"In the pipe, five by five" was a quote from the dropship pilot in Aliens (5 by 5 being a now-outdated term for basically "have you loud & clear"). It also ended up being used by an airborne Terran unit in either Starcraft or Starcraft 2.

@@chocolatesunday4798 Well, it is kinda functional, but A: the design is dated and B: there is a huge augment between the Luftwaffe and the Kriegsmarine about who should be in charge of the air wing, which delayed the outfitting of the ship further, later Luffwaffe also pulled most of the naval air support which resulted a Aircraft carrier without any plane anyways. All these was added upon a change of Hitler general strategy to target Britain directly, which means the aircraft carrier becomes much much less important then battleships and cruisers.

Historical fact: B-17's did start with .30 Calibers and were later upgraded to .50's. Probably because they saw the result of shooting with .30 calibers being like spitballs. Also, the Engineer was usually the gunner for the top turret. Seems like the only position really missing here is the co-pilot.

Baron, the twin engine Messerschmitt are Bf 110. Designed to be a fighter with a heavier more punch than the Bf 109, it wasn't as stellar at dogfighting that its single engine cousin, the stellar Bf 109. But it found a niche as a night fighter and bomber interception craft due to its heavier armament than the Bf 109. It was soon upgraded to have a radar attached to it for an easier time identifying targets at night, the reason why it had the little prongs at the nose.

graff zeppelin was, in fact, built. Although it was finished after the war and then it was sunk by a soviet submarine in the baltic sea circa 1947.

The B-17 flying fortress originally had 10 crew members; The pilot, the copilot, the navigator, the bombardier, the radio operator, and the rest gunners. Yet sometimes the bomber crew doesn't have a copilot, so this is why this has only nine members.

So Graf Zeppelin was actually built. She was 85% Complete, but construction was halted in 1939 to instead focus on the U-boat Fleet and ground forces. Construction would never be resumed, although all she needed was her fitting out. The vessel was scuttled in 1945 to prevent her capture, but was raised by the Soviets in 1946 and sunk as a target ship the following year. A Polish Survey vessel discovered her wreck in 2006.

From what I heard, back during WWII, the USAAF would rotate their pilots out on a frequent basis so the more experienced ones could teach the newer ones. Japan didn't do that; they'd keep on sending their best guys forward so there really wasn't anyone back home training the pilots properly. Am I right or is that horribly wrong, a myth perpetuated by America to make them sound smarter and everyone did pilot rotation?

In the B-17 (esp. the 'G' model) the nose gunner would also serve as the bombardier... Unlike other aircraft like the Lancaster and Liberator in which the nose turret and the bombardier station were manned by two separate crew members...

Something I would say is that some of your guys have those traits, and some of them seem to coordinate with some of the roles of the aircraft, IE Ann was a meteorologist, so she could be a good navigator. I don't know if this is in the game, but you could test and see if you match those skills up if it give them a bonus.

The Graf Zeppelin was built to the point that it was seaworthy or close to it but they never where able to build the aircraft for it which included a carrier variants of both the Stuka and the BF109 which was designated BF 109 T. Its fate was that it was attacked a few time during the war but its final fate was that it was used by the Soviets for target practice and is resting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea off the cost of Poland. She was completed in 1938 there was a plan for 4 of them but Graf Zeppelin was the only one to be constructed the other 3 where cancelled it was part of German's Plan Z which was to build a German Navy.

Graf zepplin does get built by the germans but because of shortage of metal the ship got delayed . In the end of the war the ship is captured by the soviets

Make you bombardier a gunner because it will take a lot more micromanaging to get a gunner to use the front guns, and you might as well put him there, he doesn’t do much else anyways

Baron if you have a engineer being a gunner if you don't mind losing some speed give them the flak jacket and fingerless gloves BUT REMEMBER the service cap aswell
