In this second part of Vehicle Performance we will discuss about Total Driving Resistance which comprises of Tyre Rolling Resistance, Aerodynamic Drag Resistance, Grade Climbing Resistance and Acceleration Resistance. We will also discuss about Dynamic Equation of vehicle, Maximum Tractive Efforts, Coefficient of Road Adhesion, Adhesion, Dynamic Wheel Radius and Tyre Slip.

A car of weight 1200kg is moving upward on a hilly terrain having grading resistance of 3050 Newton . If rolling resistance is 3 % of road resistance and acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m / s² , then calculate . i ) Road angle in degree 2.road Resistance Please sir Solve this question

Step 1: Calculate the road resistance. Road resistance = Grading resistance + Rolling resistance Grading resistance = 3050 Newton Rolling resistance = 3% of grading resistance Rolling resistance = 0.03 * 3050 Rolling resistance = 91.5 Newton Road resistance = Grading resistance + Rolling resistance Road resistance = 3050 + 91.5 Road resistance = 3141.5 Newton Step 2: Calculate the road angle in degrees. Road angle = arctan(grading resistance / (weight * acceleration due to gravity)) Road angle = arctan(3050 / (1200 * 9.8)) Road angle = arctan(3050 / 11760) Road angle ≈ 14.72 degrees So, the road angle is approximately 14.72 degrees.

i) To calculate acceleration resistance, we can use the formula: Acceleration resistance = mass of the car * acceleration due to gravity * sin(slope angle) Acceleration resistance = 1800 kg * 9.8 m/s^2 * sin(15°) Acceleration resistance = 1800 * 9.8 * 0.2588 Acceleration resistance = 4514.92 N ii) To calculate grading resistance, we can use the formula: Grading resistance = mass of the car * acceleration due to gravity * cos(slope angle) + aerodynamic drag + rolling resistance Grading resistance = 1800 kg * 9.8 m/s^2 * cos(15°) + 200 N + 0.01 * 1800 kg * 9.8 m/s^2 Grading resistance = (1800 * 9.8 * 0.9659) + 200 + (0.01 * 1800 * 9.8) Grading resistance = 16821.24 + 200 + 176.4 Grading resistance = 17097.64 N So, the acceleration resistance is 4514.92 N and the grading resistance is 17097.64 N.

kinematics is the study of the motion of objects without regard to the forces that cause the motion. Dynamics is the study of how forces affect the motion of objects. So here we are taking care of various force.

Dear, these ISI standards are framed to give equal opportunity and conditions to each vehicle and vehicle manufacturers. Committee recommended the conditions, testing methods to evaluate the performance. This perticular section is for gradeability testing. Actually ARAI follows these instructions while testing and certification of vehicle. Are you preparing for some Vehicle Inspector Exam or for University exams or working as a testing engineer in some plant or agency?

If Unit of rotational inertia constant is kg....then the unit of force will never be in Newton (N)..... please check for it

The standard unit for mass is kilograms (kg), and the standard unit for distance is meters (m). Therefore, the unit of rotational inertia is usually expressed in terms of kilograms times meters squared (kg·m²). The unit of force is the Newton (N), where 1 Newton is defined as 1 kilogram meter per second squared (kg·m/s²). So, the unit of force is not directly related to the unit of rotational inertia. However, in rotational dynamics, torque (which is analogous to force in linear dynamics) is the product of force and the lever arm's length. The unit of torque is also expressed in terms of force and distance, and it is measured in Newton-meters (N·m) or Joules (J).
