Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Zach, My name is Wendell, and I had the worst case of Pancreatitis the doctor's would see this year. After four months, 3 major surgeries and dozens of procedures, I am finally in a recovery mode. It was all caused by a 6mm gall stone blocking my main bile duct causing my pancreas middle and tail to necrotize or die. Due to malnutrition at the hospital(they weren't feeding me enough through the IV), I now have a problem of not being able to absorb all the nutrients from the food. Taking some enzymes to help with that, which is keeping me alive right now. I was a heavy diesel mechanic for 25+ years and thoroughly enjoyed that work. Really enjoy seeing your videos and all the work you guys do. Please make sure that your are not passing gall stones, or that you have a build up of gall stones in your gallbladder. Keep up the good work.

Keep clear of that sweep. I got wrapped up in a 10” last November. I had to fight for my life to get free. While it was eating me alive I called out to God for help. It immediately fell off me and stopped turning. The universal between the gearbox and the auger broke which saved my life. It was nothing short of a miracle. I Thank the Lord my kids still have a dad.

I was watching this video today from last summer and you mentioned having pancreatitis. Unfortunately I had to retire from my job because of pancreatitis. I was a fire fighter for 25 years and ended up with hereditary pancreatitis. It has led me to many surgeries and different chronic conditions now. I hope and pray that you never have to battle pancreatitis again. Not sure where you went to a doctor, but they have excellent physicians at the University of Minnesota. I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot about today’s farming!

I remember cleaning out grain bins. That stuff sucked!! Our auger wasn’t that nice so let’s just say there was a lot more shoveling involved 😂😂. I remember my spit was black from all the dust that got in my system from doing that stuff. Ohhh the good ol days…..yah here in Texas we hung it up about 5 years ago. Hard to make a living like this anymore. Love what y’all are doing!! Keep it up!

I worked for a local cattle and row crop farmer after we had to sell out our dairy farming business. He had combined some wet milo and stored it in a grain bin for several months. The top 6 inches or so molded and he made me get in the grain bin and bust it up before he started hauling it off. He didn’t tell me to wear a mask or offer me one. It took me an hour or so to get the job done. That night my chest started hurting so bad that I thought I might actually die from breathing in all that mold dust. I coughed up a nasty dark phlegm from my lungs for nearly a week. I’m lucky that it didn’t kill me.

Thank you for your safety talk about grain bins. They are not to play in. One of my uncles did not realize that getting in a grain bin would be the end of his farming days. He had an aneurysm and he was found at the top trying to shovel the "top" grain in a wooden granary. . . . There are other true stories involving children. Their father was even present. It involved canola. They suffocated before their dad could get to them. . . . By the way, pancreatitis is serious, as you know. We have some sad stories in our church involving the pancreas. We can learn from some experiences and go on or we can pretend that it only affects others. . . . 🤔
