I know this hard to know with out the context of the why. He is really trying to help owners with issues. He helped us as an example.

And that’s how much it moves being gently lifted. Imagine what it does in the normal bumps going down the road. I’d guess once the frame has let go, the laminated walls, flooring and body in general has lost a lot of strength and rigidity.

Very informative video Dustin and Ashley. Even though I have repaired or 2022 398M myself and the Lippert measurements are around 1/32nd of an inch my slide out is still moving similar to what you have shown in this video and makes similar sounds. I know the front is no longer broken, but near the back by the bathroom may have some thing wrong that I am going to have to find.

How many different ways can it be said??? Grand Design and Lippert are Coconspirators in this disaster, Grand design for making way too heavy a trailer on a flimsy frame, and Lippert for having the audacity to sell that flimsy frame to Grand Design in the first place. Lippert you need to man up & and have the guts to tell these companies building trailers, that they have to have a heavier frame. Lippert when you sell a flimsy frame you're part of the problem!!!

After watching your videos on repairs of RVs. I can tell you with 100% certainty that GD and Lippert are just pushing garbage out the door and being sold by sellers who know the bad quality. Only to send the garbage to your shop and tie your shop to the sinking anchor! I suggest you work on these bad GD and Lippert with caution! Since your shop can now be held responsible for bad repairs?

Per GDRV's new 5 year warranty if you expose the RV to weather (rain, wind, hot, cold, etc.) the warranty is voided. Also if you pull the RV on a bumpy road the warranty is voided. Not off-roading - just any road that is bumpy or per their wording has a pothole. i.e. there is NOT a warranty on a GDRV

Rosie and I recently had a Grand Design Solitude. It was a 310 2017. We had so many issues over the time we had it. While Micah and Nate were still at GD. we had excellent service and feedback but then GD. was sold to Winnebago and some of the main people left and started Brinkley and our service and communication stopped. The rear end would shift about a foot back and forth as we would drive down the road. We got rid of the unit last year and bought a Brinkley Z-3100 which we love. Spent last summer in Alaska and the winter on BLM land outside of Yuma, Az. All off grid. When we do have issues Micah or someone at Brinkley are right on it to get it fixed or parts replaced. Keystone has a service bulletin on the same problem and there is a fix for it, we have done several and they have never come back. It is not a cheap fix

I would like to know if these major issues are mostly on the larger well equipped units or all sizes. Seems like the engineers of the frame builders and the engineers of the coach builders need to be working together from start to finish.

The fresh water tank fell out of my 2022 Forester River Salem Hemisphere 22RBHL. We have had nothing but trouble with our unit since we bought it brand new in 2022. It looked like the frame for the tank was not welded correctly and after a couple of years of use, it finally broke while filling the tank. I was not able to get a response back from the manufacture after leaving four messages, so I was able to complain on their FB page. I had to comment on a post since their page did not allow posts. I did get someone to answer me after that and after waiting a month on parts that were never showing up, the rep I spoke with magically got my parts to the dealership in two days. Now I am at the mercy of the dealership to replace the parts and I have been waiting for three weeks. This all started on May 17th 2024 and I still do not have my camper back as of 07-09-2024. It's on the dealership now. Forester Rivers customer service sucks, but I thank God I got to speak with someone that actually cared. As for the dealership, they are not much better. The RV manufactures and dealerships need to me held accountable for their products and taking care of their customers. They are out of control because there is no customer protection. I even looked into an attorney and they wouldn't take the case. I was told the RV industry is not like the car industry and lemon laws. Buyer beware I guess.

In my 2022 GD Momentum 5 lag bolts were tight and in place after 30,000 miles.

Feel sorry for GD? Are you kidding me, they designed this thing and had Lippert build the frame and it failed, gee what a surprise. Why is BAL not having these issues, or Northwood Manufacturing, because they engineer their frames correctly with good materials and good engineering. This is GD and LCI cheaping out on materials and engineering to boost that profit margin.

