Just loved it. I did notice though when I went to add more material that there was an ever so slight green tint to my clear coat. It did not affect the finish so I kept going. Today however was not the same. I was very diligent in cleaning last night. And again wanted to make sure I cleaned it well so ran some water through it. Everything seemed great. Added my paint and moved forward. I noticed as soon as I went to prime the gun that a little bit of watery clear coat came up. It was fine for what I was doing so i continued. In my haste I did forget to filter my paint. I did get some junk in the filter. cleaned it. I can shoot water through it fine. Now when I add paint i get maybe two passes and then paint wont come out. I’ve tried everything.
@PaintHQ5 ай бұрын
Hello my friend.. the symptoms you describe, specifically ‘junk in the filter’, then being able to spray a couple of passes before stoping - suggests the tip is blocked.. if you remove the tip and tip guard, does paint spray through the line and gun?.. if the tip is blocked, try soaking in Pump Armour overnight and spray hot water (just hot from the tap), speed 10 with the tip in the ‘unblock’ position 👍 let me know how you get on my friend.. regards Pete 💙💯

@AngieWilliamsDesigns You’re very welcome, and I’m sure you’ll get to the bottom of the problem.. I try to think logically and take a few steps back.. for example does water prime in the cup, then switching to spray (with tip / tip guard removed), does water exit the gun? If so, does the speed work 1-10.. if so, add a tip guard and tip and try a different tip, then does water pressurise and spray through the tip?.. I’m sure you’ll eliminate the ‘problem’ 👍💙💯 regards Pete

Hey Jeff, great news on your QuickShot purchase 💙 .. a couple of tips, especially working in the heat.. any down times, put the unit into prime, lock trigger and quarter turn the tip - this will close off the orifice and help stop the tip drying out .. also keep some white spirit handy, to keep the tip / tip guard clean - you could also wrap a white spirit soaked cloth around the tip / tip guard 👍 all helps in the heat to stop tip drying out.. always test the fan pattern on scrap paper before spraying.. any blockages, twist to unblock and spray it out.. Also keep the unit in the shade, and plug in the lid 👍 good luck my friend, keep in touch - I’d love to hear how you get on.. regards Pete 💙💯

Hi Pete My gun will leave a tail when using fflp 210 or 310. Its ok when using 514. Any advice? Thank you
@PaintHQ6 ай бұрын
Hello my friend, happy to help if I can.. it depends on your application / what you’re spraying.. if a latex / emulsion, then a 514 is the right choice out the 3 you mention.. You could thin the material - now I don’t like to do that with woodwork / joinery paint.. Then, the golden rule of increasing in tip size orifice, eg .008 -> .010 -> .012 is after increasing pressure and pressure becomes higher than you would expect (in the example of the QuickShot, you’re at speed 9 or 10), and tails are occurring.. that’s when to increase orifice size - your test with a 514 confirms that theory.. you may need a 312 or 412.. paint is spread thinner over a wider angle, 412 Vs 312, so a 412 could be a better option, or move quicker with a 312.. some tip size selections are a trade off.. Hope that helps my friend.. keep in touch.. regards Pete 💙💯

