Beating up girl or elderly man is not cool, not even Mr. Kowalski can stand it. Speaking from experience, he is not buffing.
These people are surely grateful and have hospitality. Honorable as well. The flower thing makes sense or him~

This film received no Oscars for one reason: Clint Eastwood angered the Hollywood elite establishment by casting a lot of "amateurs" in the roles of the Hmong kids, thereby "taking jobs away" from professional actors. The fact is, there are very few Hmong professional actors out there to fill those roles, so Eastwood would have had to use mostly non-Hmong Asians if he had used professional actors. Anyway, the fact that Eastwood "took jobs away" from professional actors was unforgivable in the eyes of the Hollywood elite who control the Academy Awards, and they punished him by refusing to even nominate this film for any major Oscars.

I went to see this movie with my Dad back in 2008 in Florida not too far from the trailer park he lived in. He was 80 years old, a retired Navy Officer and one of the sweetest people you would ever meet until you messed with him or someone else. Till this day when I watch scenes from this movie I see my Dad. He used to ride the bus to work into D.C. from Arlington, VA. He once made the bus driver stop on the middle of the 14th street bridge so he could lift with one arm a young jerk off the bus and onto the sidewalk for smoking a cigarette on the bus. He got a standing ovation from all the riders that day. He also went off on a U.S. Border Patrol Agent in upstate New York for stopping us at a road block. He made him prove that he had jurisdiction to stop us. He hated to see anyone's rights infringed and he hated the militarization of law enforcement in this country. He said it made us look like a third world country. He loved civil society and only wore his uniform when he was required to wear it while in the Navy.

Well you're very lucky to have a grandfather like him. Thank you for his service and sacrifice he gave us. Also the part about using bodies for sandbags is pretty accurate. It did happen during the Korean war not that there were rules I mean war is not politically correct. But the truth is when it came to the UN forces holding back waves of waves of North Korean and Chinese soldiers. They didn't have time to make sand bags so instead they use the remains of their enemies. Sometimes either because they didn't have time to prepare. Other times because the ground would be so hard to dig a foxhole during the cold winter which would be -40 to -70 below zero to the point where the body that froze would be a Statue.

"Get off my lawn" scene always reminds me of the "get off my porch" scene from Every Which Way But Loose, in which Eastwood played opposite an orangutan. For those who haven't seen it, definitely give it and it's sequel a try as they are both funny.

Classic Eastwood film. With a terrific theme song. Who would have thought decades ago that an actor famous for his cowboy roles would be such a talented director. Oscar calibre....even if the Oscars have become more about business than actual film appreciation. Wonder how long it's going to be till this film is re-released on 4k Bluray with a Dolby Atmos sound track.

I had an M1 Garand, I bought it as a collection along with an M1 carbine. They were both in beautiful condition. The M1 was a pleasure to shoot and shot very well for an off the rack military grade rifle. I grew up among giants and it appealed to me as a man’s rifle. I love the fact that it’s Clint’s rifle in this movie
