I was so surprised with how this movie turned out. I NEVER expected to get emotional watching it. I was so tired of seeing the trailer for it tbh, but my expectations were pretty low to mid. I thought it looked fine. I’m glad that I left pumped, inspired, and happy. It had so much more heart than I thought it would. It’s not perfect, but I think it’s actually very good. This was easily the biggest surprise of the year for me. I went in to this expecting to be mildly entertained as a fan of the game, and an avid car enthusiast. I brought my dad with me who instilled his love of cars in me, and grew up watching me play games like Need For Speed and Gran Turismo. We both loved it, and both were really surprised by how exciting and tense it was. The sound design REALLY shined in the theatre we saw it in as well. I was constantly getting goose bumps. It’s sad that Neil Blomkamp never got to do his vision for a Alien 5. He’s a very talented director, I think this is a sign that people should consider him as a big time director and should be hired. I wish I could've enjoyed the GT movie as much as Chris did, I usually share a lot of similar tastes in film, but maybe its living in the GT sphere which has jaded me, I found it incredibly overdramatic, to a soap opera level in many cases (especially Orlando Bloom) and although most audiences won't notice or care, any fan of the game series who've been playing from the old days will find more than a few moments and technical specifics to be hilariously opposite to what the game actually offers. The entire ''Brake fade'' fiasco being a prime example in the movie. Spoiler - there has never even been brake fade simulated in Gran Turismo. The idea of GT ever being as realistic of a ''sim'' as the movie presents it as, is pretty hilarious. *cough* 330 mph Alfa Romeo's in GT6, 600 mph wheelie tunes in GT3 etc etc. Even now in the latest of GT games you can still wallride at 450 mph with little more than sparks around the streets of Tokyo, but in the movie it presents Jann as being some technical prodigy who knows better than a chief engineer of 15 years (as the movie makes a point of highlighting) exclusively because of his time in GT. I am glad to see more people than I'd expect enjoying the movie, its just a shame that the most avid of followers of the series which share its namesake are more often than not the least satisfied with the result.

I don't mind them doing the whole advertisement for GT but I wish they stayed with the PS3 and not going "Look at how advanced GT7 is, it's incredible!". I mean you get my benefit of the doubt with GT5 because hey it was a really good sim of the time but not fully there yet. Now with GT7 it's not even the most advanced as iRacing is the most commonly preferred sim racing program. Even F1 drivers don't really use their licensed games most of the time, opting for iRacing instead.

Hi, amazing channel! A slight side track but still in the realm; could you consider creating a tribute to the late and amazing Kevin Conroy? He passed away last year, and was the sole reason I got into acting. On MsMojo there was a video about the best voice acting in animate d movies and I think he should've been included for his role in Batman the Mask of Phantasm (the scene at the cementary). I have a VA background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's very underrated as Batman (ditto Mark Hamill as Joker) and even non existent in the conversation. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)

I just came form watching the movie, and I was very surprised that in the credits the name of Neil appeared, it was an amazing movie, so well photographed and directed. I'm very happy for him, after District 9 he struggled a little bit with his other projects, but this one is a solid movie, great action since Speed Racer I haven't been so excited watching racing in movies. Kudos to the whole team behind this, I hope it performs good on the box office. Saludos Chris!

Your review hit it out the door! This movie was very good! I like your take on everything in a film doesn't have to be new or innovative, but if it is done right, it hits all of the right notes. It felt like I was watching a Top Gun type of movie, but with cars. It is definitely a movie for moviegoers and a fun summer movie.

Chris definitely grew up on Gran Turismo. Jokes aside though, it is nice to see the movie receiving some generally decent praise. The late streak of video game to movie adaptations seen to be getting somewhat better in quality.

I saw this movie twice now, I literally custom made a t-shirt for this exact movie. I cried my second time and was emotional the first time. Literally when this happened to be made into a movie I was blown away. To be playing this game for 22+ years now (started with GT3) I was so happy, I was proud. I’ll have my own review for it cause I have so much to say. But of course critics are knocking it. They just don’t understand us sim-racers. There’s so much I can say but I really love this movie, and I am very proud to truly call myself a Gran Turismo player. I really love this movie. I’ll see it as many times as I possibly can. That is a fact. 22+ years with GT, (GT3, GT4, GT5 Prologue, GT [PSP], GT5, GT6, GT Sport and GT7) I will see this movie so many times, it’s a movie I can relate to in some way. Love your review Chris, and I love that you have GT - GT3 with you. It’s so cool.

For those who’ve not played GT7 in VR, it’s absolutely amazing on the PSVR2, even with only a Dualsense controller.

Hey Chris! Been loving your videos for a long time and was hoping to see a review about some lovecraftian inspired horror films like “Glorious” or “Color out of Space”. I enjoyed them a lot, and wanted to know what you think about them. If you’ve already reviewed them I couldn’t find them on your channel, I figured it’d be something you’d enjoy.

I've seen this movie twice - as one of Regal's Monday Mystery Movie last month and again earlier this week on IMAX. I will watch this again on 4DX - just made for this experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and the crowd at both my showings were glued to their seats and engaged (shouting and clapping by the end). The movie is "formulaic" underdog tropes but it works for me. Great review Chris!

Djimon Hounsou is CRIMINALLY under rated, he is one of the best aspects of every movie he is in... papa midnight in constantine, I remember that character even from childhood, i thought he was cool af, and he had like 2 minutes in that movie lol. Hell even in that shit fighting movie Never Back Down... he literally acts circles around every other person in that movie. Gladiator, Djimon has always been a side character and yet his side characters are almost always memorable.

GT 3 A-spec was my introduction to gaming as a whole. While I'm not a major car guy, I've always had a big soft spot for the series. (gt4 is one of the best games of all time) It's really awesome to see it's cultural impact continue to grow over the years. Stuff like this being recieved well by the general public makes me very happy. It feels good to have a niche interest earn widespread respect.

I found it enthralling, Chris. I'm glad Blomkamp made it because I haven't seen his name in a while, and I think he's very talented. People should ignore the critical consensus on this and go see it in a theater. It's worth it.

It was a solid movie, and I completely enjoyed it. It really was a cool experience and it managed really well to put the viewer in different kinds of emotions throughout the movie. The only nitpicking I have is the last race, where I did not recognise La Sarthe by the corners at all. Only to later see that they used a lot of footage from Hungaroring, also seen in the top shot when crossing the finish line (props to them for making the track look like a real LeMans race with the colors of the original track though). Kind of disorienting when you see it first but nonetheless it was an enjoyable movie!
