Constantly getting motion sickness was the main reason why I didn't enjoy the PSVR that much. I thought it was interesting he mentions feeling bad after playing GTA on the PSVR after a few minutes, but he could play this PSVR2 version well with no issues. Did Sony do something technically to help prevent motion sickness?

I did GT Sport in VR. I could only last 2 laps before feeling sick. The guy in the video went through the same thing but had a better experience with GT7. That gives me hope.

@@45mmRoger I had same issue with driveclub especially on inclines and declines , but continued use will stop that , just take breaks don't push yaself , but have regular play and motion sickness becomes a thing of the past

Im not gonna buy it for one because it costs more than the console itself and also i havent used my ps5 at all lately so im thinking of selling it but most of all this stuff probably wont work on pc and console gets boring after a while due to lack of modding abilities. But other than that the headset is amazing its just that ps5 is underwhelming to me.

This is great news for those who have not experienced it. I've been racing in VR for 3 years or so now in iRacing and can't go back to a screen. The stereoscopic 3D can't be beat and in a racing game the immersion is incredible since you're sitting there only feeling the wheel in your hand. Whatever car you drive seems like you're really in it as the full interior is visible and your hands are on the wheel of whatever car you are in. It makes you forget what wheel is actually in your hand and you feel like you're using the Virtual wheel you're seeing in your headset.

A man of culture, I see :) Been racing and driving (and flying) in VR for barely 8 months, I don't want to touch any of those games without VR still. It's just something else when it's on a game where it makes sense (you seating or barely needing to move). @Chr Rep question often seens, but really, for most, I've noted the answer is "no difference"; it really doesn't feel like a screen in front of your eyes and you tend to look "away" so your eyes feel like you would IRL. Only possible issues -> brightness, but... don't go in a white room in game then :D

Yeah same happened on GT5 when I started using a steering wheel and just being able to literally feel the Tire grip through the vibration and Force feedback was a game changer to the point I couldn’t go back to racing with a controller on a regular basis.

A lot of people do not yet realise the PSVR2+PS5 is a true next-gen VR gaming system that competes favourably with high end PCVR, but PCVR will not be able to compete at $1k for the full system, you can just about buy a decent GPU for PC for that price, then you need the rest of the computer and an headset with at least 2k per eye OLED-HDR Displays, eye tracking and foveated rendering plus haptics in the headset and controllers, the nearest thing PCVR has to this is the upcoming Pimax Crystal QLED headset but that is another $2k on its own plus you need an RTX4090 to get the best out of it so that's another $2k and it looks like something from a 1980s VR arcade machine, VR needs to jump into the future and I think Sony are going to have a serious attempt at helping us all to get there with the PSVR2,I am all in on it, I listed on ebay and sold my $4K PCVR rig and headset the same day I pre-ordered the PSVR2.

I've always been committed to PCVR only, and yes PSVR2 is better than any PCVR headset. No true competition, it does not exist. PC has the better *potential* , and we do have modding which his amazing in VR. I'd say the library atm is overall still better (though GT7 is better than any VR racing game on PC). But PSVR2 is way better than any headset available. And the fact that the whole system costs significantly less, and it performs perfectly smooth with PC VR level graphics and works easily out of the box, it's just the way better value proposition. I'm waiting for a next gen OLED PCVR headset, but that's likely at least a year away. Looking at GT7 on PSVR2, it's making me want to get one.

@@zackmac5917 I think PC has more potential the same way it has more potential for flat games, and yet, the biggest games are still often on consoles. I suspect it'll be the same for VR. There's just not going to be the same user base for game developers to target on PC. And most PC gamers have rigs that are less powerful than a console.

I agree that PSVR2's real advantage is the price point, but I also think the edge is in its simplicity. For non-PC people, PSVR is likely much simpler to set up than PCVR, great for younger children and those not as tech-savvy. I personally see the great quality as more of a bonus to the aforementioned two points

Driving in an open cockpit car in VR is truly exhilarating and really gives you an awesome sense of speed. I have the original PSVR and Gran Turismo Sport and driving the F1 car (even though it was just against a single opponent car) is really fun. I'm looking forward to experiencing F1 racing on the PSVR2 with a full grid of cars in the PSVR2's higher graphic fidelity and screen resolution!

Having played RE2 remake (via the excellent PC mod) and RE4 (the quest 2 port) in VR I can say you're going to have an awesome time with village. Prepare yourself lol.

Those two AND No Man's Sky for me. Even though I hated the move controllers, some actions while using them in NMS, did feel like a completely different experience. I also recommend having controller-angled steering for GT7 as oppose to using the left joystick. It already feels more immersive in 2D than the usual joystick steering.

Yeah the Quest 2 requires 3rd party headstraps and a gaming PC for the best experience. Fantastic wireless PCVR with a comfortable strap with battery is nearly peak. Hoping PSVR2 raises the AAA VR standard

PSVR2 is actually not that expensive when you take into account, that you need a pretty strong PC to run games like this. And the headset itself is actually cheaper than most PC counterparts. I finally got my copy of GT7 earlier tonight after seeing a physical copy on sale for $50CAD. I'm almost wondering if I should wait a day or two longer to find a proper racing wheel before starting though. I'm a huge fan of immersion and had even spent a few extra dollars on a flight stick before playing MSFS2020 last year, so I don't mind paying a bit more for realism. It seems that Logitech has great wheels with something called Truforce, but is there any wheels that are popular duds that a newbies should avoid? Any info would be appreciated.

