I made this and my variation. Added some nutmeg and allspice to the apples as well as cinnamon. I also topped it with large flake oats and brown sugar. Then I drizzled with maple syrup. Then to make the mixture in the food processor i used medjool dates to sweeten it up and a small amount of stevia and a tablespoon of honey. I also added ground flax and vanilla extract. I used a combo of melted coconut oil and grass fed butter. It turned out delicious! I served it with dairy free vanilla icecream made with coconut milk so yumm

I did not realize it until recently but the butter/eggs/milk needs to say 100% pasture raised organic. Otherwise the animals are likely only in pasture to feed at sporadic times so they can technically be defined as 'pasture raised.'

Clean & Delicious it was delicious! I used a variety of nuts I had soaked first to get the phytic acid decreased. Used almond meal since I ran out of almonds and put chia seeds in the crust for extra crunch and omegas. Did about 1/3 cup dates and a few squirts of honey to make it sticky. Since I'm quite sensitive to cinnamon I did a mixture of cloves, ginger, allspice, and a touch of cinnamon in the apples with some arrowroot powder to keep it from getting runny. This recipe is a life saver. Thank you

yes! 100% I Think the oats would work in place of the coconut BUT I might add an extra tbsp or two of honey since the coconut does lend a sweet flavor.

Great recipe as usual :) But can I substitute the butter with olive oil?
@CleanandDeliciousDani8 жыл бұрын
I suppose you could. I personally would go with coconut oil over olive oil for the flavor - plus coconut oil is more stable when cooking. BUT ultimately, I'm sure olive would work.

***** Thank you very much for responding, I asked about the olive oil because I can't have regular oil or butter because of my diet but the olive oil that I use has no strong flavor to it :)
