Exactly on the automotive. Speaking frok a US prespective. Mecheng degrees dont usually have any aerodynamics classes, so an aerospace degree helps with that since AE grads take many ME classes and 1 or 2 ECE classes like statics, dynamics, circuit analysis 1, thermodynamics, mechanics of materials, and probably strength of materials.

Brother what is median salary of a rocket scientist in ESA or any other good agency in UK?
@SA64R
@SA64R 3 жыл бұрын
So for ESA, it is likely you will be working in another European country rather than the UK if you want to be a rocket engineer specifically. But to answer your questions, the median salary for this type of engineer after a few years of experience is £78,000 per year. Here is an example job: jobs.esa.int/job/Frascati-Vega-Launch-System-Engineer-ESRI/686629601/

Thanks! So I'd say getting into civil aerospace and automotive will be much easier to get into as a graduate compared to motorsports, due to the competitiveness. With the UK graduated visa now available it will reduce the need to ensure your employer sponsors your visa.

@SA64R
@SA64R 3 жыл бұрын
It is definitely, NOT EASY. Best way is to do an internship at a company like Airbus and then they invite you back for a grad role if you performed well. Second case is work on student projects and demonstrate your practical skills and have these to talk about in interviews. If you do the bare minimum, you're very unlikely to get any well paid graduate job. Also for these roles, you typically want to begin applying when your final year starts since they already choose their graduate engineers before you have officially graduated.

I worry when I hear someone has had to study a masters degree just to go into the field of work they want to apply for, but I digress. I'll see if I want to continue working for Aerospace after I graduate my degree - yes you heard that right I landed a job with one and I ain't even doing a Aerospace degree... makes me wonder what the point is. I got in through AI and Robotics which is semi related, others got in through Games Programming and a general Computer Science degree... makes me think it's not what you know, it's who you know. I'm looking at these other possibilities and I actually considered working for lloyds but wrote it off because I would probably be bored working with databases all day. Thanks for the suggestion of Automotive though: that's actually a field I could see me getting into if Software doesn't sound all that appealing - oooh boy a position at Googell: what exactly would I be designing another gadget that spies on people or a piece of software that allows you to dissect information - same problem with amazon, there's just nothing that springs to mind when I think of these two. Netflix on the other hand does make you think about how to improve a streaming service but yeh the popular main 5 rally saturates an already saturated market when it comes to innovation. I personally want my next company to really motivate me: and no thanks aws: I don't want to go to your 2 hour long seminar on poorly explaining training how tos.

@SA64R
@SA64R 2 жыл бұрын
If Sudan has any aerospace engineering opportunities, I'd say try and get into those companies and gain some experience, then apply for a scholarship after a few years in the UK or USA to study a master's degree. This way you will learn whether or not you want to continue on the engineering/aerospace route without committing to study elsewhere which could be very costly.

I'm not fully sure on the reason why the pay is lower on this side of the Atlantic, but I'd say it comes down to cost of living.
