The scene from "Falling Down" where Bill Foster (A.K.A D-FENS) meets up with some rather unfriendly gang members. The tables get turned quite fast.

Louis Lokuta 😂 yes a sandwich 🥪 can be very valuable if you’re hungry 😋. I only wrote my original post because at this point in the film the audience has NO IDEA what the contents of the briefcase are. Most people would have given the briefcase 💼 and minimal contents instead of fighting two thugs with knives 🔪. Obviously 🙄, not Michael Douglas’ character!
@drumyogi92814 жыл бұрын
The briefcase is a metaphor for his old life. It is empty, shallow and all that resides is the bare essentials (sandwhich and an apple). He finally gives it up for his new life when he finds the bag of guns (destruction and chaos).

In America at least, most of those men are out of shape and dealing with health conditions that require going to the pharmacy 1-3 times per month. No grown dude pass his prime is fucking up real gang members or even dudes from college campus, sorry. Btw ask or read up on some of the best boxers/MMA fighters. Clear minds= much more room for error. Some dude who's running out of luck and has real issues will have a cloudy head. There's a reason why athlete's get paid so well, so their issues away from their sports can at least be compromised with $$$ like bills, college tuitions, food etc. Sounds like Bill Bur is going to get some middle age men fucked up lol. True prime for physically and mentally fit males in America/Canada are late 20s to really early 30s.

Specially after the trauma of lockdown under COVID. People has become more short tempered. I remember shuddering when I first watched Fallling Down. This is a very complicated and complex movie, it mirrors the most complicated and complex thing in the universe: man. At the end of his rope, he suffered injustice yet he turned self righteous. There’s a very good saying in English though: two wrongs don’t make a right. Even though I can identify with his emotional pain, violence / revenge is never the answer. But yeah, this a classical and visionary movie. It will always be current. It deals with mental decay, the man is really falling down, breaking down before our eyes. And this is very real, everywhere, all the time. Sad. I would really love hearing Dr. Jordan Peterson analysis on this character.

This movie is genius, it's actually ironic in some way. The main character is considered a psychopath, but in reality, he isn't that crazy, maybe it's just society itself that made him that way. In other words, there's nothing wrong with him, he's just the product of our flawed society, it just so happens that he couldn't handle it.

One thing in this movie that’s often overlooked is the weapons. Each time he is confronted by the sickness of society, it upgrades his weapons. Becoming more and more violent and punishing to society, thus society gives him the upgrades of weapons. It’s a subtle symbology. He started with nothing, but the violent interactions each time, upgrade his response.

The briefcase was basically worthless, but in the mind of the character, that was all he had, so it mattered a great deal to him. It was worth fighting for. When people try to steal, there’s no consideration for relative worth. If there were, they might not steal as much.
@nvstewart3 жыл бұрын
If it mattered as much as you think it did, he wouldn't of given it to the the bum at the park. If I had something that I don't need or even want and someone came up to me demanding that I give it them, like in this clip, I am going to tell them to go fuck themselves. If they asked nicely however, I would say "Go ahead, take it, it's yours!". Get the picture? RECAP: Why did he not give the briefcase to the thugs? They were aggressive and violent. Why did he give the briefcase to the bum? He was only being annoying (non-violent), and he also wasn't getting the picture. Giving him the briefcase was the final "don't harass me, I ain't gonna help you, get off my back!", the bum annoyed him no more.
@FlyingSaucerEyez3 жыл бұрын
Well it wasnt worth something because thats all he had. not in the monetary sense. it was a matter of principle. it wasnt because thats all he had. its because its what he had. he had a lot more than a brief case.

I share your confusion on how he could fuck up Batman and Robin so badly, maybe he had his hand forced and had to make decisions on the film he didn't want to do, I wouldn't know, all I do know is that he made Falling Down and Phone Booth, two really well made movies.. :D