@martinball39289 ай бұрын
Thanks for this great video Pete. I have just seen it and was very interested in your spraying with the FFLP 206 tip. What is the viscosity of the primer you were using (Ford cup), and can you also spray other primers if they are thinned to the same viscosity. If the prime valve opens to release excess pressure, does this do any harm, and can you tell when it does it. You say that the paint was not atomising fully but was spraying beautifully - perhaps you could elaborate on this. Use of the FFLP 206 tip looks useful for spraying smaller and more intricate items where HVLP would normally be used, so I am looking forward to your video on using this tip.
@PaintHQ9 ай бұрын
Hey Martin, thank you for watching and your kind words.. Yes in theory, if the viscosity is low enough, materials will spray through FFLP 106 and 206 tips - other factors are in play, such as the ‘sprayability’ of the material, where some pigments would be problematic, atomising through airless spraying.. I’ll have to do a video to demonstrate further - in this video, what you see is very good atomisation through a FF LP 206, at speed 4.5 - I found just a .5 more, so speed 5 (there’s a sweet spot).. would cause the prime valve to open (you can hear it) - material still atomises, but if you think of the unit ‘very quickly dropping and building pressure’ - what you’ll get a spray pattern that’s not fully atomising.. it all happens very quickly and is a safety feature to stop over pressuring and protect the pump 👍 you have to think of .006” tip as smaller than a human hair and pushing material through under pressure, the pressure will soon build.. So I understand why the Graco ‘official’ minimum tip support is .008 ..it would be less ‘problematic’.. the fluid flow between a .006 and .008 is considerably less 👍 If I recall, this video demos the difference using a mechanical gun and a 395.. EXPLAINED Graco FFLP 106 and FFLP 108. Paint Viscosity and Airless Spray Tips kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmO3mZeuoruCgtk ..I will make a video specific to the UQS, the .006 tips and paint viscosity.. You do get HVLP like control, especially spraying spindles with a 106.. in the past I’ve used a 108, you have to move extremely quick 😫 Hope this helps explain a little.. appreciate your support 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯

Hi Pete top shelf video as is the norm for you. Would you say the performance of the unit is the same as a Gxff its just the amount of paint that’s needed to operate the unit it’s just I’m thinking of getting one or the other to go with my old 495st thank you 👏👏
@PaintHQ9 ай бұрын
Hey Paul, thank you my friend, as always I appreciate you watching and your support 🙏 It would be wrong to choose the Ultra QuickShot over the GX models, unless the projects being sprayed really are that small - I think of the GXFF, especially the Cordless GXFF as the ‘big brother’ to the UQS - Same principle in paint delivery with its hopper / gravity feed of material, but the GX ProXChange pump would be more robust - The Cordless GXFF is on my wish list 😄 Now the QuickShot will certainly be a good complement to your 495 👍 There is things you can do for your 495 to reduce the amount of material required to get spraying, a hopper / finishing kit / 3/16” hose for example 👍 Apologies, perhaps give off topic.. hope this helps.. regards Pete 💙💯

@PaintHQ9 ай бұрын
Hi Ben, good question.. Yes absolutely - like you say, using an FFLP tip, in conjunction with the material being sprayed 👍 I see many in the refinishing world, sharing results where they’ve sprayed cabinet doors and boxes.. particularly useful onsite manoeuvring the electronic gun into tight spaces 👍 Then if I compare what I’ve achieved with a bigger airless pump, Vs the Ultra QuickShot.. the finish is the same - just remember the UQS is for smaller spraying projects 👍 ..Great to hear from you in Chicago my friend 🇺🇸💙💯 regards Pete

@PaintHQ9 ай бұрын
Hi Mike, thanks for sharing your experience.. I’m not familiar with Armstead and it’s ‘sprayability’ - I’m suspecting it’s a product that doesn’t atomise and spray well, certainly as you say it won’t go through a .008 - most thixotropic / brush / roller products are paired with a .010 as they’re higher viscosity.. maybe a .012 such as a 312 or 412 is more suitable 🤔 it’s hard to say, I could be wrong.. regards Pete

Hello Pete. I have a quick shot and have been really happy with it. Yesterday I tried to use it and it won’t spray paint. It atomizes water fine but when I put paint in it the pump will spray for 10 seconds or so then lose pressure and a stream of paint will come out of the tip. After watching this I’m wondering if the pump needs replacing. We mainly use it to spray trim and doors since it doesn’t spit as much as our 695 airless.

@PaintHQ5 ай бұрын
Yes you can my friend 👍 it just causes the unit to tip up a little because the bigger battery no longer sits flush with the bottom of the sprayer.. I have to say, the UQS is designed for small jobs, so longer runtime is not overly recommended - plus you get 2 batteries, so the one on charge will finish charging before the one in use runs out.. I’ve pretty much not used more than one battery on a job - one battery has been sufficient, including cleaning 👍 hope this helps.. regards Pete 💙💯
