One of the things I've always loved about power-lifting and strong man events, is the crowd generally doesn't care who wins. They love the effort and training put in by each contestant and will happily scream for them regardless.

It's because you legit want to see everyone's best lifting. Like really after Eddie halbrook that 500 Mark it's not like anybody didn't want to see all 3 guys lift it. I'm a cool that Eddie predicted and then did it. So often these guys are so focused you don't get to that world. It's funny how many guys that are power lifters are very unassuming very humble. Some even seem like real sweethearts 😅 really though guys like Brian Shaw and Benny Magnusson it's like they've been pumping the signal for a while "Hey check this out" Eddie breaking 500 was the biggest spike the sport has seen and really started watchingback in the 90s. I love how it's taken off though If I'm watching anything now it's either informational or powerlifting.
@superimposedfun

@@BlackCroft666it's a very basic thing that we zll want to know who strongest and what is possible. One guy says I'm gonna lift this who else wants to try. I don't want to root against any of them knowing that they train all the time giving up so much. You know it's really weird I think it's like the only thing that people call us for where eulogy to matley if you can lift that way you want to see if anybody else can do it you know it's not like anybody's taking anything away from you.

He should have skipped 470 and saved his energy for the 505. When Eddie and Thor did their world record lifts, they saved their energy for the big lift. Neither of them attempted anything close to 500 in their warmups. Don't get me wrong - 470 is an INSANE lift. There are less than a dozen men to ever pull 470. In fact, before Eddie hit 500, the world record was 460. So 470 is a MASSIVE achievement. 8 years ago, he would have had a world record. With that said, you are either here to "win" the "contest", or you are "committed" to a "world record". You can't do both. You can't try to do a "winning lift", then see if you can make the world record. You need to throw down the gauntlet and make a firm decision. I think he has 505 in him. He just needs to commit to the lift and forget about trying to secure a victory first.

Great attempt 470 move incredibly fast especially from the floor.. what an explosive athlete. I remember watching eddies 500kg lift was amazing. This man is capable off 505kg 100%.

Who else did it? As far as I know there was Hafthor but not in competition and some sumo deadlifts but you know what they say about world records outside conpetition and sumo deadlifts.

@@HardWithStyle97 yeah imagine thinking you should wait multi years to break a record you could do now cause you have to wait for a comp cause of covid also what even makes it count as a comp just the fact some rich people hosted it lol

@@williambrinkmeier1772Nothing you said made sense. The bar (stiff bar) and plates were weighed, it was sanctioned and officiated. Sorry, do you think Giants Live is the only authority on who holds records or not? So one group of rich guys is superior to another? You have no clue what you're saying.

I'm convinced Hicks spent too much time bent over thinking about it. I think he psyched himself out of it. He got it up to his knees he was almost there.

Im proud of my 383kg deadlift, But definitely dont miss the Tren sweats and high blood pressure from all the eating lol, 2 years later Im happy to deadlift around 760-800Lbs at 240lbs bodyweight. On trt and somewhat healthy lol, seeing these men shocks me. unbelievable strength. just to get the bar off the ground...pulling the slack, bracing, theres only so much a suit can do lol.

Its impressive these guys are getting as close as they are because they are way smaller than Eddie and Thor were when they did their lifts.
@Zepherian
@Zepherian Жыл бұрын
It's viable for the shorter guys, as they lock out their knees with the weight lower to the ground. Thor and Eddie need to get the same weight higher for it to count.