I had the first gen psvr with the ps4 pro and even though the graphics were outdated, the feeling was really nice. Even though I've competed in GT many years ago my brain always had an issue with transforming 2d information into 3d in my brain. That issue dissolved completely with VR and it actually feels like a real car. Your brain can actually "feel" the G-forces which is weird in itself. I highly recommend everyone that loves car racing and has a rig to buy vr, it's amazeballs

This is the future for gaming for me. Getting a little burnt out with normal gaming. Been playing since the late 80s don't get me wrong I like my games but this is what I'm investing my time and money in. Play Gran Turismo 6in VR was amazing but lacked the content. Just got my PS5 and already pre-ordered the VR 2. I know Gran Turismo 7 going to be amazing but other games I'm looking forward to is Ace Combat 7 Star Wars Squadron no man's sky. I have low-end cockpit and steering wheel for my racing games about to get the flight stick for the flight games getting a steering wheel and cockpit for racing games puts in a whole nother level. If there people out there have not experienced racing simulators or flight simulators in VR it is going to blow your mind

This is how I feel, I've played games since the 80's, and other than incremental upgrades to graphics, sound, tv resolution, controllers etc, there hasn't been a MAJOR leap in gaming to make it feel fresh again...I truly believe VR is the future and it's gonna become mainstream, and I believe PSVR2 is gonna be the product that pushes VR & gaming forward

Great review, but it does have built in audio. You get a pair of earbuds that clip to the back of the headset very neatly. If you meant speakers on the headset, we'll earphones are way better anyway. And to say that it's expensive, well relatively speaking it's not, because a comparable PCVR set up will cost you around £2500.

I'll add my experience to lots of people saying you can never go back the moment you tried sim racing in VR. Long time GT, Assetto Corsa, and all sorts of sim racing player, and a car guy irl with some track experience. It's the closest you can get to actually driving on a track because in a real car you would be looking at the apex and generally having a sense of your car's geometry / speed vs the track. You can never get that on a flat screen. VR made me faster in game as well as on track in real life.

PSVR2, like the first one, comes bundled with earphones, so there’s no need to worry about audio. Sony just likes shoving their headset wherever they can, and I’m the same way, don’t like headphones atop of a headset.

The earbuds are there included… but you can take it off the headset if you use your own headphones. I personally like the earbuds more so I will have it attached to my PSVR2

It does come with earbuds and you can use them or whatever else you want. When we say it doesn't have "built-in audio", we're referring to built-in speakers like you see on the Meta Quest 2.

playing rogue squadron on valves index was so mind blowing and such a realistic immersive experience. The audio was amazing too, just fold down the speakers built in headset. I bought in 2020 at $1k but totally worth it with the best tracking in the market at the time and still think it holds its own, not sure if its been rivaled yet.

One nitpicky detail for me that's missing is the rain effect on your helmet visor in an open wheel car. Also sun shinning on the visor. Would a bit more realistic feeling when driving. I think NFS Shift 2 was the only game that had a helmet onscreen when in cockpit view. But i can understand most people wouldn't care about such niche details.

While true and it would be great as an option I could see them being concerned about motion sickness with stuff so close to the face or losing the great clarity that they've worked so hard for in mist on the visor. Would be great to have the option though

A cool realism aspect is that with the VR2 on, it's feels like I'm wearing an actual helmet while racing, which is what ALL virtual drivers that I can see in-game are wearing anyway. Playing without a "VR helmet" isn't safe while racing, so VR2+GT7 is the only way to race accurately.

I think it's great that FOViated rendering is on PSVR2 as this is standardizing the tech so other headsets going forward have to use it as well to compete. its going to be the greatest optimization tool for VR and is going to improve visual quality as a whole for all platforms.

For those of us who do not have a wheel, GT gave us the Motion Sensor option to steer...which is MUCH better than trying to steer with that joystick. I got the "No Wheel Skill" and I def use the Motion Sensor and not that horrid joystick! I used the Motion Sensor in VR in GTSport and it was a flawless.

@@David-ee5bz Your thumbs will be thanful for it. After a year or so racing in sims with no motion sensor, my thumbs and hands paid the pice. That joystick will eventually start wearing on those thumbs and will eventually wear a blister right there where the thumb is trying to steer say an F1 car or any other legit car with serious hp. If im in a racing sim that doesnt haave the mtotion sensor, I now wrap my thumbs up with 2 bandaids...thats TWO bandaids for the added protection from that joystick. No joke. How many times just in ONE F1 race do we mash that joystick to steerr different directions?? Thousamds [prob just in that 1 race....add another 12-16 months to that and you will see where im coming from! hahah Highly recommend the Motion Sensor! As far as I know, GT is the only racing game that provides us with the Motion Sensor and God Bless em!! It needs to be a Mandatory option in ALL racing games. good luck with it....sorry didn't mean to write a book! :)
