The problem you have with Zach Edey is wild. Ja played his best basketball with Steven Adams, a guy who can't do much outside the key. Teach Edey how to set picks and crash the key at an NBA level like Adams can, and he's the perfect fit next to Ja. Dude is 7'4, 300 pounds, and can get rebounds at will. I'd agree that there's a risk with how he adjusts to the NBA since he's a very old school build, but when it comes to what Memphis needed from this draft then he was the best option available. A big body, that can get rebounds, and can physically clear the key for Ja.

Definitely see the reasoning behind Salaün being a reach for Charlotte but as a fan I liked the pick a lot. The new front office Jeff Peterson and coach charles Lee made it clear they were both super high on this kid from the get go and loved what they saw about his work ethic and shot and defensive ability so I’m gonna trust them. He was flying up the boards and was likely getting grabbed in the top 10 anyway imo so I respect the move taking a bigger risk on a raw prospect especially in a weak draft like this.

I’ve become more accepting of the Topic pick a day after. He’ll replace the main facilitator of the bench unit role that Giddey refused. Perimeter defense is still a question but the block on Knecht in the elite eight shows he can move and has great body control when he needs to. The B+ for the Bulls pick is a little generous. When you have a lottery pick, and you’re in rebuild mode (like the Bulls should be) you should find the playmaker or scorer you can build around first Bc that’s the hardest skill set to find. Buzelis’ weaknesses are dribbling and shooting. His strengths are rim protection, off-ball defense, and cutting without the ball. Those are the last skillsets you acquire to fill out the roster after you have your starting 5. I’m not saying he can’t be a productive player, just saying he has the skillset to match a win-now roster. Not a rebuild.

As a small country with one NBA player, one of the questions was on Deni (yes, they are idiots and unprofessionals). The Edey pick was the worst of the first round for me. I think this is a terrible fit with Memphis. I think Edey would have benefited more from going to a place where he would be a bench player and would only have to play 10-15 minutes a night for the first couple years till he can get in shape and be able to run with an NBA team, and also work on transitioning his game to an NBA style game.