I blame GD more than Lippert here, GD is the one that spec'd and engineered the frame. Lippert builds frames for other manufacturers that are not having these issues. DRV, and Riverstone come to mind right off the bat. Both have a very differently engineered frame and frame problems seem rare on both.

The differences here is it’s not a systemic issue like it is with Grand Design, it’s rare on a DRV and the second is they are not trying to bury the problem like GD is. They are standing behind 100% unlike GD. It’s still the beefiest frame on anything short of a Spacecraft.

2nd Comment but this stuff infuriates me. I'm so tired of the "it's in an earthquake" excuse and these Mfg and their shills using that excuse. They say it's the customer's fault for towing them or having them outside. VEHICLE is in the name. If it can't be outside or on a road why is VEHICLE in the name? In the GDRV case VEHICLE is in the name of the company but they say if you have it outside on a a road the warranty is void (using pages of lawyer words but that's what it amounts to).

I have been researching Rv’s since last summer. Looking at what would suit our needs for full time living. I almost bought into GD marketing pitch and the KZbin GD “ambassadors”. I as dug deeper into all the different manufacturers of Rv’s. I have come to the concconclusion that the major manufacturers of Rv are crap. You know what based my decision on. We bought 4 used rv’s and while we enjoyed/enjoy using them. We realized the lack of quality of these cheaper units. And while a few weeks a year. They would never hold up to full time living if traveling in a regular basis. I am not here to promote any brand , but I believe I have found a truly four seasons package Rv that has a real quality build. GD is not even close to this manufacturer

I think it would benefit people if you did mention the brand. When we decided to go full time i did the same thing and crossed GD off the list as soon as i laid my eyes on one in person, they are literally a polished turd based off what i saw. I narrowed my list down pretty quickly and after doing factory tours it was very clear to me where i wanted to land but we still had a decision to make. New Horizons is one of the brands we considered but the wait time for one was simply too long. We ended up in a DRV JX450 and we have not been disappointed with it.

@@TDub_ADV since you requested it The manufacturer is Outdoors RV. They have videos of their manufacturing process on their website. Not just an after hours walk through, but filming a start to finish process. I don’t know if another manufacturer that has allowed such videos. I also like New Horizon, but we decided to go with a tt for more boondocking/offgrid applications. The 80/100 gallon freshwater tank that is designed to be filled to capacity before venturing on your trip was another great selling point for me.

@@Capt-John-T-Moore I have heard nothing but good things about the Outdoors RV. Back when i was in the research phase there was only one in Elkhart that did tours while the factory was in productionand that was DRV. Compared to other tours we did i felt they were very transparent on how the rigs are built. The DRV tour was also very unrushed, we spent as much time as we wanted on any specific process on the line and even had the line workers to talk to us if we had a specific question they could answer, which we did ask quite a few. It was kind of eye opening compared to others who had a very narrative driven tour and only showed you what they wanted you to see when the shop floor was offline. DRV has some vids too on walkthrus that show stuff happening. For us we wanted a 5th wheel toyhauler and wanted one in a larger size class.

in 2 years GD will be bankrupt. most dealerships will not take a GD for trade anymore. Some dealerships will not order and sell on their lots people are learning about their crappy build. its just not GD its most rv in general. wish japan would sell their rv here in states. i was going to buy one to live in but build quality is horrible plus rv parks are too expensive for what you get.

Sorry folks but GD is lipstick on a pig and the owners moved on to start Brinkley and so just wait for those issues to follow. It's just a matter of time. My background is in engineering, and these are poorly put together and that includes Brinkley. The things that matter, are not done well. They make them look very pretty which is what sells, but you are risking serious issues for a good-looking RV. The fact that these people are saying, BUT they are great. Walk away folks, it's not worth it and then that will make GD fix issues. You keep buying and supporting them giving your trash, they will keep selling you trash. The warranty changes to avoid a recall is Sleazy business practices. Wake up and stop taking up for them to force a change.

Someone has to call out the manufacturers for all the garbage on the market. I won't mention the brand but I'm having my slide completely replaced for structural failure (outer wall and floor). Flimsy junk and yes its a major brand. 2024 model. Luckily they aren't dodging the approval.
